Chapter 899: Chapter 899 : A Happy Day

*Leo*

I couldn’t believe it had been two weeks already since everything with Elijah went down. The story we had come up with continued to air on every local and national news station. All the different news reporters repeated the same thing. The LA mafia’s violence had been escalating for some time now, it was bound to catch up to them eventually, they’d all say. The public seemed to buy it easily and without question. Surprisingly, the police department followed suit, believing without a second thought.

Nothing of me or my family had ever been mentioned. Which was exactly how we preferred it.

Thanks to Franky, he got everything we needed out of Elijah to take down Michael. After I had taken Bianca to my old apartment the night of the attack, Franky escorted Elijah to one of our warehouses. Franky had admitted that it took a lot of persuasion to get the information we needed, but he got it nonetheless.

Franky and I had met up with our crew to prepare ourselves to take down Michael. We had a plan set and we were ready to move forward.

As for Bianca and I, well, our relationship was even stronger than before. I felt an incredible relief now that I had been free of the lies. As if a huge weight had been lifted off my chest and I can finally inhale a full breath for a change.

I wouldn’t have to lie to her anymore about anything and I knew that would make a huge difference in our relationship. We could ditch the fighting and just be us again. All of our fights had always been because she thought I was lying and hiding things from her. So, now that she knew the truth, there was no fuel for the fights. That in itself was a relief.

We had a perfect night back at my old apartment that night. When we both had woken up the next morning, we had decided to remain there for a while until the cleaning crew had my estate looking like it did before the shootout.

Bianca and I had ordered breakfast and stayed in. Our bodies collided more than once that day and by the evening, we had finally been able to get back into the estate. I had made sure to give each member of the clean-up crew a generous bonus for their speedy work.

It may have taken two full weeks, but things had finally started to go back to normal. Aside from the lying part, of course. Bianca didn’t know everything, and thankfully, she had no desire to. What I had told her two weeks ago was enough for her and I felt grateful she didn’t want to know more. It worked for us.

All she had asked was that I tell her the truth about where I was really going when I left the house. Instead of spewing some lie about a client, I could finally tell her when I was off meeting Franky. I probably wouldn’t tell her any detailed reasons, but at least she’d know the truth of where I was. Who I was with.

I chuckled at the thought of her truly thinking I had been cheating on her. Bianca obviously had no idea how much I adored her and loved her. There was no other woman in the world that compared to her. I wanted to prove that to her every chance I had.

And maybe I just wanted to make up for all the lying and all the times she had doubted herself when she wasn’t entirely wrong. I had felt incredibly terrible for making her feel like she had been crazy. For making her doubt herself. It was a shitty thing of me to do to the woman I love.

Bianca had started school about a week and a half ago. She loved every moment of it. At least, that was what she always told me when she’d get home from her classes. I was happy that she was finally happy and enjoying herself.

I felt like we could finally put all the bad stuff behind us. Burn the bridge to the past and look forward to the future. Our future, together. Nothing made me happier. And I know Bianca felt the same.

Well, that and once I take down Michael, everything will be as it should be. Bianca will be safe. My family will be safe.

It was Friday and Bianca’s last class of the day was set to end in about thirty minutes. I decided to surprise her on campus and take her to get food.

On my way to the campus, I stopped by a flower shop and picked up a dozen sunflowers. I wanted to do something nice for her and to show her how much I loved her. She deserved the world and I intended to give it to her.

When I arrived, I pulled into the parking lot beside the building her class was located within. I got out and leaned against my bright red Firebird, sunflowers in hand. The sun was warm against my skin, and I casually took in my surroundings.

College students meandered about, sporting heavy looking backpacks. Some of them clutched more books to their chest, their arms wrapped firmly around them. A few of the young women smiled blushingly at me as they passed by. I ignored them and kept my eyes on the door where Bianca would be coming out of.

Sure enough, a few moments later, I finally saw the door open with Bianca appearing around it. It didn’t take her long to spot me. A wide smile spread across her face as she quickened her pace to get to me.

“What are you doing here?” She beamed, throwing her arms around me.

“I thought I’d surprise you,” I said smoothly, kissing her temple.

“Awe, that is so sweet, Leo,” she sang.

“These are for you.”

