Stranger Danger-Chapter 1777: Divine Furnace of Nature’s Remnant Spirit
Are you really asking me that?
The Divine Furnace of Nature’s remnant spirit mentally complained inside his head, though it knew he couldn’t actually say that. While wearing an obsequious smile on his face, he said, “I know that I have offended you earlier, young friend. That is why I have come to apologize. This old one hopes that you can show magnanimity and forgive me for my transgression.”
“And how are you planning to apologize, exactly? With your mouth?” Ye Qing said with a ridiculing smile on his face.
The corners of the remnant spirit’s lips twitched. It would appear that the young man wasn’t satisfied even after robbing him of his Rainbow Divine Flame.
The remnant spirit wasn’t angry though. On the contrary, he was delighted.
That was because he was hoping that this would happen.
He would’ve been more worried if the young man wasn’t greedy.
After all, no one died faster than a greedy person!
He was just about to speak up when Ye Qing said, “That is what I said, but it is a joke to liven up the atmosphere. Please pay it no heed.”
The remnant spirit was caught off guard by the sudden U-turn. Why did the young man suddenly change his mind? What was he plotting?
Ye Qing continued, “This junior forced you to show up purely because I have a question to ask. This junior would be grateful enough if you answer my questions honestly!”
He wants answers, not treasures?
Although he couldn’t keep up with Ye Qing’s train of thought, the remnant spirit still replied, “Ask me anything, young friend. This old one will answer to the best of his abilities!”
“In that case, thank you in advance.”
After saluting the remnant spirit in thanks, Ye Qing tapped the space in front of him and conjured White Robe Demon Master’s appearance. “Have you met him before, senior?”
The remnant spirit examined the image carefully before shaking his head. “I’m sorry, I have never seen him before.”
“In fact, the two of you are the first people I met, and the first people to appear in this realm since my awakening.”
“Understood.” Ye Qing nodded uncaringly. Or rather, he had already anticipated this answer. So, he asked another question, “Can you tell us how the Divine Court collapsed?”
He was asking this out of pure curiosity. It was a question probably everyone in the world had wondered about at least once or twice in their lives, and he so happened to catch a living fossil who lived through the downfall of the Divine Court. With all that said, why wouldn’t he ask the Divine Furnace of Nature’s remnant spirit about it?
The remnant spirit sighed. “The Primal Origin is renewed, the Great Way is replaced. The old cycle ends, and the new cycle begins.”
“Excuse me, but can you speak human?” Ye Qing voiced his confusion. “Can you answer me in plain, understandable speech?”
“To put it simply, the celestials and the gods are fated to perish, and the humans are fated to rise. That is all.”
The remnant spirit’s tone was sorrowful and helpless. “All things in life are fated including life and death. The Divine Court, the celestials and the gods are no exception.”
“The ancient Divine Court was fated to exist only in ancient times. The fate of the celestials and gods do not exist in the future either. The celestials and the gods make the rules, and the human race thrived for ten thousand years. The rise of the human race also caused fate to start favoring them. Once the Divine Court has fulfilled its mission, and their fate has run its course, fate no longer favored them or the Divine Court. So, a great tribulation arrived and destroyed them all.”
Ye Qing frowned. “The masters of the Thirty Six Heavens boasted immeasurable power, and the ruler of the Divine Court sounded practically omnipotent. Did they not try to change fate?”
The remnant spirit sighed forlornly. “How can you change something that cannot be resisted?”
“So what if they're gods? Celestials? As long as they don't break free from the river of fate, they are no different from the ants on the ground.”
“How can a mere ant fight against heaven and earth?”
Ye Qing could hear the self-derision and helplessness in his voice. “So, where did the ruler of the Divine Court and the masters of the Thirty Six Heavens go? Did they all perish?”
The remnant spirit mulled over his question before answering, “I do not know.”
Ye Qing raised his eyebrows. “What do you mean, you don’t know?”
“It is what it sounds like.” The remnant spirit smiled bitterly. “What makes you think that a nobody like me can fathom the depths of a master?”
“Besides, I am just a remnant spirit. I have lost much of my memory.”
Ye Qing did not respond to that. “Just tell me what you suspect happened to them, senior.”
The remnant spirit took a moment to think. “Some may have perished. Some may have sealed themselves and fallen into a long slumber. Some may be trying to reincarnate using some sort of Magia or secret arts. That is all I can say.”
Ye Qing nodded. He suspected as much. He could not believe that the impossibly powerful celestial sovereigns and divine lords of the Divine Court were all dead. It was plainly unrealistic.
“Alright, I have one last question. How can I leave this place and travel to another Heaven?”
White Robe Demon Master wasn’t here, and he had already gotten something out of this venture. Greed was a vice, so he was planning to leave this place.
The remnant spirit looked surprised. “Are you leaving?”
“We’re looking for our companion, so we won’t bother you any longer,” Ye Qing answered honestly. “Please point us the way, senior.”
The Divine Furnace of Nature’s remnant spirit: “...” This is not going according to plan. You hold all the cards right now, so shouldn’t you press your advantage and make more unreasonable and greedy demands?
Why are you quitting? Why are you stopping now?
If you leave, then how am I going to finish my act?
“Ahem... the way to leave the Profound Furnace Spirit Weapons Heaven and enter the other Heavens is the Divine Arms Peak a couple hundred kilometers away from here.”
The remnant spirit’s eyes twirled. “However, it is not easy to scale the mountain.”
“Oh well. I might as well see this through until the end. I will escort you away from this Heaven myself. In the meantime, I will explain to you the origin of the Divine Arms Peak and its dangers.”
Ye Qing saluted him. “Thank you, senior.”
“You’re welcome. Follow me.”
The remnant spirit took the lead and took off toward a certain direction. It wasn’t long before they arrived at a towering mountain.
The mountain was no ordinary mountain. Specifically, it was a mountain of divine arms and treasures. It looked colorful, bright, and grandiose.
“This is the Divine Arms Peak.”
The remnant spirit said, “Just ascend to the top, and you’ll be able to travel to another Heaven.”
“Beware though. The Divine Arms Peak is made of countless divine arms and treasures. It was built by the Weapon Might Divine Sovereign. Those who try to scale it without his permission will suffer immensely. Every time you take a step, you will feel like a divine weapon is cutting into your body. Every time you scale an inch, you will feel as if a treasure is ripping your insides. If you are not careful, you will fall into an eternal purgatory and perish in mind and soul.”
“Besides that, you must satisfy two conditions while scaling the Divine Arms Peak. One, your feet must be firmly planted on the ground. Your feet must not leave the ground for even an instant. Two, you can only go forward, not backward. If you do, you will instantly return to the foot of the mountain and be forced to start over.”
“As the Divine Sovereign is missing, I cannot give you a permission token. So, please take my warnings seriously.”
“Sounds like a chore.”
Ye Qing looked at the remnant spirit with a furrowed brow. “You are the spirit of this Heaven, senior. Surely you can help us somehow.”
“Er...” The remnant spirit looked troubled. “I’ll be honest. If I was at peak condition, then of course I can send you both to the top of the Divine Arms Peak and send you away from this Heaven effortlessly.”
“However, I am just a remnant spirit now, and my strength is nothing like what it used to be. I simply cannot...”
