Stolen By My Billionaire Brother-In-Law-Chapter 30: Cupid At Action
"No!" Ashley shrieked, barging into the room just as Ezekiel pulled the trigger. He had shown up suddenly, pointing his gun so quickly that even Rivana had no time to react.
Rivana waited for the pain to take over, to die just like she had in her past life. She braced herself for the inevitable, her mind flashing back to the moments when bullets had pierced through her back. But when she felt nothing even after a few seconds, she opened her eyes and blinked in confusion.
Ezekiel met her gaze and took away the gun. His laughter echoed in the room, sending chills down both Rivana and Ashley’s spines. Taking a step back, the middle-aged grinned and murmured, "Caught you!" 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Rivana clutched her chest, panting loudly as she realized he had pranked her. There were no bullets in the gun! Ashley quickly rushed to her madam’s side, helping her sit on the chair while Ezekiel sat on the CEO’s chair.
"Hmm, quite cool, I must say..." Ezekiel murmured, swirling in the chair and looking around the office. It was really commendable how a mere 21-year-old young lady had come this far, building a company and finally claiming it with, of course, his nephew’s help.
Rivana took the glass of water Ashley passed and gulped it down. Her trembling fingers clutched the glass tightly, her heart still thudding as Ezekiel’s eyes fell on her. Placing aside the glass, she looked at him, totally pissed by his little prank.
"Oh, I am sorry," Ezekiel murmured, his expression soft. Placing down the pistol on the table, he smiled. "I wanted our first meeting to be kind of unique."
Ashley took the chance to excuse herself and call her boss immediately. This old man was quite unpredictable, and only Azrael could handle him.
"Wait, I think we have met before too," Ezekiel remembered that day. When Rivana looked at him in confusion, he added with a smile, "You were Sussie’s favorite, right? She liked you a lot."
It was long ago during Susannah’s funeral, when a chubby 8-year-old Rivana had barged in and cried her heart out. He couldn’t forget that little girl because she had forced his stoic 15-year-old nephew to finally break down. Azrael had cried in her arms that day, and the memory was still painfully beautiful.
Rivana’s eyes moistened at the mention of Susannah. Rivana’s childhood had been great thanks to Susannah and also Azrael a bit. "She was my favorite too," she replied with a sad smile.

Almost an hour later, Azrael entered the room, followed by a worried Callum.
"Master!" Callum beamed but quickly hid his expression at Azrael’s glare. No, he had almost killed Rivana, and they should be angry about it.
"Oh, here he comes." Ezekiel laughed out loud, and that’s when both men realized the atmosphere was nothing ominous. In fact, Rivana seemed to be having a delightful conversation with the older man, the smile on her face making Callum frown.
Callum looked at Ashley, who shrugged in response. "It was a prank," she stated with a scowl. Callum had picked up the call and cut it midway before she could completely brief him, making them rush over here.
Azrael walked over to Rivana’s seat, his expression still tense. Examining that she was fine, he sighed in relief and then glared at his stupid uncle. "Why are you here?" he growled.
"See, his attitude never changes," Ezekiel replied instead to Rivana, who broke into a smile. He had been talking about his nephew, how the young 15-year-old boy hadn’t changed much except for his looks, and Azrael proved it again.
"Arrange for his return," Azrael ordered Callum, his frustration at its peak. Ezekiel’s grin faded at his words, replaced by a scowl.
"No, I am not going anywhere," Ezekiel refuted. Turning to Rivana, he smiled, "I still have so many stories to share with my daughter-in-law."
Azrael scoffed out loud at his words. "The one you tried to kill?" he mocked.
"I did not!" Ezekiel retorted, banging his hand on the table. Rivana flinched while Callum pinched the space between his temples. Here they went again, fighting like kindergarten kids.
When Azrael stared at Ezekiel, doubt visible in his eyes, Ezekiel let out an exasperated sigh. Glaring at his nephew, he said, "Callum told me you believed that stupid man’s words and asked him to dig behind my back." Taking the gun on the table, he grumbled, "Why would I hire someone and waste time when I can just barge in like this and put a bullet in her head?"
After Azrael left, Callum had called Ezekiel last night to confirm things. It had only enraged the latter, forcing him to fly over and kill that bastard for spitting absurd lies. But first, he decided to meet his daughter-in-law, unable to hold his excitement.
Rivana looked between the two in confusion. And when she looked at Callum, he stepped forward and told her, "We caught the man who blasted your car. He accused Master of having hired him."
Rivana nodded in response, her heart racing at the news. But Ezekiel was right. And even Ashley agreed to it.
Callum scratched his nose as Ezekiel looked at him, equally hurt that even he had doubted him. He quickly defended, "You were against this marriage, so we couldn’t help it."
"Good lord." Ezekiel ran a hand through his hair. "I was against the way he wanted to get married to her, you idiot!" he scolded, realizing these dimwits had misunderstood his point. He was against the idea of a contract marriage, faking things when Azrael could have just confessed and married with her permission.
When Azrael glared at him, still doubting if he was really telling the truth, Ezekiel shouted again, "And why the heck would I hate a girl he had secretly liked all these years?"
Rivana’s mouth opened in surprise, her heart racing at his words. She looked at Azrael standing beside her, his flustered expression saying it all.
Ezekiel frowned at everyone’s expression, confusion washing away his earlier anger. Feeling Callum’s disappointed stare, he grumbled again, "What? Don’t tell me this moron hadn’t confessed to her yet."
And boom, just like that, Ezekiel dropped another bomb, surprising everyone, even Viktor who had just entered the room.
