Chapter 1090: Desperation Move, Do Or Die

Supreme Origin Profound Sovereign replied indifferently, “The end of death is life. That is all. Life and death, death and life. They are but one thin line away from each other.”

“Your cultivation is great, Dao brother. This Dao sister is impressed.”

Silver Moon Sacred Lord saluted him before continuing, “However, I must warn you that this tracking method of yours may alert our quarry as to our presence as well.”

The copy Supreme Origin Profound Sovereign created based on a living being’s energy allowed it to detect their original. Naturally, the original could detect the copy’s presence as well.

“It’s fine. It’s just an ant.”

Supreme Origin Profound Sovereign said coldly, “Besides, a startled prey is a prey more prone to mistakes and subsequently, death.”

With that said, Supreme Origin Profound Sovereign tossed the doll into the air. Hovering, the doll sniffed the air once before taking off toward the distance. It was gone in just the blink of an eye.

“Let’s go!”

Supreme Origin Profound Sovereign cut through the air like a sword beam. Silver Moon Sacred Lord was right behind him.

......

“Huh? What’s going on?”

At the same time, Ye Qing suddenly felt something and looked in a certain direction.

It was a strange feeling. It felt as if something connected to his energies were chasing after him. He could not tell exactly what it was, however. It was very strange.

“That’s... the direction of the Five Color Mountain, wasn’t it?”

Ye Qing rubbed his nose while muttering to himself, “Did I make a mistake? Is the Five Color Tree still alive, and it’s returned to take revenge?”

“Or perhaps someone is tracking me using some sort of secret art?”

“Could it be... West Kunlun?!”

Ye Qing immediately recalled the sect he had thoroughly offended some time ago.

If there existed anyone in Kunlun Ruins with the skill and the motive to track him down, then it could only be the members of West Kunlun.

“Are these idiots sick in the head or what? This place is rife with opportunities, and they choose to squander all that and come after me?”

Ye Qing could not help but swear. “The question is, are they sending the small fries after me, or the Sages?”

“They couldn’t have... right?”

Ye Qing couldn’t help but swallow nervously. The alarm bells inside his head were ringing in full force.

If West Kunlun had dispatched a couple of Great Truemen or Half Sages after him, he was sure he could handle it somehow. Even if he couldn’t, he could easily run away.

If they sent a Sage after him too, then there was no chance in hell he could defeat them. Worse, it was a question whether he could even escape from them.

Frankly, the only realistic thing he could do assuming a Sage caught up to him was to kowtow to him or her and hope that it was satisfying enough for them to grant him a swift death!

“Motherfucker! The possibility isn’t zero!”

The more Ye Qing thought about it, the more he thought it was likely that West Kunlun had dispatched a Sage after him. Last he checked, there were four of them in total. It would be reasonable for them to send one after him, wouldn’t it?

Most importantly, his fortune was protected by the Earthly Sovereign Bell, and his destiny the Annon Sutra. It should be absolutely impossible for anyone below the Sage stage—hell, even an ordinary Sage—to track him down, and yet his tracker was doing that right now. It was the most direct proof of their power.

If he had to guess, the one tracking him down was one of the four Sages he had sensed earlier. It might... even be more than one Sage.

“It’s just one thing after another, isn’t it? What a pain!”

Ye Qing massaged his forehead furiously. He hadn’t even found Yi Pin yet, and his foe was already hot on his heels. Why could things never be easy for him?

“This won’t work. I need to shake them off somehow.”

Ye Qing was never one to give up and die. Victory or defeat wasn’t decided until the last moment.

Besides, this was the Kunlun Ruins. The rivers of fate here were muddied, and the dangers were everywhere. If he happened to be at the right place at the right time, there was still a chance he might be able to shake off the enemy and save himself.

Ye Qing moved as soon as he made up his mind. First, he used every Magia and Strange Artifact he could think of to conceal his energies, create copies of himself, teleport through space, slip into the underground and more.

He tried everything he could think of and every method in his possession to shake off his enemy, but to his despair, it was all useless. No matter what he tried, he just could not break the strange connection between himself and the mysterious object that was used to track him.

“There has to be a way!”

Ye Qing gritted his teeth. If his Magia and Strange Artifacts didn’t work, then it was time to try out the dangerous terrains of Kunlun Ruins. He began diving into every dangerous or anomalous location he could find.

Unfortunately, nothing changed. No matter where he escaped to or hid himself, the strange connection simply refused to fade. Worse, he could sense the distance between him and the mysterious object shortening by the minute.

“Shit. Looks like it’s going to be do or die.”

Ye Qing looked down on the fishes swimming inside a stream and stomped his foot.

Bang!

The stream immediately snapped into several pieces, but strangely, dark red blood was seeping out of the areas where the stream was cracked.

The next moment, the bottom of the broken stream grew rows and rows of legs like a centipede and escaped in every direction. Literally, each broken segment of the stream was running away at high speed.

As they ran, water spilled down from their top from time to time. As soon as the water hit the ground, it grew countless tiny feet of its own, caught up with the escaping stream, and rejoined them.

It was quite the ludicrous yet interesting sight to say the least.

Ye Qing wasn’t surprised that a stream had grown legs and ran away. He did not continue his attack either.

The thousand-footed stream was, of course, not a real stream. It was a kind of Nine Nethers Demon called the Stream Insect.

A Disaster-class Stranger, the Stream Insect was shaped like a stream and had over a thousand legs. Extremely mobile, it often disguised itself as an ordinary stream so that it could infect any living creature who drank from its water.

If a living creature were to drink from its water, they would suffer a serious, extremely infectious disease. If not handled properly, the disease could easily turn into an all-consuming plague that, theoretically speaking, could infect and kill everything on earth.

Worse, the Stream Insect was extremely tenacious and hard to kill. It could live even if it was cut into a thousand pieces.

Long story short, the Stream Insect was an extremely tenacious Nine Nethers Demon.

If this was any other time, Ye Qing wouldn’t mind eradicating the pest and saving the world some pain. However, his own life was in grave danger right now. To say he did not have the time to deal with some random mob would be an understatement.

“If I’m going to fight a Sage to the death, then I must plan things carefully.”

Ruthlessness flickered in Ye Qing’s eyes. To fight someone to the death did not mean charging toward death in a straight line. That would just be suicide. No, a fight to the death must have some intelligence in it.

Most importantly, a fight to the death didn’t always necessarily end in death. If everything went well, who was to say he couldn’t escape and live to fight another day?

Even if the plan ultimately ended in failure, Ye Qing was planning to take off one or more teeth from his enemy’s mouth so to speak. He wouldn’t want them to remember him as a meek prey after all.

Buzz!

Ye Qing was still pondering how he should fight the Sage or Sages coming after him when suddenly, a strange phenomenon appeared in the distant sky.

Amidst the outburst of Buddhist radiance, Buddhas were praying, and golden lotuses were floating everywhere. Such was its power that the Nine Nethers Demonic Qi within thousands and thousands of kilometers were purified in an instant.

“What a pure light of Buddha!” Ye Qing looked astonished. “Is a Buddhist treasure emerging into the world or something?”

“Wait, that’s not right. Is it just me, or do those Buddhas look kinda perverted and cheap? And... why on earth do I feel some sort of familiarity toward them?”

“Hmm? Hmm?? HmmmMMmm???!!!”

Ye Qing’s eyes widened like saucers when he finally put two and two together. “Is that... Yi Pin?!”

Now he understood where the sense of familiarity and even affection came from. It was Yi Pin!
