22: Another Joyous Occasion

When everyone arrived at Peter Brown’s home, Raven Brown stood there cautiously, looking at Reuben’s father, seeming a little frightened.

It had been many years since Flower Creek had seen a county-level leader, so how could someone like Raven who had been always working in the countryside not be nervous when they saw such an important figure there?

“Mr.

Brown, how are you?”

Reuben’s father appeared very friendly and shook Raven’s hand.

“Good, I’m good!”

Raven really didn’t know what to say.

However, despite being afraid of the leader, Raven loudly told Liza, “Wife, go and fetch some water for Mayor Taylor!” While saying this, Raven even thought to himself, ‘I also shook hands with a great leader!’

Liza, who had never experienced such a scene before, hurriedly went to boil water and pour tea.

“Uncle Taylor, let’s sit in the yard.

It’s brighter here.” freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Peter brought some stools and invited several people to sit down.

After everyone sat down, Reuben’s father said, “Raven, if it weren’t for Peter this time, I would be dead!”

Raven looked at his son.

Peter smiled and said, “Last time I went to the town, I just happened to help Reuben’s dad.

It wasn’t a big deal, so I didn’t tell you guys.”

“Not a big deal!”

Raven wanted to chide him, but then remembered that the leader was still here, so he just glared at his son, thinking that he didn’t even tell him about such a big incident.

He had saved a big shot!

After chatting for a while, Reuben’s father solemnly said, “I have learned about Peter’s case and found that there are still many doubts in the case.

The case handlers at the time did have some problems.

I have instructed relevant departments to re-examine the case.

Doing so would not be in vain.”

Everyone in the Brown family was taken aback.

Reuben looked at Peter and said, “Peter, you didn’t know, did you?

Yesterday, Zachary turned himself in, saying that he was the one who killed someone at the time and that you just took the blame.”

It was then that Peter realized what was going on and looked at Reuben.

He was grateful to his bros who had forced the Owen family to come forward.

How could they possibly turn themselves in if they were not pushed to the extreme?

It was clear that everyone had worked together to force Myles Taylor and his son into playing this move.

Though Peter didn’t know exactly how everyone had done it, he owed them this favor.

Raven hesitated and finally said, “This matter…

was also our fault.

Peter wouldn’t have taken the blame if it hadn’t been for me at the time!”

This matter had been pressing on Raven’s heart for many years, and now that it came out, there was a sense of guilt on his face.

“Dad, it’s okay.

Didn’t I learn a lot during those three years?”

Peter smiled, trying to ease his father’s sadness.

Reuben’s father said earnestly, “Let’s follow the law in everything.

Whoever is responsible must take responsibility.

I guess Peter will be able to clear his name this time, but he was affected for three whole years!”

“It’s okay, it’s okay.

As long as Peter’s name is cleared, we’re happy.”

Liza became excited when she heard this.

Peter didn’t actually care too much about this matter, but seeing his parents happy, he too felt happy and looked at Mayor Taylor, saying, “Thank you for your concern, Uncle Taylor.”

“You even call me Uncle Taylor, so how can I not be concerned?

Haha!”

At this time, the village chief and others received the news and rushed over.

Mayor Taylor looked at a middle-aged man who looked like a township official and said, “Flower Creek is a good place.

There are mountains and water, and the air is fresh.

If developed, this place will also be a great place to live.

Now that Peter wants to give back to his fellow villagers, you leaders should give your full support.”

Although Reuben’s father didn’t ask them to follow him when talking to his family, everyone could tell that Peter and Reuben’s father had a close relationship.

Joseph Carter, the township leader, had learned through his own channels that Peter had saved Reuben’s father’s life.

Seeing the situation now, it was clear that Reuben’s father wanted to repay Peter, so he smiled and said to Peter, “Peter, I am Joseph Carter from the township.

If you have any issues in the future, just contact me directly.” He handed him his business card as he spoke.

Peter took the business card and smiled, “Thank you, Mr.

Carter.”

Reuben’s father looked approvingly at Joseph.

“Joseph, connect with Peter about the road construction.

This is a good thing and a big deal for the county.

You must strengthen communication.”

Joseph had already heard that Peter was going to fund the road construction and took the matter to heart.

Reuben’s father gave him this task, which was an opportunity for him to gain political achievements, so he thought that his next step was to further strengthen his relationship with Peter.

Reuben’s father walked around the place.

He saw that everyone’s lives were not very good and instructed the township to pay attention to these matters before leaving Flower Creek.

As the car drove away, Raven looked at Peter and asked, “How many more things are you hiding from us?

I heard that you made a hundred million?”

The road repair matter couldn’t be concealed, and Raven had heard about it.

At that moment, his heart could hardly bear the news, so he anxiously asked about it.

Liza also stared wide-eyed at Peter and said, “Tell us quickly, what’s going on?”

“Pete, you’re so rich!”

Kate’s eyes sparkled as she said that.

Peter just smiled, telling them some of the things he could tell about his trip to the provincial capital.

Even so, everyone’s mouths were still wide open in shock.

One hundred million!

When Raven confirmed that his son really had a hundred million, he simply fainted on the spot.

This left Peter speechless.

As he revived his father, he saw his mother constantly patting her chest.

This matter seemed a bit too overwhelming!

Peter didn’t feel much about this hundred million, but the villagers had never heard of anyone having so much money.

Now that Raven and his wife knew that their family had so much money, they were naturally unable to stay calm.

It was Kate who recovered quickly.

She jumped up and exclaimed, “I have the money to go to college now!”

As she spoke, Kate tackled Peter to the ground with a hug.

At that moment, Peter’s face turned red, and he could clearly feel that his little sister was not so little anymore.

“You silly girl, what are you doing?!” Seeing the two siblings hugging like this, Liza sobered up and immediately berated them.

Sticking out her tongue and laughing, Kate quickly ran out.
