Chapter 898: Chapter 898 : The Truth

*Bianca*

Dusk had been lurking behind us as Leo pulled the car into a parking lot of an apartment building. I wasn’t sure where we were going. I hadn’t asked. To be honest, I hadn’t been able to say a word since Leo had picked me up and carried me out to his car. He had placed me inside and started driving.

The whole drive I hadn’t spoken. I hadn’t known what to say. Maybe I had been in shock, still processing everything I had just witnessed. Leo hadn’t tried to speak either. He remained silent with his right hand firmly hugging my thigh while his left hand gripped the steering wheel. His knuckles had begun to turn white from the intensity of his grip.

Leo climbed out of his car and walked around to open my door. He reached out his hand, inviting me to take it. I hesitated for a moment, staring at his hand. My eyes met his and he gave me a sort of apologetic smile.

Regardless of everything that had just happened, he was still Leo. My Leo. I still loved him.

My hand found his and he helped me out of the car. Our hands remained entangled as he led us towards the front door of the apartment building.

“Hello, sir. It’s been a long time,” the doorman spoke to Leo.

Leo nodded his head at the man and pulled me inside the heavy wooden double doors. We stepped inside an elevator and Leo pressed the button that had a gold number four painted on it.

“That man knew you,” I said in a neutral tone without looking at him.

I saw his head turn to look at me out of the corner of my eye.

“I used to live here,” he said simply.

I nodded my head slowly. “Oh.”

Leo sighed and led us out of the elevator once the doors opened, revealing the fourth floor. The hallways were a path of dark marble flooring. Fancy paintings sprinkled the walls, and the drapes were a heavy royal blue velvet fabric.

“So, you’ve always been rich?” I asked, marveling at the interior.

He stopped in front of the door that had the number fourteen painted on it. Leo turned to me and cupped my face in his big hands.

“I promise you, I am going to tell you everything, Bianca,” he said in a soft tone. “But first, let’s shower and get changed.”

I nodded my head easily. “A shower sounds nice.”

He offered a small smile. “It does, doesn’t it?”

I returned his smile.

He took out his keys and stuck one inside the lock. The gray door opened, and I was surprised at how empty it looked inside. There wasn’t a single piece of furniture in the living room and all the walls were bare.

Leo led me through the living room and down a hallway until we reached a chestnut brown stained wooden door. As he opened it, it appeared to be what used to be his bedroom. There was a dresser, a nightstand, and a lamp, but no bed.

He went over to the dresser and pulled out a pile of clothes.

“You’ll have to wear some of my old clothes,” he said.

“That’s all right. Thank you,” I offered.

Leo led us into the bathroom and turned the knob inside the shower until the water was raining down at a powerful rate. It didn’t take long for the steam to appear.

“Should I wait out there until you’re done?” I asked, as he began to undress.

“No,” he chuckled. “Come on.”

I wasn’t sure how I was feeling but getting naked in front of Leo right now and showering with him wasn’t exactly what I had thought I’d be doing tonight.

“It’s just a shower,” he said softly, holding out his hand.

I chuckled softly to myself. He was right. It was just a shower.

I slipped my pants off and took the rest of my clothes off before putting my hand in his. The water was warm, almost too hot as I stepped under the rain. It felt nice, though.

“May I?” I heard Leo ask.

I turned to look at him, wiping the water from my eyes. He was holding a bottle of soap. I nodded my head.

“Sure.”

I stepped away from the water and felt his slick hands glide over my back. He rubbed soap all over my body and I had to admit, it felt good. My eyes closed easily as I had lost myself in the moment.

When he was done, I grabbed his biceps and switched places with him. I grabbed the soap and squeezed a bunch into my hands.

“Your turn,” I offered thoughtfully.

“You don’t have to do that,” he chuckled.

I shrugged. “I know, but I want to.”

He nodded his head, planting a kiss on my forehead. I rubbed soap all over his muscular body. My hands glided over his back, his neck, his biceps. For a moment, I got so lost, I had forgotten the events that had just taken place earlier that night.

When we both finished washing our hair, Leo turned the knob to stop the rainfall. He stepped out of the shower and grabbed two black plush towels from out of the cupboard. He handed one to me and I wrapped it around myself as I stepped out of the shower.

We dried off at a casual pace and put the clothes on that he had found in the dresser. We each sported a pair of gray sweatpants and black t-shirts. They were a bit big on me, but they felt cozy. Comforting.

“Let’s talk,” he said, caressing my cheek.

I nodded my head. “I’m ready.”

He kissed my forehead again and headed out into his room. He went into the closet and grabbed out a stack of blankets and a couple pillows.

“There might be some candles in the hallway closet,” he said as we walked out into the hallway.

I opened the door to the closet and spotted three large pillar candles. An odd thing to have in a closet, I had thought to myself as I grabbed all three of them. Leo had placed a couple of the blankets on the floor in the middle of the living room. I set the candles down on the floor beside the blankets.

