Chapter 67: Returning to the Village.

Name: Lloyd Kaitos Morfeus.

Age: 12 years old.

Race: Half-breed - Human (75%) - Incubus (25%)

Title: Demonic Monarch of Chaos — The Chosen of Dawn.

Traits:

[Necromancer] {awakened}

[Incubus Blood] {awakened}

[Primordial Chaos Core]

[Mark of the Chosen]

Abilities:

[Mirror of Astaroth]

Rank: Theta

"This mirror doesn’t simply reflect the user’s image, it also reflects information about their existence."

"The user acquires a detailed description of their abilities and physical characteristics."

"This ability also allows reading the user’s status, but not only that, it also allows rewriting this status through V.P."

"For example if the user is burning, or poisoned, the user can nullify this status by spending a specific amount of V.P."

[Leviathan’s Pupil]

Rank: Theta.

[Constellation of Sloth]

Rank: Iota.

"The constellation of sloth offers its user the ability to make life simpler through overwhelming talent."

"The benefit the constellation offers goes beyond talent; it’s a learning ability so high it seeks to erase the need for effort."

"The user can awaken a {talent star} to complete the constellation. Each star represents a talent, and with each rank allows adding one more star."

"Stars have different qualities that indicate the intensity of talent: purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, golden, silver, white and black. The closer to black, the more intense the talent. You can obtain stars by completing missions or ranking up the ability; by combining lower level stars you can increase their rank."

Current talents:

Sword of Belphegor: Yellow.

Spiritual affinity: Red.

Magical Talent: Yellow.

Empty slot (3).

Unused stars: × 1 orange.

[Swamp of Gluttony]

Rank: Theta

Lloyd let out a disappointed sigh.

Perhaps investing in the mirror of vainglory hadn’t been the best idea.

He had spent quite a lot of V.P to raise the mirror to Theta rank, expecting the change to be big.

However, he had ended up spending V.P foolishly.

The ability to rewrite his status might seem good, however it spent V.P so it was quite limited.

Moreover, he wasn’t easy to poison thanks to his swamp of gluttony, so it was almost stupid to have that ability.

"I should have invested more in the constellation of sloth," the boy said to himself while walking through the forest lazily.

He had used the swamp to travel back quickly to the beast-men village, though the last stretch he did walking.

He wanted to take advantage of that part of the path to verify his status, distribute points, and observe the supposed "ancient vestige."

That turned out to be a disappointment, a simple ancient stone with some symbols Lloyd couldn’t read. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"A shame, I really ended up screwing up... well whatever, I’ll find another way to get V.P," Lloyd commented quietly, while dragging his feet lazily.

The boy kept walking, the village lights were already visible.

Lloyd continued walking on the stone path listlessly, when he noticed a presence approaching.

"Who’s there?" Lloyd asked, when from the forest, a figure jumped toward him.

Lloyd’s first reaction was to prepare for combat, however, he didn’t feel murderous intentions from the silhouette, so he relaxed.

"Llooooooyd!" a familiar voice then shouted.

It was Sköll.

Who ended up landing on Lloyd, who almost fell to the ground because of her.

"So it was you, hello Sköll," the boy commented with a neutral tone.

The girl, who had hung from his neck, immediately separated upon noticing the boy’s response.

"Damn idiot, what kind of response is that? Don’t you know how worried we were about you? Where the hell had you gone?" the wolf-girl demanded to know, while crossing her arms with indignation.

Lloyd shrugged without giving it too much importance.

"I just went to train like every day, I don’t know why you’re acting like this," Lloyd commented with indifference.

The truth is Lloyd was too disappointed at that moment to show any emotion.

Though it was also true it was in his nature to be cold.

At Lloyd’s response, Sköll puffed her cheeks and looked at him reproachfully.

"Hmp, you really are insensitive you know? Do you know how late it is? We were worried!" the girl exclaimed with indignation.

Lloyd didn’t want to pay attention to her, however the truth is Sköll wasn’t wrong.

He had left as always, but hadn’t returned at the time he normally would.

Perhaps it wasn’t such a serious matter at first, but if you add to that the assassin guild was still active, one could worry.

Lloyd hadn’t even stayed in his typical training place, so if they went to look for him they didn’t find him there.

In other words, it really was insensitive on his part not to give notice of his departure.

Lloyd knew at that moment, he hadn’t thought about that, after all he was more attentive to the mission than anything else.

But now that he reflected on it, it was true it would have been good to give notice.

While deep down he didn’t care, to avoid prolonging the conflict, Lloyd decided to swallow his pride and accept his mistake.

"You’re right, I was insensitive not to give notice I was going to be late, I’m sorry," the boy apologized while bowing forward.

It was better to acknowledge his mistake at that moment than prolong the situation.

[-50 V.P]

Lloyd’s expression upon hearing that notification froze.

It was true, swallowing his pride was the worst thing he could do at that moment.

The demonic transcendence well of pride was going to punish him for it.

Lloyd tried to curse aloud upon realizing his mistake.

Anyway, it was only 50 V.P, something he could recover easily.

Though on the other hand, Lloyd wondered what attitude the system wanted him to have.

Perhaps the system wanted Lloyd to respond with something like "Ha! As if I care about your opinion, I’m a free man and I do what I want."

Or something like that.

However, that response seemed to calm Sköll.

"Well, I suppose that’s fine. But don’t do it again!" the girl responded with a tone of moral superiority. "Though well, the truth is your absence worked out well for us, it gave us time to prepare the surprise for you."

Lloyd raised an eyebrow hearing that.

"Surprise? What surprise?"

Apparently, a surprise awaited Lloyd in the village.
