Stellar Transformation-Chapter 452 - 14 episodes 25 - s Indigenous residents
Hearing the snort, Qin Yu involuntarily turned his head in the direction of the sound, which was made by a cold and indifferent middle-aged man, whose icy gaze contained savage and venomous ferocity.
"What a ruthless man," Qin Yu said with a calm smile on his face.
The man in front of him was quite strong, an Emperor-level Seventeen-star, with physical Cultivation comparable to his own. Unfortunately, should a fight truly break out, Qin Yu was confident that he could defeat his opponent in a single round.
"Liu Xing, this is Vice Sect Master Liu Lan. Vice Sect Master Liu Lan has reached the Emperor-level Seventeen-star and is the second top expert of our Golden Punishment Sect," Elder Fran immediately said. "Next to Vice Sect Master Liu Lan is Vice Sect Master Bao Yu. You’ve also met the last of the three Vice Sect Masters, Vice Sect Master Kou Feng. This person here is the respected ’Guardian Elder’ of our Golden Punishment Sect."
In the hall, sitting at the main seat was Golden Punishment Lord Xing Yuan.
To the right of Lord Xing Yuan were three seats, occupied by Liu Lan and Bao Yu, the two Vice Sect Masters, with one seat still vacant, which Qin Yu guessed was for Vice Sect Master Kou Feng.
On the left-hand side of Lord Xing Yuan were four seats, the first of which was occupied by the Guardian Elder, while the other three were vacant. Qin Yu knew these were the places for Wen Feng, the Great Elder, and himself.
Qin Yu merely bowed slightly, and said indifferently, "Liu Xing has seen Vice Sect Master Liu Lan, Vice Sect Master Bao Yu, and the Guardian Elder."
Then Qin Yu no longer looked towards Liu Lan, but instead turned to Lord Xing Yuan and bowed slightly saying, "Liu Xing has seen Your Majesty." Through his demeanor and words, Qin Yu showcased his aloof personality.
Whereas most people upon seeing Lord Xing Yuan would bow deeply and say, ’Greetings to Your Majesty’, Qin Yu barely bowed and just said, ’has seen’, a significant difference in respect.
"Tributor Liu Xing is too arrogant," Vice Sect Master Liu Lan remarked with a cold laugh.
Qin Yu simply ignored Vice Sect Master Liu Lan.
Vice Sect Master Liu Lan’s face changed instantly. How could he not be angry when Liu Xing blatantly ignored his presence? Liu Lan had once aspired to be Lord of the Golden Punishment Sect, but he was slightly weaker than Xing Yuan, hence he was only a Vice Sect Master. Besides Xing Yuan, he had never respected anyone.
"Liu Lan, Liu Xing is perhaps a bit too proud, but don’t mind it too much," Lord Xing Yuan spoke up.
Liu Lan shot Qin Yu a cold glance but refrained from further comment.
Qin Yu didn’t care about that Liu Lan; he understood that Liu Lan had no impact on him.
"Liu Xing, I was pleased to hear you would come to Holy Mountain. I thought you would continue your arduous Cultivation and pay no mind to the position of Tributor," Xing Yuan said with a light smile.
Lord Xing Yuan had a solid and angular face that, even while seated, radiated a profound gravity that commanded respect.
"Your Majesty, Liu Xing has come to Holy Mountain to accept the position of Tributor, but the real important reason for his visit isn’t for the position of Tributor," Wen Feng said with a smile, glancing towards Qin Yu. Qin Yu took over the conversation, nodding, "Your Majesty, my greatest hope in coming to Holy Mountain is that you would grant me a Pass Token to enter Mishen Temple."
"Mishen Temple!"
Liu Lan, Bao Yu, Kou Feng, and a few others, including Lord Xing Yuan, were all surprised. Even the ’Guardian Elder’, who had been squinting restfully, opened his murky eyes to look at Qin Yu, then continued squinting.
"Although Mishen Temple does contain Divine Artifacts, with your power, Liu Xing, you shouldn’t need any Divine Artifacts, and the chances of obtaining an Upper Grade Divine Artifact are very slim," Vice Sect Master Bao Yu commented from the side.
Qin Yu remained silent.
These people had no idea what Qin Yu was relying on.
"Liu Xing, the three Great Sovereigns of the Dark Star Realm laid down rules long ago: the Mishen Temple remains closed except for a united entry opportunity every hundred thousand years," Golden Punishment Lord Xing Yuan explained with a furrowed brow.
Qin Yu’s brows furrowed.
"How long until the next opening of the Mishen Temple entrance?" Qin Yu inquired.
"The last opening was over sixty thousand years ago; the next won’t be for another thirty thousand years," Elder Fran replied.
Thirty thousand years?
