Chapter 1737: Quiet (III)

After issuing some reminders to the Silver Moon powerhouses, Li Hao tilted his head at Void. His friend was making preparations off to the side. “I don’t think this will be too hard. Will you be able to revitalize Skyward?”

Bringing the world back was necessary after they silenced it. Otherwise, the entire world would be ruined. Not only would that deprive wandering cultivators a place to stay, but any Skyward powerhouse they might meet in the future would absolutely kill them!

“I can give it a try!” Void shook his head. “It’s hard to say. I’ll be able to take both daos to their current limits if I erupt with emptiness and revitalization at the same time. If I do so with light and dark, the dao foundation of the light envoy might appear in response to Demon Summit. That’s my most logical deduction, anyhow, since they were both eighth ranks.

“However, I also want to walk life and death and combine six daos of extremes...” Void frowned slightly, unwilling to walk a path of only integrating four daos. “There doesn’t seem to be any notable figures of life and death recorded in Skyward’s history.”

It wasn’t out of the question that he ascended to seventh rank after this attempt, but that wouldn’t reach his expectations!

Life and death...

Li Hao paused when he heard his friend’s aspirations and took a while to reply. “You don’t want to fully pull Skyward into death, do you? Be careful of getting yourself into huge trouble if you do that!”

Some of Skyward’s exalted emperors were still alive, such as the fellow daoist of Coiling Dragon Well, Daoist Flamefire, and the dark envoy... They were all still alive because it would be nigh impossible to borrow strength from the past if they were dead.

It was one thing to silence and revitalize a world, but to outright destroy it... Not to mention, Void may not be able to do so. No matter if he succeeded or not, he was certain to elicit enormous repercussions.

“I don’t mind that, I mean...” Void shook his head and paused. “I mean that I’d like to walk the cycle of life and death for once...”

Li Hao’s brows drew together in a ferocious frown!

“I’ve learned life and death, but have yet to walk its cycle!” Void said seriously. “That means I do not understand it deeply enough. I must die within its extremes, be born from death, and truly walk that cycle for myself!

“Based on what you say, I might lose my memories or see a dramatic drop in my lifespan. Other drawbacks may appear as well...” Void hesitated. “My concerns now are that if I wish to walk the cycle, my world of emptiness is not yet complete enough. In contrast to your river, I am unable to rely upon my dao world. If I am unable to do so, I might fully die when my great dao disperses!”

He needed a medium with which to bear his life force. Li Hao utilized the river of dao and had propped it up on the twin dao universes for his first go around. Meanwhile, Void was a peak sixth rank. A twin dao universe could not support his cycle of life and death.

If his world of emptiness was not yet sufficiently perfected and could not complete a full circulation, he might end up failing.

He would truly be dead then!

“I can use my river to buttress one side,” Li Hao smiled. “But it’s better if another person is also involved. Let me get the Sword Sovereign. His dao domain is more or less complete!

“You’re extremely young and have unlimited lifespan,” continued the young man. “It’ll be very hard for you to age naturally. I did so because I used too much power of time—you won’t be able to decline from your usage of life. In that case, it’ll be too contrived for you to walk the cycle of life and death and also a bit of a waste!”

Void looked at his friend, a headache setting in. That was true! It was more than a bit of waste! Each death not only affected one’s lifespan, but also consumed a large sum of resources.

“How about this, I won’t convince you otherwise if you wish to walk life and death,” Li Hao said after some thought. “I won’t stop you either. There’s not much of an issue if you do so once! But don’t waste your energy. How about this—I have minor worlds of life and death, emptiness and revitalization, as well as light and dark. You can infuse my worlds with energy!”

The energy of a sixth rank was significant at the end of the day. You can help me perfect my minor worlds!

Void was speechless. You are... seriously a skinflint and shake out everything you can from anything you get your hands on!

“Also, you’ll need a lot of pure dao strength if you revitalize in this manner,” continued Li Hao. “Have you prepared that?”

Void shook his head awkwardly. I haven’t! I had that before, but I’ve spent it all. Father wanted to take me with him when he left, but I insisted on staying and setting off on my own. And now... I’m too embarrassed to ask for money.

He’d absorbed all of Red Moon’s world strength to propel himself to peak sixth rank. Void would retain a portion of this energy after walking the cycle of life and death, but most of it would dissipate. He didn’t need to call upon an eighth rank world’s strength, but would also invest a colossal amount of resources into the endeavor.

I forgot about this!

Void had never been short on money in his life since he was a rich second gen. That portion that he’d been short on before had been shored up when he absorbed the strength of an eighth rank world. It was only now that he recalled... I don’t seem to have a source of income.

I’ve spent all my money!

What do I do now?

Li Hao stared wordlessly at his friend.

I thought a rich second gen like you would have deeper pockets than the rest of us, but yours are so shallow! And you want to walk the cycle of life and death?? You’ve seriously got some outlandish notions going on and you’re less reliable than me! At least I’m prepared!

