Chapter 337: Responsible Sister

"Regardless of whether or not we can find Anthony, I can’t let you get any more involved with Bradon," Diana said decisively. I could tell where she was coming from, but she had just made one very great mistake. I wasn’t about to let her decide what I was going to do with my future and my life. Even if she was my only sister, my life still belonged to me and me alone.

"I don’t know about that. I still want to make my own decisions, Dina," I said before mustering a smile.

"Why are you so hesitant to give him up? Is sex with him really that good?" she asked teasingly, grinning at me. Her eyes sparkled as if daring me to answer her ridiculous question.

"It’s beyond amazing," I replied after deciding not to avoid the truth.

...

"If the man you ended up marrying isn’t Anthony, then where is the real Anthony?" Diana asked a question that I had been wondering for the longest time but failed to find the answer to. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

"I don’t know. I tried my best to find him, but no matter who I ask, they wouldn’t give me an answer. I also haven’t seen the real Anthony since I came back to this country," I replied, recalling all my failed attempts to find out anything about Anthony’s whereabouts.

It had been so long, and I had started to lose hope. By that time, I was quite convinced that something had gone wrong and that Anthony may no longer be in the country. As to why his family decided to hide him or why he decided to hide himself away and have his brother take his place, I had absolutely no idea. I didn’t think that getting married to me was that bad because he could have easily faked the marriage and had nothing to do with me had he wanted to. My mind was running in circles as I failed over and over again to solve this riddle.

"You haven’t seen him at all? Like not even once?" Diana asked in pure disbelief.

"That’s right. Also, everything that you see on Anthony’s social media is actually Bradon acting as his younger brother to fool everyone," I replied.

"I have to say that he is a pretty good actor. I honestly cannot tell the difference," She said, but I could tell that it wasn’t a genuine compliment.

“I was so surprised too at first, I couldn’t tell the two apart from each other and it took me a while spending time and living with him to finally be able to tell Bradon apart from Anthony,” I confessed.

"That doesn’t matter right now. What matters is that we have to quickly find Anthony no matter what. Does Anthony know about this? Does he know that you took my place and ended up marrying his brother?" Diana asked with a slightly shocked expression on her face.

I knew that the situation was ridiculous, and even I had the same questions when I first found out that the man I married wasn’t Anthony.

"I agree with you, but as I just told you before, I don’t know where he is. I’ve tried my best, but I don’t even have a clue. His family must be hiding him or something, but I don’t even understand why they’re doing something like that," I said, feeling even more frustrated than before.

Not thinking about the problem was just delaying it. I had been too focused on my own goals, and spending time with Bradon also didn’t leave much time for me to continue my pursuit of finding Anthony. I didn’t want to admit that I had given up hope; rather, I was just putting off the problem, hoping that a solution would present itself. I hoped desperately that one day Anthony would magically appear in front of me.

"I’m going to find him no matter what it takes," Diana said with renewed determination.

"And how exactly are you going to do that?" I asked, wondering if she had any amazing ideas that I had missed out on.

"I’m not sure right now, but I’m sure that I will find a way eventually. So in the meantime, just hang in there for a little bit longer," Diana said before showing me a reassuring smile.

"Thank you for helping to find him. I hope that you end up luckier in this quest than I did," I said, deciding to leave this matter in my sister’s hands.

I had bigger problems to deal with, and I knew that I was pressed for time if I were to keep my end of the bargain with Desmond. I couldn’t stay locked up at the hospital forever when I was supposed to be out there flaunting my relationship with the new king of this country. I also knew that the election couldn’t be put off forever, even if the political landscape was unstable because of the succession of the new king.

Sooner or later, Desmond would be pressured to schedule a new date for the countrywide election, which meant that before that, I had to make sure that my father lost all his support so that he wouldn’t reach his goals. That included getting Desmond to cut off ties with the Alnault family and stop supporting them politically.

"Dahlia," Diana silently called my name after a moment of pause.

I snapped out of my troublesome thoughts to find her staring directly at me with an unreadable expression on her face. I wondered what she wanted to say as I waited for her to continue after seeing that she had my attention.

"You must think that I’m a very irresponsible sister," Diana said with a grim face. I couldn’t deny that she was wrong, but that didn’t mean that I held it against her.

"Well, I guess you’re not completely wrong about that," I replied before grinning at her.

"That’s about to change right now," Diana said, and I could feel that she was dead serious.
