Star Odyssey-Chapter 3479: Masterful Restraint
Chapter 3479: Masterful Restraint
The Revelation Sect did not have a sect master. Instead, there were three Revelation Elders who ruled over the Revelation Sect, and the three of them jointly decided everything for the Revelation Domain.
It was an unusual situation, but not completely unheard of.
All three elders were sequence powerhouses who had cultivated the same sequence technique: Masterful Restraint.
Lu Yin was curious about this particular sequence technique.
"Masterful Restraint is ranked twenty-fifth among the eighty-eight sequence techniques. It’s certainly not a low ranking, but very few people cultivate it because it requires them to have a certain belief: that the universe is a living creature."
Lu Yin was surprised. "‘The universe is a living creature?’"
Old Tao nodded. "That’s right. This premise is required in order to start cultivating the Law of Masterful Restraint. Only by believing that the universe is a living creature with unwavering faith can one cultivate the sequence technique. This is because all living creatures have acupuncture points. Thus, if the universe is a living creature, then it must also have acupuncture points. This means that the technique’s sequence particles can be used to press the universe’s acupuncture points. Once these points are pressed, the universe will lock up, just like a creature whose acupuncture points have been pressed.
"For those with a strong enough faith, their sequence particles can press upon the universe’s acupuncture points. These points are actually the laws of the universe. Because the laws come from the universe itself, they are the equivalent of our circulatory system. Once these laws are suppressed, which is when the universe’s acupuncture points are pressed, an entire region of the universe will be locked down and immobilized.
"In theory, after mastering Masterful Restraint,[1] time, space, and everything that flows through a universe can be affected and rendered immobile."
Lu Yin was amazed. "Is there really such a unique sequence technique? How interesting. Who created this?"
Old Tao shook his head. "I don't know. Of the eighty-eight sequence techniques, some have known origins, while others do not. No one has traced their history.
"The Revelation Sect specializes in cultivating Masterful Restraint. All of their disciples firmly believe that the universe is a living creature, and all three Revelation Elders have cultivated the Law of Masterful Restraint. With those two things put together, no one has had any desire to take over the Revelation Domain."
As the old man spoke, the sedan continued to move toward the Revelation Domain.
Many of the observers were growing increasingly confused. Lu Yin and his entourage had changed direction yet again. Now, they were moving farther away from the Ascendant Hall and closer to the boundary. Was the Third Boss trying to sneak away?
Various theories cropped up.
...
At this moment, one ancient battleship after another flew through the Aevum Inch between Beacon City and the Spirit Nidus.
They were returning from the Consciousness Megaverse. They had enjoyed a brief rest in Beacon City and were currently continuing on back to the Spirit Nidus.
All of the battleships were filled with cultivators returning after fighting in the Consciousness Megaverse.
There were both ancient powerhouses as well as young prodigies.
"We’re lucky that Lord High Seraph stopped the expedition to the Tianyuan Megaverse decades ago. If he hadn’t, we wouldn't have had the chance to join," a young man commented. He had a jade-like complexion and even seemed to glow, due to his extreme arrogance.
Beside him, a stunning woman smiled. "Yes, that’s quite lucky for us. After this Day of Offering, we will head out for the Tianyuan Megaverse. We will show those little juniors from the Spirit Nidus that we are not old yet."
"Hahahaha, competing with them will be like playing with children."
"I wonder how many elites have risen up from the younger generations in these last few years. I really am looking forward to finding out."
"Brother, be gentle. Don't scare our juniors."
"That won't happen. I have it under control."
...
"We're finally headed back. On the Day of the Offering, even the Seven Seraphs must be present. Do you think that Yi Xia will stay in Beacon City?"
"Seraph Yi has paved the way for him, but that doesn’t mean that we’ll give up. Yi Xia might not be able to defeat us one-on-one."
"I have a strange feeling that something was off with Yi Xia when we met him in Beacon City, but I can't quite pin down what."
"I felt the same."
...
"Sister, should we send this batch of surrendered conscients to the Consciousness Domain?"
"Hmph, of course not! Even if the Consciousness Domain wants to control all the surrendered conscients, it’s simply impossible."
