Chapter 90: Do You Want to Play?

I just couldn’t believe that the casino that I had heard of but never seen and never thought that I would get to visit would be right in front of me right now. Although most people in upper society knew about it, not everyone was allowed to come to a place like this.

Of course, my father was one of the selected few who had access to places like these. How else could he have gambled the fortune of our family away?

For normal people in the country, this wasn’t supposed to exist. People were not supposed to know about it and even if they did, they had to pretend that they did not possess such knowledge. Of course, the common people were banned by law from entertaining themselves at such a place.

“I guess Diana isn’t supposed to be in a place like this...” I said with widened eyes as I turned my head around to take in all that was in front of me.

“You’re not supposed to be here either,” he pointed out.

“You’re right...” I replied while thinking that I should be working late into the night at my old job in the office.

“Don’t worry. This place isn’t supposed to exist,” he said before grinning at me.

“It’s amazing how something this huge isn’t supposed to exist. I mean...anyone with eyes can see it for what it is...” I said in pure amazement.

Although we were still outside in the large parking lot out in front, I could already tell how large and grand the building was. Decorated with a mix of modern glass and luxurious French Rivera style architecture, the large building looked like a modernized grand mansion of sorts. It was definitely designed to stand out rather than choosing to be discreet which was a stark contrast to how this was supposed to be a secret.

“Take it as a parallel world of sorts. People who are allowed here are the only ones who know about it,” he explained simply.

“Am I supposed to be Diana or Dahlia for today?” I asked as I peered up into his face.

“You can be yourself,” he replied without any further explanations.

I didn’t understand why my heart skipped a beat when I thought that he might be smiling a little at me. While I struggled to understand why I suddenly felt so nervous, I didn’t realize that Bradon was handing me something.

“A mask?” I said questioningly as I reached out to take it from his hand.

The white mask that would shield the areas around my eyes was decorated with small flowery patterns and golden embroidery looked like something straight out of a fantasy masquerade.

“Wear it. You might find it liberating when no one can tell who you are,” he said before showing me a devilish smirk.

“What about you?” I asked after putting the mask on my face.

“Why would the king need to wear a mask in his own realm?” he replied cockily. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

“I guess you do have a point,” I said before letting out a giggle.

The inside was even more amazing than the outside. I guessed that the luxurious interior of the casino should come to no surprise given the upper clientele that it served. The inside was nothing less like a five or even six stars hotel. After walking past a grand lobby where a huge sparkling chandelier hung from above, we emerged into an open floor.

“Wow...” I gasped as my eyes looked down and feasted on a large open floor that was bustling with activity.

Just like me, many people had a mask on to hide their identity. Looking down below, I could see people engaged in what must be various gambling games. The floor stretched as far as the eyes could see and it was clear that the business that Bradon had been running was doing extremely well.

“I thought people only gambled at night...” I murmured as I continued looking around.

“Incorrect. Some people gamble all day and all night. This place runs 24 hours and 7 days a week. There are clients gambling online from all around the world, so the casino runs to serve all time zones,” Bradon replied from beside me.

“Wow! The casino never sleeps,” I said excitedly as I turned to face him.

“Want to play?” he suggested.

“I can really play?” I asked with widened eyes.

It never occurred to me that something like that was possible. Gambling wasn’t something that my parents allowed us to learn about or participate in for the reason that it would ‘look bad’ if people found out that we were engaged in such activities.

“If you want to...” he replied casually.

“What are we waiting for? Let’s go! Let’s go!” I cried out excitedly.

I was so overwhelmed by the thrill from the idea that I would get to try gambling for the first time ever in my life. The vibe in the casino also made it all the more engaging and I couldn’t wait to get started. Before I noticed what I was doing, I had already reached both my hands out to tug Bradon’s arm.

“Let’s go!” I repeated over and over again as I pulled on his arm.

“You look too excited...” he muttered.

Despite his complaint, he did follow me down the grand steps that led to the floor below. I gasped loudly when I could see the bustling activities going on right in front of me. People were seated at various tables while there were many others standing around. Waitresses dressed in alluring outfits walked around catering refreshments and drinks in beautiful wine and champagne glasses. Everything felt new and exciting to me that I didn’t know where or what to focus my attention on first.

“What is this?” I asked as I pulled Bradon’s arm for him to follow me.

I led him to a very large table where a small crowd had gathered all around. The chatters that occasionally came along with cheering and clapping caught my attention and I wondered what they were observing. Since there were so many men standing in front of me and blocking my view, I found it difficult to see what was displayed on the table.
