Chapter 134: Our Perfect Debut

“Don’t forget...” Bradon turned to remind me again of the rule that he had set just when our limousine came to a stop right in front of the event venue.

“I know. I know already. Stop reminding me over and over again,” I replied without hiding my irritation.

I should have known that Bradon would be a controlling husband, but I didn’t think that it would be to this extent. The crowd outside attracted my attention and I began worrying about my looks. I reached up my hand to pat my hair as I got ready to get out of the car. The party wasn’t just important because it was our first debut at an event together as a married couple. With the election coming up, each and every appearance counted, and I knew that this would be the perfect opportunity for me to reconnect with the societal circle in which I was born and grew up in. Although the party was mask as a charity event hosted by one of the oldest aristocratic families in the country, it was nothing more than another venue for my father and the Vulkans to exert influence on the rich and famous people for them to support my father’s run for prime minister.

Diana would have no problem lobbying these people into submission and getting them to do her bidding. I was also certain that I could do the same under my disguise as my sister; however, that didn’t mean that I didn’t have other things in mind. The definition of a perfect outcome in my father’s book and mine were definitely not the same.

“Be sure to smile and...look like Anthony,” I told Bradon before flashing him a smile.

That’s right. The moment that we step out of the car, he would no longer be Bradon, and I would no longer be Dahlia.

“Just stay by my side,” he replied flatly.

I felt a little more than excited when the car door was opened for us and Bradon stepped out of the car. He turned and offered me his hand just like a perfect gentleman would. The sound outside of members of the press that had formed a crowd around us felt deafeningly loud. I found it quite intimidating and realized that I had been removed from this for a little too long for me to consider this the norm that I am used to.

The moment my eyes met his, a sudden sense of calm enveloped me and the chaotic sound that surrounded us seemed to fade away into the background. My eyes focused on him, and he seemed to capture all of my attention to the extent that I no longer had attention to spare to notice anything else. He offered me his hand and helped me out of the car smoothly before wrapping an arm around my waist and drawing me close to his side protectively.

The Golden Arch event space is one of the largest and one of the most prestigious event spaces in the country. Many notable international events are held here regularly including the renowned international movie award ceremony that is held every summer. The Golden Arch is more well known by its nickname of Wanderwalt, which is nothing but the last name of the Wanderwalt family that owns the place. Sir Wanderwalt has only one daughter and she happens to be Diana and my classmate during our school days.

“It is wonderful to finally see you two together like this out and about at an event. How is married life treating you?” a reporter asked before trying her best to shove a microphone closer to us.

“Where do you plan to go for your honeymoon?”

“Anthony, can you tell us what you love the most about Diana?”

So many questions were asked but all I did was smile and posed for the photographers. There was no use in answering their questions and whatever answers we could provide would be nothing but lies anyways.

“We’re sorry but we need to make it inside. Please request for an official interview for your questions. Thank you again. Please make way. Thank you again,” a member of Anthony’s PR team did the perfect job to excuse us so that we could progress into the event.

I felt the warmth of Bradon’s hand against the small of my back as he urged me forward. We walked side by side as we both made sure to smile appropriately. From all the adoring gazes that looked our way, I was sure that we looked like the most perfect couple out from a fairytale coloring book.

“Are your parents here, Anthony?” I asked sweetly.

“Yes. So are yours,” he replied casually.

The way we both smiled warmly at each other confirmed that we both hated the fact that they were here. I already felt tired and wanted to go straight back home. The heels that I had on were too high and walking in them felt like a hassle although my feet hadn’t started hurting yet. We greeted a few people that we knew. I felt a little tense at first while fearing that someone might be able to tell that I wasn’t my sister. However, after greeting a few people, I was convinced that I still had the knack of acting flawlessly like my twin sister.

I wonder where she is and what she’s up to right now... 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

“Anthony!” Suddenly someone called Anthony’s name.

We turned around to see a tall and well-dressed man approaching us. I wasn’t sure who he was, but Bradon recognized that man right away.

“This is Kevin. Kevin this is Diana, my wife,” Bradon made the introductions smoothly.

“Nice to meet you, My Lady. I wasn’t in the country when you two got married. I’m sorry for not being there,” he said apologetically.

“That’s not a problem at all...” I replied politely.

“Anthony and I went to school together. We played sports together quite often. Good old days,” he said before laughing loudly.

I nodded and smiled. He must have been one of Anthony’s friends from his days at the all-boy school that he attended.
