Han Yu's eyes widened slightly.

"One of them," the old man went on, "was the Sanguine Obsession Divine Art."

Han Yu's breath caught.

That name was infamous.

The Sanguine Obsession Divine Art was one of the core pillars of the Slaughtered Moon Divine Blood Sect. A supreme cultivation technique that bordered on madness. It allowed its practitioner to convert obsession itself into power. Desire, hatred, fixation. All became fuel.

It was said that this technique alone was responsible for the Supreme Elder's meteoric rise.

Han Yu had never imagined that it came from the Inheritance Stelae.

"Because of that technique," the Peak Head said, "he rose from an inner court disciple to a supreme elder over the years. And his contributions reshaped the sect."

Han Yu swallowed.

The Peak Head continued, his voice lowering. "It is also rumored that he obtained curse arts from the Stelae. Techniques that later became the foundation of many of the sect's slave seals and mind-binding methods."

Han Yu's pupils contracted.

Curse arts.

Slave techniques.

The words struck him like a hammer.

For the first time since the conversation began, his composure nearly cracked.

If that rumor was true…

If the Stelae truly contained curse arts related to slave seals…

Then this was no longer merely an opportunity.

It was a lifeline.

Han Yu felt his thoughts spiral rapidly. Xuan Qing. Meng Jueyan. The countless others dragged into slavery. The tracking formations embedded in their seals. The impossibility of removing them with conventional means.

He had always believed that freeing them would require years. Perhaps decades. Perhaps a miracle.

But what if the miracle was already there, waiting?

The Peak Head watched him carefully now, noticing the subtle shift in his demeanor.

"It seems," the old man said quietly, "that you have found something worth gambling for."

Han Yu steadied himself.

His expression grew solemn, heavy with determination.

"Yes," he said.

He did not elaborate. He did not need to.

The Peak Head nodded slowly, as if confirming something to himself.

"Then prepare yourself," he said. "When you stand before the Inheritance Stelae, you will not be judged as Ju Fan the puppet artisan. You will be judged as Ju Fan the seeker or perhaps... a beggar."

Han Yu lowered his head deeply in respect.

"I will not waste this chance."

"Then take this jade slip. If you succeed you can contact me with this." Having said that the Peak Head turned away, the frost around the warehouse beginning to recede.

As for what would happen if he failed, Han Yu didn't dare ask.

"We shall see," the old man added. "Whether fate truly intends to return what was lost… or merely test how much you are willing to burn to reach it."

As the ice melted and the doors slowly unlocked, Han Yu remained standing in silence.

His heart was calm now.

Not because the path ahead was easy.

But because for the first time since entering this sect, he could see it clearly.

One hundred thousand merit points.

A chamber of judgment.

A gamble against fate itself.

And perhaps, hidden within that gamble, the key to breaking chains that had never been meant to be broken.

Han Yu clenched his fist slowly.

Whatever awaited him in the Inheritance Stelae, he would face it head-on.

Han Yu showed a wry smile as the Peak Head disappeared.

He let out a sigh and began to work on the good sorting puppet while thinking about what preparation he might need to do. He knew little about the Stelae and how much time it took for a person to obtain a legacy.

After all not many took part, as such he'll have to look into it. And depending on how much time it would take, he'll have to stock up supplies for Xuan Qing, and Meng Jueyan. He'll also have to contact Qing Luan and her people, to tell them he'll be unavailable for a bit.

Letting out another sigh, Han Yu focused on the work. It was going to take a while after all.

Two days later, he finally left the warehouse, having underestimated the damage. He couldn't help but curse the overseers of the warehouse for not doing maintenance regularly.

"They don't even need to pay from their own pockets. Why become a cheapskate with maintenance when the sect pays for it." Han Yu groaned.

It was clear they had pushed the puppet to work nonstop without proper care, and that's why it had ended up in this state.

With that done, Han Yu returned to the puppet peak, reported his mission, took his merit points and went directly to look into the Stelae's matter. This turned out to be harder than he had expected, as most people knew the same thing as him, mere rumors.

Some said it can take a year, some said it only takes a few second. The time was far too varied. Han Yu didn't know if he could risk an entire year for this. With the day almost over, he decided to get supplies and have them send to his cave.

And while walking back, he continued muttering to himself.

Just as he reached the path on which his cave was though, a person stopped him. Han Yu looked at the person and saw that it was a young woman who looked to be in her twenties. There was a single scar on her cheek, and she was wearing the same robes as him, and outer court disciple.

Though Han Yu didn't recognize her.

She spoke to him again, "What did you just say?"

Han Yu was a bit confused but then realized she probably had heard him mutter.

"The Inheritance Stelea?" Han Yu repeated.

"You're looking to enter it?" The woman asked.

"I am. But what does that mean to you?" Han Yu asked, resuming his cold Ju Fan persona. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

The woman looked at Ju Fan. Not feeling intimidated the least bit.

"I am Hou Luli. And I've been to the Inheritance Stelea before." The woman stated.