Leo disappeared into the kitchen area until he came back with a box of matches in his hand. He shook them and smiled.

“I knew these would come in handy at some point,” he laughed.

He sat down next to me on the patch of blankets and pulled out a match. He swiped it against the box until a flame had been produced. The flame lingered on the wick of each candle.

Leo turned to look at me and took my hands in his. His eyes lingered over our hands before his eyes focused on mine.

“I’m going to tell you everything that I can, but I don’t want to tell you too much,” he said in a soft tone.

I nodded my head. “Tell me.”

He inhaled carefully and exhaled before speaking. “The real estate thing is true, but there’s obviously more to it. I’m in the mafia. And not just in it, I am the Don.”

So, the jokes were spot on. Leo, my boyfriend, is a mafia boss. Holy shit. That’s kind of fucking wild.

“That Elijah man that approached you at the dance club, was the right-hand man of the mafia boss for the LA mafia. They had been trying to destroy me. That’s why I had a crew of my men watching you. To keep you safe in case of something like that happening.”

Leo took a breath. “It was a dispute that had gotten out of hand. It’s over now.”

“You’re in the mafia,” I repeated his words.

“Yes,” he replied simply. “Can you live with that?”

His eyes bored into mine. All of the love I had for him was still coursing through my veins. Could I live with the fact that my boyfriend was in the mafia?

“I can,” I finally said aloud.

A wide smile spread across Leo’s face. “Yeah?”

I nodded my head and let out a laugh. “Yes. I mean, it’s a lot, but honestly, it’s better than you cheating on me.”

Leo laughed, kissing my lips. “Why would you ever think that I could be capable of cheating on you? I love you, Bianca. You’re beautiful and sweet. I only ever want you. I promise you that.”

“Really?” I smiled, tilting my head.

“Really,” he reassured me, pressing his lips to mine gently. “Just one question.”

“Yes?” I asked, curiously.

“Does my being in the mafia scare you at all?” he asked, carefully.

I thought about that for a moment before answering. “It does scare me a little, but I love you. Honestly, I think I just feel relieved that I finally know the truth.”

“I understand. It’s okay to feel scared. But I’m glad you feel relieved and happy,” he replied, caressing my cheek. “I am so sorry for lying to you about everything. I never wanted to lie to you. I only wanted to protect you.”

“I understand that now, Leo,” I told him lovingly. “I forgive you for lying. You thought that’s what you had to do to protect me. How could I be mad at you for that?”

He smiled. “I’m glad you understand.”

“Well, I’m glad you’re not lying to me any more and that you’re not cheating,” I laughed, picking up the pillow and playfully swatted him with it.

Leo laughed, taking the pillow from me. He swatted me back softly and scooped me up in his arms.

“I am all yours, Bianca,” he said in a low voice.

“And I am all yours, Leo,” I replied, quietly.

His lips gravitated towards mine and I leaned into his kiss. He laid me down on the blankets and placed a pillow underneath my head.

“Thank you,” I giggled softly.

“Anything for you, my love,” he whispered against my lips.

Leo’s hand slid up my shirt and cupped my breast. He massaged it gently as his lips trickled down my neck. My fingers ran through his hair as I let out a moan.

“Don’t make me wait,” I breathed. “Not tonight.”

His dark eyes met mine as he bit his lip. “As you wish.”

He stood up and took his shirt off. Then, he slid his pants down and kicked them off to the side. He fell to knees and stuck his fingers inside the waistband of my sweatpants before pulling them off. I took my shirt off and tossed it in the air.

Leo climbed on top of me and pressed his lips against mine. I felt his fingers rubbing between my legs before I felt the pressure of him pushing inside of me. A louder moan left my body and my nails dug into the skin on his arms.

“I love you,” he groaned, staring into my eyes.

“I love you,” I breathed.

An hour later, we both collapsed onto the patch of blankets. Our breathing was ragged and we both turned to smile at each other.

“Why is there no furniture in here?” I asked, catching my breath.

Leo laughed. “I took it all with me when I moved into Elio’s estate.”

“Oh, right. That makes sense,” I replied. “Does it feel weird being back in your old apartment?”

“Not really,” he replied quickly. “Although, I do kind of miss living in a normal sized space.”

I laughed. “Me too. The estate is huge! It always feels like you’re miles away from me when we sleep in our own rooms.”

“Well, we can change that,” he said, bringing his lips to mine once more.

“That would be nice,” I replied, happily.

“Come here,” he said softly, opening his arm up.

I moved closer to him, resting my head on his chest.

“Let’s get some sleep. I’m exhausted,” he chuckled.

“I feel the same,” I agreed, closing my eyes.

I felt him kiss my forehead and surprisingly, sleep came on suddenly.
