Chapter 106: Episode 5 Chapter 9 Countdown to Carnage

Qin Yu, currently in the Star Nebula Middle Stage, was no match for Sang Mo, an early-stage Nascent Soul whose true form was a member of the incredibly strong Octopus clan. Once Qin Yu encountered Sang Mo, he would definitely be at a disadvantage. Therefore, Qin Yu’s reaction was—

"Westward!"

With no regard for anything else, Qin Yu immediately changed direction and sped straight westward at a stunning speed. Relying on his Spiritual Sense which extended a bit farther than Sang Mo’s, that distance allowed Qin Yu to detect Sang Mo without being detected himself.

Meanwhile, Sang Mo continued rushing southward.

In just a moment, the distance between them was over a hundred miles.

"As expected," a cold light flashed in Qin Yu’s eyes as his Spiritual Sense clearly detected more than a dozen Octopus clansmen lying in wait to the west. Qin Yu gritted his teeth and, with the fastest speed, turned into a streak of light as he recklessly charged westward.

The western region was very vast, yet the fifteen or so Octopus clansmen had covered a large area with their Spiritual Sense.

"Whoosh!"

A streak of light dashed through the area monitored by one of the Octopus clansmen. That Sang Clan member immediately let out a strange, low roar, "The murderer, it’s the murderer!" The peculiar language of the Sang Clan alarmed the other clansmen nearby.

The leader of this group quickly took out a Communication Order.

"Clan Leader, the murderer has fled westward."

...

The giant Octopus reached hundreds of miles to the south in an instant, but its expression changed immediately upon sensing the message from the Communication Order, unleashing an extremely angry low roar. It swiftly changed shape and set off westward again.

Sang Mo’s natural speed was exceedingly fast, yet Qin Yu’s direction shifted once more at this moment.

"Hmph, chase me? Keep running," Qin Yu murmured, shifting direction yet again. He no longer flew westward but darted southward at high speed. This time, no one reported Qin Yu’s whereabouts to Sang Mo. Though Sang Mo was fast, he was simply not going in the right direction, and the distance between them only grew larger.

He sped southward for a thousand miles!

Then he changed direction once more and flew a thousand miles to the east!

However, as he flew southeastward...

After half a day of pursuit without any trace of Qin Yu, Sang Mo had to admit his failure in tracking and could only return to his lair in anger and helplessness.

Within the Sang Clan palace,

A Green-eyed Fish Clan man smiled and said, "Please rest assured, Elder Sang Mo. This time, you have sought help from thirty of our clansmen. With our method of tracking people, there’s absolutely no way the murderer can escape our pursuit." He appeared very confident.

Sang Mo, with a sweep of his red robe, sat on the main seat in the hall, his anger unabated.

He had gone to great lengths to capture his enemy, only to have them slip away, leaving Sang Mo furious.

Just then, three Green-eyed Fish Clan men entered the hall from within the palace. Their faces were also covered with fish scales. Seeing Sang Mo, they bowed respectfully, and one of them said, "Elder Sang Mo, our children have now found traces of the murderer."

"Speak," commanded Sang Mo with full vigour, his entire persona brimming with momentum.

The man said, "Senior pursued the murderer, who first flew westward, then turned southward. Although parts of the chase are unclear, he generally flew towards the southeast later on and is now estimated to be seven thousand miles to the southeast of the location where Senior began the pursuit."

Each member of the Green-eyed Fish Clan controlled at least a thousand fish, each one serving as their eyes. Furthermore, by judging their flying speed and whether they possess Demon Qi, it was easy to identify Qin Yu.

Without Demon Qi, and with such swiftness, there were likely no other Cultivators within this hundred thousand mile region besides Qin Yu.

"Very well."

Sang Mo suddenly stood up, then coldly huffed at a Sang Clan person inside the hall, "Sang Lanpu, you’re useless at handling tasks. Give the Communication Order to the people of the Green-eyed Fish Clan." Sang Mo was clearly unhappy with how his own clan member handled affairs.

The Sang Clan person named Sang Lanpu immediately took out the Communication Order and handed it over to a man from the Green-eyed Fish Clan.

Sang Mo stared at the Green-eyed Fish Clan man and said icily, "This time, no matter what, I will not allow that bastard to escape again. The people of the Green-eyed Fish Clan are here in the palace. Let the thirty brothers work together, and report any news to me via the Communication Order."

Last time, Sang Mo suffered from not having other Green-eyed Fish Clan People relay messages; this time, he had learned his lesson.

