SSS Ranked Shadow Monarch: Summoning Infinite Shadows-Chapter 211: Julius Silver
"Good," the man said, and then he teleported with Roy.
Aren, who had been watching the entire thing, was left with tons of questions.
"Demonic energy? What’s that, and why did he react to it that way?"
A lot of questions flooded Aren’s mind, but there was no one to answer them for him.
"Sigh, that’s not important now," he sighed and continued his climb. The thought was still at the back of his mind, but he couldn’t be worried about what he didn’t know.
The journey up was pretty much bland for him. He climbed stair after stair and fought monster after monster. He was getting slower due to the pressure and the constant walking, but ultimately, there wasn’t any real hindrance, and by the midway point of the second day, Aren made it to the ninety-ninth floor, the final floor before the Arena.
So far, only Awakened monsters had come to fight him, but as soon as he stepped onto the floor alone, he was faced with a wyvern.
The terrifying beast stood there, an Evolved monster with scales as black as night and eyes that saw through all. It wasn’t as large as the salamanders that they were forced to fight, but it was far more terrifying.
Roaaaar
It let out a roar that shook the air. Aren stared at it and then smiled. "I’ll fight this myself, no summons. I feel kind of bad, since I can’t actually turn you into my summon. You would have made a fine addition," he said as he then took out the Ancient Devourer.
The wyvern saw the blade and knew that Aren was ready for a fight, so it opened its mouth and immediately unleashed a powerful flame breath. The chest of the wyvern turned red-hot as it attacked, showing the intensity of the heat.
"Going hard already," Aren said, and he leaped out of the way, rolling and coming to a stop on one knee.
The flames slammed into the wall hard, and despite it being made of marble, it still turned red-hot on impact.
"Damn, the dragon family is a real powerhouse," Aren said as he got to his feet. He lunged forward, trying to attack from the side. The wyvern noticed this and flapped its wings, shooting into the air to dodge and then blasting another flame breath.
Aren dodged again, his eyes still pinned on the monster. He scanned for the right opening and lunged forward. The wyvern tried to keep an eye on Aren, and then it lunged down to attack him, claws ready to grab and rip him apart, but Aren was also ready for it.
He used his right hand with the wolf guard and blocked. The wyvern’s claws clamped onto that arm, but they weren’t able to penetrate it. The wyvern tried to fly Aren into the air and slam him down, but Aren reacted fast as he slashed toward the wyvern.
It panicked and flapped its wings hard to shoot into the air and dodge. That was a mistake. It didn’t calculate properly, and so it slammed into the ceiling. It was a pretty high ceiling, but with the way it flew up, it was bound to hit it.
BAM
It fell from the ceiling to the ground hard. It struggled back to its feet, looking at Aren with rage.
"Don’t look at me like that, did I do that to you?" Aren asked and then let out a smile. "Regardless of your stupidity, let’s end this," he said and then bolted forward.
The wyvern instantly attacked with a powerful flame breath that moved like a high-powered jet of water.
Aren saw the incoming attack. He planted his foot into the ground and then spun to the side, the flames passing right past him as he kept running forward. He could feel the intense heat, but rather than scare him, it somehow made him more excited as he sped up.
The wyvern saw Aren right in front of it. It panicked and tried to bite him, but Aren dodged and then landed a clean uppercut to the head of the wyvern. It knocked it back so hard that its neck was exposed.
"Now for the kill," Aren said with a grin and then dashed forward, slashing clean through the wyvern. Its head fell to the ground with a loud thud.
"Damn, it’s been a while since I fought alone. I’ve forgotten the thrill," he said with a smile and then walked toward the stairs.
After walking for an extra hour, he finally made it to the hundredth floor, and the moment he stepped in, all the pressure vanished. His body instantly felt so light that even the food in his gut almost came out as vomit.
"It seems weird that our first to finish is you." A voice reached Aren. He looked up, and it was the same man who had taken Roy away.
The man smiled at Aren. "My name is Julius, Julius Silver, and congrats on being the first to make it here," he said calmly.
Aren looked at him, his eyes still a bit hazy from the change in pressure. He straightened himself up. "My name is Aren," he stated.
"I know, you are one of the chosen after all," Julius said.
Aren looked at him with a bit of suspicion. "If you know that, that means you are someone high up, so why would you greet me, and why would you come and stop my fight with Roy?" Aren asked.
"Well, that’s because I was tasked to be the enforcer of rules here," he said, and then let out a slight bit of aura that Aren felt. It was like an all-powerful snake wrapping around him.
"Don’t bother yourself with those issues, though. You should be worrying about how to make the best of being the first. There are a lot of benefits to it," he said as he then turned around to start walking.
"Come with me, if you have enough strength to walk, that is."
