Chapter 220: Not again?!

Unfortunately, no good deed goes unpunished, and in Damon’s case, this seemed to have come true almost instantaneously.

"Surprise. Now we can be together both in the real world and inside the game world." A familiar voice sounded behind him. A voice so sweet and so melodious and oh so full of love, but it only made the hair on Damon’s back stand up straight.

"Aurora?" Damon gulped and spoke the name he was almost too afraid to speak up.

"Of course, it’s me, dummy. Who else would it be?" Aurora giggled.

He turned around slowly, as if hoping that maybe, just maybe, he was hallucinating. But no, there she was. Aurora. In the flesh. Dressed in a simple pair of blue jeans and a white t-shirt, which did nothing to bring down her absolutely stunning beauty or her unhinged presence.

Her silver-blonde hair shimmered even under the dull castle torchlight, and her eyes sparkled with manic devotion, like a romantic villainess who had just found her favorite obsession again.

"Wh-what... how?" Damon blinked, genuinely rattled. He took a small, involuntary step back. "How... are you even here?"

Aurora’s smile widened, far too pleased with herself. "Wouldn’t you like to know? I was going to surprise you today, but instead, you gave me the surprise."

Damon still did not understand.

"We were staying with Sylvara, and suddenly we got a message that many things had happened. We were going to hurry to support you, but before that, everything was already over." The other person standing next to Aurora explained. Naturally, this was none other than the fire goddess, Meira.

Damon gulped. "So you both are with them?"

Meira nodded, but Aurora tilted her head with a small pout. "Not with them. With you, Blood God. This way, I can give you my blood whenever you need it. We don’t need to be apart at all. Don’t you think it’s very convenient?" She beamed with happiness, looking all cute and bubbly.

Damon gulped again.

Meira could no longer digest the events unfolding in front of her and mumbled something before she slowly walked out of the room, leaving behind just Damon and Aurora. But thanks to his shitty luck, this did not last long.

The next moment, Kate wandered back to find him for something. As did Sylvara.

Suddenly, just like that, Damon found himself in the presence of the same three women all over again. This was the exact situation he had wanted to avoid at all costs, and yet here he was once again, in less than a day?

Damon felt as if his brain was going to short-circuit. He did not like this confrontation. Not one bit. "Cough. Cough. Everyone, I am extremely sorry, but I need a break. I am very tired and drained after the fight. Can I meet with all of you in a little bit?"

All three of them looked at him with kind and caring eyes, so much so that it made Damon freeze mid-step. There was no anger, no jealousy, no competition in their expressions. Just concern. Genuine, unfiltered concern. The kind that made his carefully honed instincts for self-preservation falter.

Aurora stepped forward first, her voice soft and radiant as always. "It’s okay, Damon. You don’t have to explain anything. Just rest. We’ll be here when you’re ready."

Kate gave a shy, encouraging smile, her hands clasped in front of her. "You’ve been through so much already. I just wanted to make sure you were alright. That’s all."

Sylvara, calm and poised as ever, simply gave him a nod. "You don’t need to carry everything alone. Let others take some of the weight, even if it’s just for a little while. Let me know if you need any help."

With that, the three of them stepped back, gracefully, gently, giving Damon space as if they understood just how tightly wound he was behind that calm mask.

Damon stood there, staring at them as they turned and drifted away down different corridors of the castle, their footsteps soft against the polished stone. He let out a long breath and turned to lean against the nearest wall, closing his eyes. A bitter laugh escaped his lips.

"I guess I deserve this."

But he really was tired. La Rocha informed him that the teleportation was going to take some time, and Damon decided to take this chance to rest a bit. He walked over and picked one of the empty rooms in the mana-rich zones.

His body could take mana 24 7 so he did not care about whether mana was present or not.

"You have your own wing and a master bedroom." La Rocha chimed in as if he was spitting out an afterthought. freewёbnoνel.com

Damon had half a mind to take a look at that out of curiosity, but he was also dead tired. So he simply decided to stay here for tonight. This room was, anyway, luxurious as hell. He flopped onto the giant, comfortable bed lined with silk sheets and whatnot.

As soon as his head hit the pillow, the tension in his body began to unravel like a snapped bowstring. The silk sheets were cool against his skin, and the thick mana in the air soothed his battered spirit like a lullaby.

For a while, he simply lay there, staring up at the ornate ceiling carved with glowing runes that shifted lazily like clouds across a twilight sky. He was extremely tired, and yet he couldn’t fall asleep easily.

For tonight, his family was safe, he was safe, and the few people who came here trusting him were safe. Well, kind of. La Rocha still couldn’t be trusted completely.

But what was going to happen tomorrow? And the day after?

It looked like it was time he earnestly started dealing with the legacy families, the so-called super secretive hidden families, each probably possessing some sort of soul cultivation technique, and of course, the ten super guilds, which would soon surface in the game.

Unless and until he could power up to their level, there would never be a moment of peace in his life.
