Sumatra's Greatest Fan-Chapter 137: Centinger Chase
[What happened to meeeeee?]
Came Runthral’s scream, sounding as if he was getting repeatedly stabbed in the crotch, pausing for a moment to heal, and then stabbed again, and put on repeat.
"What the heck just happened?" Torq grunted in pain, feeling as if his head was getting split apart. Feeling Eureur Pet carrying him as they rode a wave to flee, he eyed the other party, "Tell me!"
"How did you appear outside my Nature slot in the first place? And secondly, why am I hearing Runthral’s voice in my head?" He shouted.
"I can explain the details later." Eureur Pet slapped him on the back of the head, infusing mist into the head to disorient Torq’s senses, "Focus on the situation first!"
[Urgh!]
There was a mild scream from Runthral, followed by silence. And then, all Torq heard were deep inhales and exhales in Runthral’s voice, accompanied by the occasional snores. Even though there was still noise in his head, it was leagues better than before, allowing Torq to focus on the matter at hand.
He noticed a hail of spikes heading his way, only to be blocked by a series of rippling waves that exploded upon contact. Artillery spikes landed in the area around him, barely missing him thanks to Eureur Pet’s efforts.
Toxic vapour spewed out from the spikes that came into contact with the Dralh Sea’s water. With a grunt, Eureur Pet pushed them away and continued to maintain the wave carrying them forward.
"When will your ability’s count reset?" Eureur Pet asked in a hurry, "If I were to get killed here, everything will go to waste."
"You can always leave behind an Information Slip..." Torq spoke instinctively, only to receive a slap to the cheeks.
"Your mind will explode if you receive the volume of information that is currently within me." She hurriedly tapped her temples, "I spent all my life maximising my capabilities just to reach this point of information retaining capacity. Your brain is still growing and is too far from reaching that level."
"Tell me the duration!" She expressed further.
"The Death Hour!" Torq replied, "The new count will start with the Death Hour."
Torq has been changing his Pets right as the duration of the previous one ended. As a result, he was consistently resetting his Primary Nature at the Death Hour.
The window was a day’s worth, starting from the moment he activates the Primary Nature. If he wanted to change the time, he could just wait after the ability reset. And then, at any time of his choice, he could activate the Primary Nature.
And the day’s timer would start from that point.
"The Death Hour?" Veins squirmed across Eureur Pet’s neck, as she cursed in anger, "There’s still many hours left for that."
"Then, we need to survive, no matter what." Eureur Pet spoke when a droplet of water flew into her mouth. It was an Information Slip made by Torq, giving her information about his arrangements in the place. "You had something like that?"
"Yes," Torq nodded and patted his clothes, "This is my final line of recovery and defence."
"The one chasing after us, even though its strength has been elevated to the peak of the Gold Grade, is only a Centinger. It’s not a Millinger." Eureur Pet thought with a hopeful expression, "Then, your robe can continue using its abilities without issues."
"Let’s move then," Torq said and condensed a misty ivory shield, relieved to see it working as usual, ’I need some time to figure out my abilities.’
The information pertaining to the new abilities he received from Raurau was in his mind space. However, he needed some time to go through and understand them, time that he didn’t have at the moment.
Even a few minutes would be enough, ’Once we get inside, I can do that.’
The ivory shield of mist expanded like a cone to defend against another hail of Bone-Melting Artillery. The defences were shredded apart as Torq’s Prana reserves plummeted to zero in response.
Thankfully, they managed to avoid damage, as all the spikes barely missed their marks. Since he defended against a volley, he managed to buy some time for Eureur Pet, who erected a Rippling Tsloch cone, pointed it behind them, and unleashed the shockwaves within it.
Boom!
The duo were propelled into the depths of the Dralh Sea. And thanks to Eureur Pet using Mystic Mist Arts, they managed to move ahead without a drop in their propelled speed.
They did slow over time, past which Eureur Pet used Mystic Mist Arts to generate undercurrents that carried them forward. Now, there was more than a kilometres of distance erected between them and the Centinger.
It still unleashed its artillery strikes. However, since they were moving about at depths close to 50 metres, the spikes lost most of their speed and power by the time they reached them.
Like an agile fish, the duo swam through the water, evading the slow projectiles.
"Good, I’m ready!" Torq muttered, having finished replenishing his Prana thanks to the Narlakk Pet’s pollen.
"Perfect!" Eureur Pet nodded as she began to digest the pollen that had appeared in her stomach. The Narlakk had turned them into a form easy for her to digest, since it could use Mystic Mist Art too.
Her reserves were improving too, as now, she was only using one Spirit Weapon, which was to generate the undercurrents that brought them forward. Torq focused on their defenses. And if a spike were to still reach them, the Narlakk Pet unleashed a last moment burst of water to push the spike to the side, helping them narrowly evade the attack.
There were multiple holes in the Trailing Waves Battleship as countless Stitched Humans were swarming into it. The Cooter Clansmen formed large groups to behave no different from an industrial shredder.
Hundreds of water serpents operated around the Battleship, cleanly destroying the Stitched Humans. Within each serpent was a vortex serving as the power source. Within the vortex were a team of Cooter Clansmen in Spirit Weapon forms, having joined hands to uniformly operate the water serpents.
Their casualties were actually minimal, despite the war’s intensity. Most water serpents collapsed only when Raefrag’s attacks struck them cleanly and damaged their Spirit Weapons, undoing their transformation.
And the moment they reverted to human form, before they reorient their stack to assume another transformation, the Stitches Humans ganged upon them, ending up distorting their forms.
As a result, they were unable to assume their transformation, which eventually led to their deaths. This was the primary cause of their loss in lives. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"There are too many here!" Torq shouted.
"Then, how did you come out in the first place?" Eureur Pet asked in shock.
Torq immediately displayed his needle, "Using this."
"Then use it again!" She urged.
"It will be fully consumed with this use." Torq hesitated, "It’s the only way I have a chance at killing that Centinger."
’And even if I were to kill it, the Quill would lure in another Pranic Beast to consume it, and the process would repeat again.’ He thought and grunted with killing intent and eyed the Centinger, ’Once the day resets, I can use the Runthral Pet to make the Quill mine.’
"Mother," He said in seriousness, "Protect me."
And then, his needle flew forward, vaporising every existence in its path.