Qin Yu couldn’t wait that long and immediately spoke, "Your Majesty, the entrance to the Mishen Temple is sealed with an Inheritance Treasure by the three past sovereigns. It can only be opened with a Pass Token refined collaboratively by the three sovereigns. I would implore Your Majesty to assist in opening it once. May I know what conditions are necessary for Your Majesty’s agreement?"
Qin Yu’s question revealed his determination to enter the Mishen Temple.
"It’s not that I am unwilling to help since you serve as a Tributor to our Golden Punishment Sect lineage, I could agree. However... the two sovereigns of the Black Flame Sect and Bai Xuan Sect might not consent. The rule was established initially to prevent non–Dark Star Realm beings from forcibly entering and to ensure that the divine artifacts within the realm remain under our three sects’ control," Golden Punishment Lord Xing Yuan explained.
Qin Yu’s heart slightly relaxed.
"Since Your Majesty agrees, why not invite the Black Flame Lord and Bai Xuanjun to discuss this," Qin Yu sincerely suggested. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Golden Punishment Lord Xing Yuan smiled faintly and nodded, "All right, I will invite them both, but the likelihood of them agreeing is quite low. The Black Flame Sect and Bai Xuan Sect have always been competitive with us."
"If Your Majesty could invite the other two sovereigns, Liu Xing would be deeply grateful. If by then we cannot come to an agreement, Liu Xing will have to relinquish the thought of entering," Qin Yu said with a smile.
"Since you are prepared for failure, that makes things easier," Golden Punishment Lord Xing Yuan took a better impression of Liu Xing before him.
Golden Punishment Lord Xing Yuan was known to be an easygoing person, and those who have dealt with him knew it. Even as a sovereign, Xing Yuan maintained a lack of pretentiousness.
"Very well, no time to waste. I now formally grant you the position of Tributor." Golden Punishment Lord stood up suddenly, prompting the others still seated to also rise, as Qin Yu also ceremonially bowed at that moment.
The same ritual etiquette of cultivators of the Dark Star Realm.
Left fist placed on the right chest, bow!
"Take these," Golden Punishment Lord Xing Yuan said, placing two items before Qin Yu.
"Thank you, Your Majesty," Qin Yu accepted the two items.
These two items, one was an edict, and the other a Tributor Token. The edict was fashioned from a special silk fabric, its durability comparable to a top-grade Immortal Artifact.
"Wen Feng, take Liu Xing to the ’Ancient Hall’ and ’Inheritance Hall’ to have a look," Golden Punishment Lord said with a light smile.
Wen Feng stood up, "Yes, Your Majesty."
******
The main peak of Holy Mountain housed the front hall, main hall, and a series of palaces, as well as housing for numerous cultivators. The seventeen peaks surrounding the main peak included seven for private residence, and eight were historical dwelling places of past Golden Punishment Lords. Only two were important palaces of the Golden Punishment Sect.
These two places were the ’Ancient Hall’ and ’Inheritance Hall’.
Ancient Hall, occupying an extremely vast area, nearly took up seventy percent of the mountaintop. Qin Yu and Wen Feng were outside the entrance of the Ancient Hall.
"Stop, Lord Wen Feng, please have that gentleman show his Token." A guard of the Ancient Hall commanded coldly.
Qin Yu involuntarily looked towards Wen Feng, who explained, "The Ancient Hall and the Inheritance Hall are both critical locations of the Golden Punishment Sect. Less than ten people in the entire sect are qualified to enter, and as the new Tributor, you certainly qualify."
Qin Yu immediately showed his Tributor Token.
Seeing the token, the guard immediately bowed and greeted, "Tributor Lord, please come in."
Qin Yu stepped over the threshold along with Wen Feng, entering the vast ’Ancient Hall,’ which was divided into a front hall and a main rear hall. The front hall had a vast array of hanging plaques.
Qin Yu glanced over at them.
"The third Golden Punishment Monarch, originally named Liu Tian, was born on Bailian Star, spent seventy-two years achieving One-star King Level, afterward left Bailian Star to wander among the stars..."
"The eighth Golden Punishment Monarch, originally named ’Hong,’ place of birth unknown, years of cultivation unknown, once slayed the Sixteen-star Emperor Level ’King of Slaughter’, Xue Sheng..."
...
Each plaque bore the simple biography of a Golden Punishment Monarch.
As for the number of plaques hanging in this front hall, Qin Yu’s glance revealed a dense mass of so many, certainly no less than ten thousand. The plaques for the early Golden Punishment Monarchs were up front, and as Qin Yu and Wen Feng walked further back, they saw even more plaques.
"Wen Feng, how many Golden Punishment Monarchs have there been in total?" Qin Yu asked Wen Feng.
Wen Feng smiled and spoke, "Can’t your Soul Power discern that?"
Qin Yu shook his head and smiled, "It’s not that I can’t count them, but rather because I can count them that I’m a bit disinclined to believe. There are over seventy thousand plaques here, which means... since ancient times, there have been more than seventy thousand Golden Punishment Monarchs?"
