Stars In His Eyes-Chapter 1790: Sincerely Treating Each Other 3
A man who doesn’t dare to face his most unbearable past, no matter how successful he is now, the Chen Family cannot accept such a son-in-law.
However, as far as it looks until now, Chen’s mother is still quite satisfied with He Da; at least, she hasn’t seen a gloomy expression on He Da’s face.
Yet, thinking about He Da’s disability, Chen’s mother sighed with regret, thinking that if she and her husband hadn’t pushed their daughter so hard back then, perhaps their daughter would not have gone to the capital to find Chen Shan behind their backs, and if their daughter hadn’t gone to the capital, then Chen Ning wouldn’t have met He Da.
"Let’s go." Chen’s father spoke, "He Da, right? We’ve already arranged a place for you and your aunt in a hotel not far from our home. Although you and Chen Ning are seeing each other, since things haven’t officially been settled yet, it’s better if you don’t stay at our house. I hope you don’t mind."
"Thank you, uncle." He Da nodded, not bothered by it. He hadn’t considered staying at Chen Ning’s home anyway. After all, the elders are right; they are only dating for now but haven’t officially settled down, so naturally, it’s impossible to stay at the woman’s house.
Chen’s father came driving himself. Once in the car, Chen’s mother sat in the front passenger seat, while He Da and Chen Ning sat in the back seat. The two elders in the front kept silent, and as it was He Da’s first time facing such a situation, he wasn’t much of a talker already, which made him even more silent.
He tried to say something to break the slightly awkward silence, but unfortunately, his family’s inherited trait of being tongue-tied left him unsure of what to say.
It was Chen Ning, with her lively personality, who couldn’t settle down even after getting in the car.
But thankfully, her vivacious nature meant that although the three people in the car were quiet, her voice would occasionally break the silence.
"He Da! Look! Have you been to that park? When I was in elementary school, the school organized a trip here! I once found money here! It was a coin, and I used it to buy candy!" Chen Ning excitedly pulled He Da and started sharing all her bits of memories about the city, places she’s visited, shops she likes, and places she dreams of going but hasn’t yet.
He Da couldn’t help but smile as he listened to the second half of Chen Ning’s words, "Was the candy sweet?"
"It was sweet, but not very tasty, not as good as the candy at home. After buying it, I regretted it. Should’ve bought an ice pop instead!" Chen Ning’s expression of regret directly made the three people in the car burst into laughter.
"You’ve really grown!" Chen’s father jokingly scolded. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Chen Ning stuck out her tongue, not retorting, still watching out the car window, suddenly murmured, and then secretly tugged on He Da’s sleeve, pointing outside the window with a somewhat mischievous smile.
He Da looked outside, puzzled, and saw a young couple at the street corner embracing each other among many onlookers. Without seeing much detail, the car drove past, leaving the kissing couple behind.
He Da, puzzled, looked at Chen Ning, using his expression to question whether the couple was what excited her.
Chen Ning gently nodded and then held his hand, lightly tapping his palm with her finger. Her nails had been freshly trimmed, leaving only the soft pads of her fingers to rub against his broad palm.
The tingling sensation felt like a chubby cat paw scratching, prompting He Da to grab hold of her restless hand in his palm and then looked up at her, only to catch her smug gaze of success.
She merely wanted him to hold her hand.
