Substitute Wife for the Mafia King R18-Chapter 32: Yearning for Him
The last time that we spoke, I yelled at her in my frustration when she couldn’t explain to me why I couldn’t leave the mansion. After that, in my fit of rage, I tried to storm my way out. After grabbing a few of my things, I ran out of the mansion just to find out that I couldn’t even make it out of the front door although the door was open and unlocked.
“Master Bradon is away on business,” she replied simply without providing any details.
“When will he be back?” I asked immediately.
“I am unsure of the details,” she replied.
“I need to see him. It’s urgent. Is there a way that I can contact him?” I asked with raised eyebrows.
“Did the master not give his phone number to you, My Lady?” she asked before smiling a little my way.
Is it my fault that that devil of a man didn’t even want to give his wife his phone number?
“I guess it slipped his mind...and mine...” I replied with a shrug of my shoulders.
Jenna stared at me wordlessly and I stared back at her. After staring at each other for a short moment, it was Jenna who let out a sigh of resignation before taking out her mobile phone.
“I will inform the Master that you are eagerly awaiting his return,” she said with a warm smile.
“Absolutely. Please tell my husband that I miss him so badly and I can’t wait to see his face again. So, it would be great if he can finish whatever business that he has, and hurry back home as soon as possible before I’m tired of holding my breath while waiting for his return. Also, I happen to have a mobile phone so if he misses me, he should not hesitate to give me a call, ok? Please tell him that as well,” I instructed before nodding my head firmly in confirmation of my wishes.
“Yes...My Lady...” Jenna murmured in response.
“Seriously, what’s the point of having a husband when he never shows his face?” I whispered under my breath before faking a sad face.
I truly hoped that Jenna would keep her word of relaying my message to Bradon. Most of all, I hoped that he would return back to his mansion so that I could give him a piece of my mind for keeping me locked up here. My eyes narrowed as I stomped back to my room while thinking of what I should say to him when he finally shows his face.
...
“Mhmm...”
My body felt heavy from sleep although I wasn’t deeply asleep. The last time that I managed to drift into a deep and restful sleep was sometime close to dawn on my wedding night. After that, all my nights had either been completely restless or filled with disturbing light sleep. I only fell asleep out of exhaustion after spending many days stressfully thinking of how to escape the current phase of my life. I felt something moving against my arm which prompted me to turn away in my attempt to ignore it.
The sensation of something stroking my arm only intensified before moving down to my waist. I was awake although feeling quite sleepy at that point. My mind felt drugged from sleep and opening my eyes just seemed like a tiresome task that I didn’t want to do. I heard myself letting out a whimper as I felt a pressure against my waist. Soon enough, all the sensations became too vivid and real for me to ignore, and I had to acknowledge the truth that I wasn’t just dreaming this all up.
“Hmm...” I murmured as I forced my eyes open.
Nothing but darkness greeted my sight, but I could already feel that I wasn’t the only one in the bedroom. My senses snapped back to life, and I bolted up sitting on the bed as a loud gasping sound escaped my lips to show my shock.
“Who are you?! How did you get in here?” I asked in rapid succession as I pulled the blanket to cover up my chest protectively.
“Me? I’m the husband that you miss so dearly, and you couldn’t wait to see. This is also my place so naturally I can access all rooms,” he replied in a teasing tone.
“Bradon?” I called his name questioning although I already knew that it was him.
He’s back. He’s finally back!
I recognized his voice even though I couldn’t quite see his face in the darkness of the room. I never thought that his return could make my heart race so fast in my chest like this. The darkness did not persist for much longer before a warm orange light lit up the room from the lamp on the bedside table. Because I didn’t have anything else to do, I spent quite a lot of time thinking about what I should say to Bradon when he came back.
Our last conversation did not end on a positive note and based on our limited interaction; I wasn’t sure how best to talk to him. On top of that, I had failed to learn anything about him while he was away apart from the fact that he seemed to be a tyrant and that everything about him was shrouded in mystery and that was hardly helpful to me at all.
All I knew was his name and that he was a very dangerous man that I had to be absolutely careful around...
Of all the ways and various scenarios that I imagined in my mind of how our conversation could have played out, I never once imagined that we would be reunited in this way. It was late at night, and I was on my bed with nothing but a short lacy nightgown on my body. The bed shifted under his weight and my entire body froze.
How am I supposed to have a productive conversation with him like this when I can’t even think straight?
“Welcome back...” I murmured as I wondered what I was supposed to say.