I handed her the sunflowers, and she thanked me thoughtfully. She hugged me again and pressed her lips to mine.

“I love you,” she smiled, staring into my eyes.

“And I love you,” I assured her as I caressed her cheek. “Are you ready?”

“Where are we going?” She asked, squinting her eyes with a cheeky smile.

“Well, are you hungry?” I questioned, already knowing the answer.

I opened the car door for her and removed her backpack from her shoulders.

“I’m starving,” she replied quickly.

“Good,” I smiled. “Let’s go get some food.”

“That sounds good,” she agreed easily.

I walked over to the driver’s side and tossed her book bag into the backseat of the car. I climbed inside and started the engine. My hand found its place on Bianca’s thigh before I started to drive out of the parking lot.

“What are you in the mood for?” I asked her.

Bianca could be a bit particular when it came to where and what she wanted to eat. I had learned to just let her decide. I wasn’t picky and I could usually always find something I liked.

“You know, I could really go for a burger and fries right now,” she chuckled.

“Oh, really?” I laughed. “The good old classic American dinner, huh?”

She reached her arm out and swatted me playfully. “Yes! It’s so weird, but I’ve been craving a big juicy burger and salty fries all day.”

“Hey, there’s nothing wrong with that,” I replied, squeezing her thigh slightly. “I will get you whatever you desire, my love.”

Bianca smiled and met my eyes for a moment until I had to look back at the road. “You’re amazing.”

She put the sunflowers up to her nose and inhaled. “And I love these flowers, Leo. It’s such a thoughtful gesture.”

“You deserve flowers every single day,” I assured her.

We pulled up to the best burger shop in the city about fifteen minutes later. I quickly got out of the car and went around to open her door. She took my hand, and we walked inside together.

“Order anything you want,” I told her.

Bianca studied the chalkboard menu on the wall before speaking. “Can we order extra for later?”

I laughed. “Of course.”

Her wide smile returned and she riddled off her order to the man behind the counter. I placed my order and we sat at the closest table to wait for the food to be cooked.

Bianca told me all about her day. She said she was loving all of her classes, but of course, had a favorite class and a favorite professor. Isabel was only in one of her classes, which she felt a little bummed about.

I didn’t mind Isabel, she seemed like a nice girl. She had Bianca’s back at the dance club that night, which I highly appreciated. Isabel seemed like a good girl to have as a friend. I was happy that Bianca had met her and became friends with her. I felt it was important for her to have girlfriends and to be able to go out and have fun on her own sometimes.

Finally, the man brought over three large brown paper bags.

“Thank you,” I nodded my head to the man.

“Aren’t we eating here?” Bianca asked.

I shook my head and smiled. “Nope. I thought we’d drive and find somewhere with a pretty view.”

“Awe, that sounds perfect, Leo,” she beamed, grabbing a bag off the table.

I chuckled and grabbed the other two bags. We headed back out towards the car and hopped inside. The engine roared to life and I drove in the direction of this great lookout spot. I was sure Bianca had never been there before and I knew she’d love it.

It took a little less than twenty minutes to arrive at our destination. I pulled on to the dirt road and parked.

“What do you think?” I asked, looking over at her.

She marveled at the view. “Wow. This is beautiful.”

“I thought you’d like it,” I smiled, feeling pleased with myself.

“How did you find this place?” She asked, curiously.

“I used to come here a lot when I needed a break from everything. A place I could come and just breathe, you know?” I admitted.

She nodded her head slowly. “Yeah, I do. I love it. Thank you for sharing this place with me.”

“I want to share everything with you,” I assured her. “Come on.”

I got out of the car and grabbed the bags. Bianca followed suit. I grabbed a blanket out of the backseat of the car and laid it on the hood of the car. I placed the bags down and helped her climb up. Once she was sitting on the hood of my car, I climbed up beside her and we started emptying the bags.

“Hey, Leo,” she said softly.

“Yeah?”

“I’m really glad you told me the truth about everything,” she smiled lovingly. “I’m just really happy right now.”

I smiled and pulled her close to me. “I’m really happy too.”

“Good. Now let’s eat,” she laughed. “I can’t wait for this burger to be inside my mouth!”

I joined in her laughter as we dug into our food happily.