The young man hadn’t lacked resources before and shoved all of his gains at Silver Moon. He had only the dregs left, which he’d used to revitalize himself.

“How about... I ask my father for some?” proposed a conflicted Void. “I should be able to save some of it, but now that I think about it, it’ll be almost impossible to fully recover to peak condition without eight hundred million or one billion dao crystals.”

That figure was easily spoken of, just a billion or so dao crystals. Li Hao had consumed more than this when he was depleting his resources.

However, ten million dao crystals were sufficient to buy a minor world and one hundred million could buy a weaker mid world. Li Hao had no dao crystals at present!

Should he ask the Light master for some?

It would be embarrassing for Void. Li Hao didn’t want the Light master to be involved either—that would be very troublesome. Perhaps someone would take advantage of the opening to enter Skyward. That would be equally problematic.

Regular sixth ranks didn’t need this many dao crystals, but Void did.

“How about...” Li Hao opened his mouth when his thoughts traveled here. “We ask the seventh ranks for some? Perhaps we’ll have enough if we pool our wallets together?”

“......” Void didn’t say anything. Those beggars spent everything they had when they ascended. Are you sure they have a single dao crystal to their name?

He was suddenly realizing that he was seriously very poor! He didn’t even have several hundred million dao crystals in his storage ring!

We robbed four major worlds, but we’re still so poor! Where did all of our money go??

It was only now that he understood what a luxury it’d been for Li Hao to burn so much money in Silver Moon!

The two fretted over their lack of dao crystals. What a hassle! They were short on money again!

“If it really can’t be helped, then I won’t walk the cycle of life and death,” sighed Void. “Being an exalted emperor of four extreme daos is good enough!”

It was difficult to fully understand life and death without experiencing both of them once. Cultivators of life and death were rich compared to their peers. I’m the son of an eighth rank, but I feel like it’s too rich for my taste. Walking the cycle once is hard enough, but Li Hao’s done so four times... but he also absorbed all of the lingering energy from the two seventh ranks we killed.

Only then were his needs fulfilled.

Void didn’t mind it in the past. Now that he thought about it, each of the three had been allotted more than one hundred million dao crystals when they killed Clarity. Just Clarity alone had been worth five hundred million dao crystals, but Li Hao had spent one billion dao crystals to recover to fifth rank!

Void hadn’t taken note of this detail before!

Now that he did... he was discovering that everything was impossible without money. A headache brewed at his temples while Li Hao contemplated something.

Regular masters of major worlds could afford to take out one billion dao crystals. The Orchid Forest master had only been a sixth rank before. If it wasn’t for him consuming most of his resources in his ascension, he would’ve easily taken out several hundred million dao crystals.

What, were he and Void supposed to rob a seventh rank?

Void had helped him greatly along the way, so Li Hao had taken Skyward partially for Silver Moon and partially for Void...

Being the master of two sets of extreme daos was not bad at all!

He was just a bit regretful that he’d only needed a bit more energy to be better. Li Hao quickly sent some messages through transmission when his thoughts traveled here. Four shadows appeared moments later as the young man still wanted to give their first idea a try.”

“My apologies for disturbing you again, seniors. We’re short on energy at the moment—energy of the great dao. We just need a billion or so dao crystals. Are the seniors able to come up with such a figure for us to borrow?”

The exalted emperors exchanged glances with each other. The Sword Sovereign coughed awkwardly, “I have some savings here... about thirty million. I saved them from my earlier travels...”

“I spent it all when I broke through!” The Orchid Forest master helplessly turned his palms upward.

Meanwhile, Li Zhu didn’t make a sound. He pretended not to have heard anything. He didn’t have what the two needed; he was even poorer than the Sword Sovereign.

“I have a bit left from when we killed Red Velarium,” Fog Mountain chuckled ruefully. “A lot of dao strength was left behind then, which I didn’t turn into Skycloud. However, it isn’t much compared to what you guys need. If I contrast it to your figures, it’d be lucky if I ended up with one hundred million dao crystals.”

Four seventh ranks could only come up with one hundred and thirty million dao crystals. There was also the son of an eighth rank and the fifth rank Silver Moon king among them...

The entire group had previously spent money like water, but now that a critical moment was upon them, they couldn’t even come up with two hundred million.

Li Hao grinned ruefully!

“Then let’s silence Skyward,” he said. “Skyward’s world strength should be able to produce dao crystals... Except, we need to reserve those for revitalizing Skyward with. If we don’t, we might be able to gather what you need.”

However, that was not feasible! They could not silence Skyward and not bring it back to life either.

“Forget it, I’ll go to my father,” said Void when he saw that everyone was struggling with his matters. “Although one billion will be a bit difficult to obtain... my father can produce that after one million years of accumulation!”

A shadow suddenly appeared when everyone was at their wit’s end—the dao chess!

“Do you guys want dao crystals?”

Void looked at the dao chess shadow in front of him, surprised that it had chosen to show itself now.