He directly gave the Communication Order to one of them, so that all thirty men staying inside the palace could relay any news to him.

"Senior Sang Mo, please rest assured, the fish controlled by our thirty clan members cover nearly every hundred miles. As soon as the murderer moves and is detected by our fish, he won’t escape our grasp," the Green-eyed Fish Clan man confidently said.

Sang Mo nodded in satisfaction.

"Senior, this is the current location of the murderer."

Handing over a Jade Scroll directly to Sang Mo, Sang Mo’s Spiritual Sense swept over it and instantly understood the location. A fierce smile appeared on Sang Mo’s face, "This time, no matter what, you won’t escape, you Cultivator scum."

With a sweep of his red robe, Sang Mo directly flew out of the hall.

Qin Yu lay languidly next to a reef at the bottom of the sea, his clothes had the effect of repelling water. At this moment, Qin Yu’s brow was deeply furrowed, obviously deep in thought.

"How exactly did Sang Mo find out where I was hiding?"

Even now, Qin Yu could not understand; he had been extremely cautious. According to what he thought, he shouldn’t have left any traces. After pondering for a moment, Qin Yu pressed his temples. Since leaving the Hidden Dragon Continent and arriving in this world of Undersea Demon Beasts, Qin Yu hadn’t had a moment of peaceful rest.

Too tiring.

"Father must be quite happy now," an involuntary serene smile surfaced on Qin Yu’s face.

His father was enjoying a peaceful life on the Hidden Dragon Continent, while Qin Yu was living amidst life-and-death escapes and enemies that could appear at any moment.

"The fish in the sea are really beautiful." With a wave of his hand, hundreds of fish of various colors cheerfully swam away. In the vast ocean, schools of fish were most plentiful, sometimes numbering in the thousands or even tens of thousands, swimming together.

Flying among these fish was also a kind of enjoyment.

However, Qin Yu was completely unaware that among these hundreds of fish, there was one that was slightly different. Yet, the secret skill unique to the Green-eyed Fish Clan was not something that Qin Yu could detect.

After resting for a while, Qin Yu once again set off.

There were many Demon Cultivators in the sea domain, but within this hundred thousand mile area, most were at the Golden Core Stage of Cultivation, with a rare few at the Early-stage Nascent Soul. Qin Yu’s Spiritual Sense had detected them all long before they could discover him.

Qin Yu continuously evaded pursuit, and though it was perilous, he was never in great danger.

"Good, it’s time to cultivate the ’Beiming’ technique once again." Qin Yu spotted a huge coral mountain. With its many layers, Qin Yu slipped through a crevice and delved inside, whereupon he vibrated his Star Power, directly forming a cave.

Sitting inside the cave, Qin Yu took a moment to collect himself.

In terms of attacking, he should be quite formidable. Not only was he adept at close-quarters combat, but he could also control the Flame Sword for long-range attacks. Whether close or at a distance, he could launch attacks, and he could even execute some secret skills from ’Star Transformation.’

As for preserving his life and fleeing, his body was comparable to a Spiritual Artifact, with almost no resistance while flying. Once Human and Artifact Fusion was initiated, the speed was indeed shockingly fast.

Beyond that, he also knew some rather peculiar and special techniques—the Demon Secret Skill!

"Whether it’s about saving my life, or experiencing and blending into the world of Demon Cultivators, I must learn ’Beiming’," Qin Yu immediately started cultivating in the lotus position, once more directing a thread of Star Power to his mind.

The power of the soul was elusive and intangible, as if it was a void existence.

Meanwhile, Star Power was a tangible force. The Star Power passed through the power of the soul, but Qin Yu simply could not comprehend how the Star Power could be fused with Soul Power. The Demon Path book only had two words—"try."

With continuous attempts, even the creator had tried many times before inexplicably succeeding. Even the creator did not know what caused the success.

Qin Yu wasn’t in the least bit anxious with each attempt.

He was prepared. If all else failed, he could simply retreat for a month and give it his best shot. He estimated that after a month, if Sang Mo still couldn’t find him, the pursuit would likely slow down. However, just as Qin Yu had started cultivating for half a day...

"Senior Sang Mo, according to my children’s information, he should be within a hundred to two hundred li to the south of you. As for the exact location, I do not know," a male from the Green-eyed Fish Clan communicated.

Qin Yu had picked a location for his retreat where no fish controlled by the Green-eyed Fish Clan were present. However, within a hundred li of this location, some fish had spotted Qin Yu flying to this area and then losing his trace, naturally deducing Qin Yu was here.