"Defeating the Consciousness Megaverse won’t be easy. We don't even know which of the Thirteen Luminaries are dead or still alive. Still, I’m really looking forward to this excursion to the Tianyuan Megaverse."
"Don't underestimate the Tianyuan Megaverse. I saw some records left behind by our ancestors in the family archives. The reason why we invaded the Consciousness Megaverse and sent Seraph Yuan Qi to the Tianyuan Megaverse wasn’t because we weren’t concerned about the Tianyuan Megaverse, but rather the opposite. The Tianyuan Megaverse is actually even more important, and it’s because of something that our ancestor mentioned: future potential."
"Future potential?"
"That's right. Among the three megaverses, the Tianyuan Megaverse has the greatest future potential, which is why our Spirit Nidus fears it the most. Once the Tianyuan Megaverse rises, it will be a problem. That's why Seraph Yuan Qi was sent there, to weaken the Tianyuan Megaverse’s future potential and suppress them while we either defeat the Consciousness Megaverse or gain enough strength to be able to fight wars on two fronts at once."
"Lord High Seraph stopped the vanguard from leaving for the Tianyuan Megaverse. What does that mean?"
"There’s either no need for an expedition, or the expedition would have accomplished nothing."
"Ah, all of this is giving me a headache. Forget it. By the way, Sis, have you still not decided on your future? Your body is different from others."
"Hmph, who in the megaverse could marry me? Even if my body is burned out, what of it? Whoever can have me will either be an unrivaled conqueror or someone whose aura overwhelms all..."

The Revelation Domain was a unique place. In the eyes of outsiders, there was something wrong with the minds of everyone living in the Revelation Domain, even the ordinary humans.
The Revelation Sect ruled over the Revelation Domain, strong in their faith that the universe was a living organism. All who entered the Revelation Domain and spoke to the domain’s cultivators had to be mindful of this detail. If their beliefs were questioned, a person would find themselves surrounded by many people from the Revelation Domain and forced into a debate.
These were simply debates. There was no fighting and no cursing, simply debating.
Over time, countless cultivators had been surrounded in the Revelation Domain and forced to endure nightmarish debate marathons.
It was impossible for any outsider to ever win a debate because they were facing the entire population of the Revelation Domain. This had also led to the appearance of a unique profession in the Revelation Domain: Debaters.
Debaters did not need to be powerful cultivators; they merely needed to be eloquent. The more eloquent a Debater was, the more formidable they became. Debaters enjoyed a very high status within the domain.
They specialized in verbal duels.
Because of their high status, Debaters did not lack resources. Consequently, nearly every debater was also a powerful cultivator. This gave outsiders the illusion that all powerful cultivators in the Revelation Domain were also eloquent.
Debaters claimed to be eloquent, but outsiders said that they were just idlers with nothing better to do.
This was one unique feature of the domain.
There was another special feature of the Revelation Domain, which was the Worryless Valley.
In the Worryless Valley, people could truly forget their worries and troubles. Those who lived there were all very happy. When outsiders visited, they could find no reason or means to stir up trouble. The natives were all extremely friendly to outsiders, to the point where if they were struck, they would return the blow with a smile, embarrassing the offender.
Upon entering the Revelation Domain and directly experiencing the atmosphere, it was possible for people to be surrounded and forced to debate. Or, they might encounter someone from the Worryless Valley, who would endure any insult without contest.
As a result, outsiders saw the Revelation Domain as a place where everyone had something wrong with them. Everyone seemed slightly mad.
Fortunately, the Revelation Domain had no special resources to attract outsiders, so it was not frequently visited.
One day, the sedan arrived at the entrance to the Revelation Domain and passed through.
Lu Yin’s observers grew puzzled, and they did not understand what the Third Boss was doing in the Revelation Domain.
While traveling, Old Tao had already told Lu Yin about the Revelation Domain. They did not rush straight for the Worryless Valley, as Lu Yin instead wanted to first visit the Revelation Sect.
"Why do you wish to visit the Revelation Sect, Third Boss?" Old Tao asked curiously.
Lu Yin grinned. "To have a debate."