"That’s right, the current Lord Xing Yuan is indeed the seventy thousandth plus Golden Punishment Monarch," Wen Feng nodded.
Qin Yu then asked, "But what is the typical duration of each Golden Punishment Monarch’s reign?"
Wen Feng smiled and shook his head, "It’s hard to say, some Golden Punishment Monarchs, when at the level of Fifteen-star Emperor, might rule for several million years, or even tens of millions of years before they undergo Tribulation Crossing. Some... like the current Monarch, now at Eighteen-star Emperor Level, might undergo Tribulation Crossing within tens of thousands of years, or even sooner."
Qin Yu nodded.
The tenure of each Monarch varied greatly, some lasting tens of millions of years, others less than ten thousand years. But with more than seventy thousand Golden Punishment Monarchs, even if on average each reigned for one million years, that still amounts to over seven hundred billion years of history.
Moreover, Qin Yu estimated... the average tenure was probably even more than one million years.
"Wen Feng, how long exactly has the history of the Dark Star Realm been?" Qin Yu inquired.
Falling into deep thought, Wen Feng shook his head, "I’m afraid no one knows for sure. As far as I am aware, the history of the Dark Star Realm is divided into two phases. The first phase is the era without the Inheritance Treasures. At that time, the Dark Star Realm was incredibly chaotic, rife with strife. It wasn’t until later, with the emergence of three Inheritance Treasures, that the Dark Star Realm entered a phase of peaceful development."
Qin Yu was inwardly stunned.
My god, the time span represented by these seventy thousand plus Golden Punishment Monarchs only accounts for the era after the appearance of the three Inheritance Treasures. As for the earlier chaotic period, who knows how long that lasted?
The history of the Dark Star Realm is indeed extensive.
Wen Feng sighed, "The people of our Dark Star Realm are belligerent; without sufficient powerful strength, who would submit to another? It was only after the appearance of three Inheritance Treasures that all people of the Dark Star Realm submitted to those possessing the Inheritance Treasures."
Qin Yu looked towards the back; beyond the front hall was the main rear hall, which was significantly larger and contained various statues.
"There are the statues of each generation’s Monarch; do you wish to pay them a visit?" Wen Feng asked with a smile.
"Forget it, they’re not real people; what’s there to admire?" Qin Yu spoke and then turned around, "Wen Feng, let’s go to the Inheritance Hall. By the way, what is the Inheritance Hall exactly?"
As Wen Feng and Qin Yu walked, they talked.
"The Inheritance Hall is where each Golden Punishment Monarch integrates with the ’Inheritance Treasure.’ For instance, after the last Golden Punishment Monarch ascended to the Divine World, the Inheritance Treasure remained in the Inheritance Hall until Lord Xing Yuan appeared and merged with that ’Inheritance Treasure.’ The manager of the Inheritance Hall is the ’Guardian Elder,’" Wen Feng elaborated.
They had already reached the outside of the Inheritance Hall by the time Wen Feng finished speaking.
The Inheritance Hall was very ancient, entirely black, and exuded an aura of antiquity. Just standing outside the hall was enough to make one feel a sense of oppression.
"Liu Xing, Wen Feng, come in." A voice called from inside the hall.
Qin Yu looked and saw a thin, dark old man sitting cross-legged in a corner of the hall; it was the Guardian Elder, who was now rising and walking towards them.
"What are these carvings on the wall?" Qin Yu curiously inspected the walls of the Inheritance Hall.
The walls bore numerous carved images, and Qin Yu saw that the whole great hall had more than ten thousand such carvings.
"These walls depict scenes of warfare among our people of the Dark Star Realm before we had the Inheritance Treasures," the Guardian Elder’s voice sounded.
Qin Yu suddenly fixated on one of the images.
That image was of an interstellar map of the entire realm of Immortals, Demons, and Beasts, but this map was filled with marks, as though the whole realm had been occupied by people from the Dark Star Realm.
"What’s going on here? Where are the people from the Immortal, Demon, and Beast Realms?" Qin Yu curiously inquired.
The Guardian Elder sighed deeply, "Over countless years, even the vast majority of our own descendants of the Dark Star Realm have forgotten... this realm of Immortals, Demons, and Beasts was originally called the Dark Star Realm."
Qin Yu was taken aback by this revelation.
What? The entire realm of Immortals, Demons, and Beasts was originally called ’Dark Star Realm’?
The Guardian Elder, squinting his eyes, slowly added, "The people of our Dark Star Realm are the original inhabitants of this entire cosmic space. As for those Immortals, people of the Demon World, and those from the Beast Realm, they are merely ascenders from the Lower Realm... it’s just that there have been too many of them ascending, and their reproductive capacity is far superior to ours from the Dark Star Realm."