"Very good, very good indeed."

Sang Mo’s blood-red tongue stretched out, his face bearing a sinister smile. Not turning into an octopus, he quietly approached Qin Yu’s area in human form while stretching his Spiritual Sense to the utmost, searching meticulously.

Qin Yu, cultivating peacefully, was methodically attempting time and again, scrutinizing his mistakes after each failure, persisting with his trials.

"Sang Mo!"

Qin Yu’s eyes suddenly snapped open, and his cultivation almost instantly ceased. Even while cultivating, his Spiritual Sense was always on guard, and he instantly detected the approaching Sang Mo. And within an instant, the swiftly traversing Sang Mo had already closed the distance to Qin Yu’s Spiritual Sense.

"Whoosh!"

Qin Yu had no time for anything else and burst out of the coral, and immediately steered the Flame Sword, initiating Human and Artifact Fusion, flying eastwards at top speed. Sang Mo’s Spiritual Sense had just detected Qin Yu’s presence, and then Qin Yu had vanished again.

"You won’t get away this time," Sang Mo’s face took on a cold smile as his body instantly transformed into a massive red octopus.

At the same time, Sang Mo issued an order through the Communication Order to the thirty members of the Green-eyed Fish Clan at the Sang Clan palace: "Members of the Green-eyed Fish Clan, pay close attention and convey to me the whereabouts of that Cultivator at all times."

As his Spiritual Sense transmitted his command, Sang Mo pursued Qin Yu.

However, even though Sang Mo was a fraction faster than Qin Yu, he soon realized he could no longer sense Qin Yu’s presence with his Spiritual Sense. Sang Mo immediately concluded that the detestable Cultivator had changed direction again.

Which direction had Qin Yu fled? Sang Mo could not determine.

"Sang Mo, the killer is located 150 li south of you and is currently flying rapidly in that direction."

The information from the Green-eyed Fish Clan man greatly pleased Sang Mo, who immediately rushed at top speed toward Qin Yu’s location. Although they were 150 li apart and flying in exactly the same direction, it took a while for Sang Mo to gradually close the distance to Qin Yu.

Qin Yu, who had his Spiritual Sense activated at all times, suddenly detected Sang Mo tens of li behind him.

"How does Sang Mo know the direction I’m escaping to?" Qin Yu felt that something was amiss and immediately changed direction, once again widening the gap between them.

...

After a while, Qin Yu noticed Sang Mo’s traces appearing not far behind him. Carrying anger and confusion, Qin Yu changed direction again and quickly increased the distance from Sang Mo.

However, it wasn’t long before Sang Mo caught up again!

"How does this bastard always know the direction I’ve switched to?" A cold light flickered in Qin Yu’s eyes, clearly infuriated.

Meanwhile, the pursuing Sang Mo was also driven to anger, "Cultivator, this damnable cultivator! How does he always know beforehand when I’m tracking him, always changing direction ahead of me? Could his Spiritual Sense range be larger than mine?" Sang Mo couldn’t accept this outcome.

The one being chased and the one in pursuit were both seething with rage.

"East!"

Qin Yu changed direction once more, but this time he wasn’t lucky because there happened to be a fish in the area he changed direction to, and furthermore, this fish was controlled by the Green-eyed Fish Clan.

"Sang Mo, east, he’s escaped towards the east!"

This time, Sang Mo practically took no detours, following directly eastward, closing the gap with Qin Yu in no time. Qin Yu, who had thought he’d shaken Sang Mo off again, was so scared that he broke out in a cold sweat, and his rage simmered even more.

"Even a clay figurine has a point at which it will crumble; Sang Mo, don’t push me to the edge."

Murderous intent began to stir in Qin Yu’s heart.

******

The dark undersea cavern now seemed like a black hole, constantly swallowing all sorts of nature’s spiritual energy. Some undersea Demon Beasts swimming by were directly sucked into the cavern, never to escape again.

Suddenly, the cavern’s engulfing force ceased.

Inside the cavern.

Two beams of green light shot out from within the cavern; they were the eyes of a black hawk. Little Black, having undergone the Forbidden Technique of Inheritance Memory, had experienced earth-shaking changes. Currently, Little Black appeared much thinner and lacked even a hint of aura.

"Big Brother, I’m here."

A sudden surge of aura burst forth from Little Black, like a cold, sharp blade. Its figure moved, resembling a thin sliver of ice, and it slipped through the current and vanished in an instant, its speed much faster than the past when it performed ’Fleeting Lightning Nine Flashes’.
