Strongest Necromancer System-Chapter 740: Making A Choice
[With Jason]
Jason let out a sigh as he relaxed under the shade of a tree in the large garden. Beside him, there was a large piece of paper with multiple runes drawn on it as well as a book on Vympirs that Jason had gotten from Hesbeath. After the training that destroyed the entire world yesterday, Hesbeath and Jason had been forced to sleep on a large blanket under the open stars since the house had been blown away, and Hesbeath made Jason promise not to do any training today since she didn’t want to sleep outside for a second day in a row. So rather than training his Resonance and magic, Jason decided that he would just train his Runes and Blood Arts instead. The book that Jason got from Hesbeath was something that Hesbeath had gotten from Gillian a long time ago. It was an important Vympir literature that detailed both the history of the Vympirs as well as the different classes, weaknesses, and strengths of the Vympir classes. Jason already got a lot of knowledge from Hesbeath’s mind during his time as her Changeling, but by reading this book, Jason was able to make sense of a lot of what he saw in Gillina’s memories. According to the literature, the Vympirs had been in existence for as long as the Grim Reaper himself. The first set of Vympirs were a group of twelve souls that rebelled against the Grim Reaper and escaped from the Afterlife. They were led by the original Vympir, Dracula, and after returning to the mortal world, they formed the highest authority of the Vympir world known as the Seat of Dead Apostles.
Every Vympir in existence originated from those twelve, and before any Vympir can become one of the Dead Apostles, they must be both a descendant of the Original Dead Apostle as well as the inheritor of the Blood Oath of the previous Dead Apostle. As Jason read, he began to understand more and more about the responsibility that had just been put on his shoulders. Jason had never thought about becoming the ruler of any world. Even though he knew he had more than enough power to take over any world up to Rank III, he didn’t have the time to deal with the responsibility that came with conquest! But it looked like that responsibility had somehow found its way to him now!
’So I have the right to claim the First Seat of the Dead Apostles now and become the ruler of Nox.’
Jason leaned back on the tree and let out a calm sigh as he watched the day go by, and he thought about what he would do next. Jason knew that he couldn’t just ignore the responsibility that came with receiving Gillian’s Blood Oath. The Vympirs would definitely come looking for him very soon, and he would need to make a choice about what he would do before then. Jason already knew in his heart that he did not want to take up that mantle. Even though he was now the first seat of the Dead Apostles, he wasn’t interested in being the ruler of any world, and he would rather just go back home and continue living a normal life with his family.
’What the hell are you talking about, boy!? Do you know how much power you’ll have as the leader of Nox! That world is one of the most powerful in the entire Primordial Expanse! They don’t involve themselves in wars that much, but there is no denying that having them on your side can change the tide of any war!’
Esdeath was obviously not in support of Jason’s decision at all! Esdeath knew that Jason was not the sort of person who wanted to take leadership positions since Jason preferred to have his freedom! This was how Jason had avoided becoming the head of his Monarch Guild, and Jason had only been the head in name alone! But this time, Esdeath wasn’t going to just stay silent! Esdeath knew that Jason could gain a lot of benefits from taking the first seat of the Dead Apostles and becoming the leader of Nox! Jason just hummed calmly as he listened to Esdeath’s words, and he still didn’t feel convinced! Jason just didn’t see any benefits of becoming the leader of Nox that he couldn’t get if he wanted them! Right now, Jason was already the wielder of the Blood Oath that once belonged to Gillian as well as a Blue Sun Vympir, and this automatically made Jason one of the most powerful Vympirs in that entire world! Jason had control over every single Changeling that Gillian had ever created, and that was well over five thousand Vympirs that were willing to do anything that Jason commanded them to do! Even if Jason didn’t take the seat, there was nothing anyone could do to challenge his authority!
Jason decided that he wasn’t going to take the seat! Taking the seat meant that Jason would have to leave behind his life on Earth and become a permanent resident of Nox, but Jason preferred to live on Earth with his mother and sister, so Jason would either have to give up on the seat and leave it to someone else, or Jason would just have to find a way to rule Nox without Jason being there himself!
’Lamina was the one who ruled over Nox while Gillian was under the [Cage of Eternity] right? And she managed to do it even though she was still a White Sun Vympir...’
Jason hummed calmly as this thought came to mind, and Jason realised that he could use this to his advantage. Lamina was one of Gillian’s former Changelings, and now that Jason had Gillian’s Blood Oath, that meant that Lamina was now under his control. Since Jason didn’t want to be on Nox all the time, then it wouldn’t be so bad for him to put her to work instead!
’Sigh~ I don’t even know what to do with you anymore! I don’t know if you have a lack of ambition or if your ambitions are just too strange!’
Esdeath sighed dramatically from within Jason’s mind, and Jason just chuckled as he closed the Vympir literature and put it aside! Everything Jason did was for his family! From his desire to gain power, to all the journeys and dangers that Jason had faced! Everything was just for Jason’s family! So if there was anything that Jason knew would help him make his family safer, then he would do it! But even though Jason was also desperate to gain power, Jason didn’t think leaving his family behind was the right thing to do! Jason looked up to his father and wanted to be more like him, but Jason refused to leave his family behind like his father had done!
Jason put his hands behind his head and closed his eyes while enjoying the gentle breeze blowing across the garden, and Jason stayed this way for the next few minutes as he basked in the peaceful quiet all around him! But it wasn’t long before he felt a mana signature coming towards him, and Jason released a quiet breath as he recognized it as Hesbeath’s mana. Jason and Hesbeath had been in a very strange position ever since they had the conversation where Jason said that he would rather hurt Hesbeath than hurt Gina. Jason could tell that Hesbeath had still not given up on trying to tempt him, but for some reason, Hesbeath was no longer asking him to accept her right now! Hesbeath still tried her best to seduce Jason and she slept in the same bed as Jason, but Hesbeath was no longer forcing Jason to touch her or kiss her, and Jason was glad for that at least.