Old Tao was confused. "A debate?"
As the sedan passed through the Revelation Domain, it slowed down considerably.
Lu Yin’s observers also entered the Revelation Domain, and as they did so, they warned each other.
"Be careful of what you say. There’s something wrong with the heads of the people in the Revelation Domain. Just keep an eye on the Third Boss and don't cause any trouble."
"I don’t need your reminder. Who doesn't know about the Revelation Domain?"
"Warn the younger ones."
"I’m sorry, Senior, but I don't know about this Revelation Domain."
"Then leave and don't enter it."
"Well, but my master told me to follow the Third Boss."
"We just told you to get lost."
"Well, I don't know the situation, so could you explain it to me?" Zhan Qianhou cautiously asked.
Several of the cultivators who had been watching Lu Yin shot vicious glares at the young man, but after seeing that Zhan Qianhou was the one asking, they grew cautious. No one dared to scold the young man, seeing as how he was from the Gate of Laws.
With no other choice, the people could only warn Zhan Qianhou. "The people in the Revelation Domain firmly believe that the universe is a living organism. Just don't argue with them about it."
Zhan Qianhou blinked. "The universe is a living organism? That’s impossible."
The people nearby quickly shushed him. "Keep your voice down! It doesn’t matter if it’s possible or not. Just don't argue with them."
"This can't be allowed. How have these people been deceived? The universe is an environment, not a living creature! As cultivators, not only must we be wise ourselves, but we are also obligated to teach others, especially the ordinary people. They aren’t even able to walk the path of cultivation, which is pitiful enough, so how can they be deceived on top of that?" Zhan Qianhou protested somberly. The man grew extremely serious as he spoke.
The nearby people were left speechless. "Why do you care about that? What does this have to do with you?"
Zhan Qianhou clenched a fist. "I can't stand such deceptions!"
"Fine, then go talk to them yourself. Just stay away from us."
"Do you believe that the universe is alive?"
"What does that have to do with me? I was just telling you."
"I'm just asking if you believe it."
"Of course not."
"Good! That's what I thought."
"You're insane," the person retorted angrily. He turned around, only to find that a stranger had suddenly appeared there and was staring at him. "Sir, you don't believe that the universe is alive?"
"Who are you?"
"I am a Debater of the Revelation Domain. Please enlighten me." The moment the words were uttered, other cultivators started to appear all around the group. Lu Yin’s observers were surrounded.
"May I ask, do you believe the universe is alive?"
"May I ask, do you believe the universe is alive?"
"May I ask..."
Everyone was taken aback. As quick and as simple as that, they had been surrounded. It was all because of the person from the Gate of Laws.
Zhan Qianhou then stepped forward. "I don't believe it! None of us do!"
The Debater smiled. "Then let's have a debate."
"Let’s go!" Zhan Qianhou shouted.
Everyone was stunned. This man was a bit too confrontational.
"He doesn't believe, but we believe," someone else quickly spoke up.
Others hurriedly agreed, "We believe! We believe! Let us go."
It was not that they were incapable of escaping from the encirclement, but that they were still in the Revelation Domain, and the Revelation Sect was also nearby. Even if they fought their way free, they might not emerge unscathed.
The Debater looked at the people. "Tell me, why do you believe?"
No one could find anything to say. The Debater was just as confrontational as Zhan Qianhou.
They had gotten caught in quite a bind. They were now surrounded by an entire group of people with a few screws loose.
Further on ahead, Lu Yin turned around to look back, wondering what was happening. He had not even started an argument yet, but his shadows were already at it. The atmosphere behind him had gotten quite intense.
Cai Keqing showed a rare smile at that moment.
1. "点到为止" (diǎn dào wéi zhǐ) is a common Chinese idiom that translates roughly to "stop at the right point" or "leave it at that." It is used to describe a way of handling a situation or conversation where one provides just enough information or takes just enough action to make the point, but without overdoing it or going too far. In Chinese culture, this phrase often carries the connotation of subtlety, restraint, and knowing when to stop. It reflects the value of moderation and the importance of not over-explaining, over-acting, or over-indulging. ☜
