SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God-Chapter 102: An anomaly?
Chapter 102: An anomaly?
Kate didn’t hesitate. All six blood orbs snapped into orbit, flaring like mini red stars. One by one, they shot toward the big boss with insane power and speed and smacked him right on his face. The blood magic hissed as it hit his flaming body, disrupting his molten aura every time they struck.
Kate knew that she was the primary long-range, and ultimately, this fight outcome would come to rest on her shoulders. She did not want to disappoint Damon or her brother, so she used her utmost focus and concentration and put everything she had into this fight, conjuring more and more blood orbs as soon as the last ones shot forward.
However, the next second, she realized she was sorely mistaken.
Mark slammed his fists together, triggering a ripple of force. Runes along his arms ignited, and he directly used his raw strength to tear off a chunk of the stone wall from behind him. With a grunt, he hurled it like a boulder toward the throne. The rock caught fire mid-flight but still struck Ignaros squarely, making the boss grunt and stumble back a step.
Kate grinned at her stupidly awesome brother. But she was not about to be outdone. Her blood magic was a lot stronger than these dumb rocks. So she made her blood orbs extra juicy to deal more damage.
But just as she did that, another attack zoomed past her blood orb. A ball of fire. But unlike the normal balls of fire, this one packed a hell of a lot more. It was almost like the ones the fire witch cast, maybe even more powerful than hers. What the hell?
She turned around to see Damon grinning like a lunatic as he had another big ball of fire prepped and ready to go. With his new gear, added stats, and improved fire affinity, it would be a crime if he did not use fire magic attacks. It was time to fight fire with fire.
Kate’s jaw dropped. "You... you’re casting fireballs now?"
Damon didn’t answer right away. Instead, he lobbed the second one with a smooth underhanded motion. It arced high, then detonated against Ignaros’s chest like a miniature sun, sending a ripple of heat and molten fragments outward. The boss staggered again.
"Damn! So you can use fire, shadow, and blood magic?" Kate stared in awe.
"He also used a divine-type healing skill on us. You did not notice it?" Mark grinned as he threw another chunk of rock at the boss.
Kate’s eyes widened as she processed that. "Wait, what? Blood, shadow, fire, and now divine? That’s four elements! Wait, you are a vampire? How could you even use divine energy? Shouldn’t it be incompatible or something?"
Damon chuckled as he launched another spell, this time a chained volley of [Infernal Pulse] and [Fireball], detonating one after another in rhythmic bursts along Ignaros’s legs and torso, driving the boss further back toward the edge of the lava ring. "Let’s just say I’m... versatile."
"Versatile my ass!" Kate muttered, sending out a volley of blood orbs that looked particularly nasty. "A fire resistance that seems to increase with the number of enemies you face, a versatile skill set for you to play with, insane stats, and an unbelievable mana pool! Just what the hell is your class?"
Damon smiled as Mark answered on his behalf. "He has the bloodline of a primordial god. What else did you expect, little sis? I know you are competitive as hell, but this time it’s best if you just compete with me and not with him."
Kate shook her head. "No way." She pumped up her blood orbs and made them more deadly.
Mark let out a helpless sigh, and Damon just chuckled. Both of them were used to this side of hers anyway.
’Your girlfriend is very intense.’ Blood Reign chimed in.
’Ughh. She is not my girlfriend.’
’Then, why don’t you tell her about your little engagement?’ Blood Reign giggled.
Damon’s face changed for an instant before he awkwardly cleared his throat and continued hurling attacks at the big boss. ’Stop disturbing me. I am very busy. I will fill them in sooner or later. Obviously.’
Ignaros let out a deafening roar, his molten body flaring like a dying star trying to reignite. Flames surged around him in retaliation, but even that couldn’t drown out the quiet mental laughter echoing in Damon’s head.
’Sure, sure, Lord Blood God. You are indeed very busy now,’ Blood Reign said with another infuriatingly gleeful giggle. ’Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to remind you another time.’
Damon gritted his teeth and continued his assault. Soon, the boss’s health dropped to 10%. At this point, there were no longer any safe zones. "Keep moving. Otherwise, you will die." Damon shouted as he summoned his shadow clone.
Between the three of them, the last phase was also not much of a trouble. In the next few seconds, the boss’s health already reached the last 2%. The fight was just about to get done when suddenly the boss stopped chanting.
Damon paused. This was not supposed to happen?
The next second, the lava on the ground started sploshing, and something huge popped out from under the lava pool.
A big lava serpent!
"Huh? Isn’t this the hidden boss?" Damon was confused. The hidden boss, the lava serpent, should only come out after the final boss was down.
Why was it out now itself when the fight was still going on? Were the guides and information forums on this dungeon from his last life wrong?
Or perhaps this anomaly was something that happened in the very first run?
Either way, this serpent added a wrench in his plans, and it needed to be taken care of ASAP!
A sickening hiss echoed through the chamber as the massive serpent coiled above the lava, its body dripping molten scales and its eyes glowing with the fury of a sun trapped beneath the earth. It reared up, towering even above Ignaros, who had stopped moving, his molten body flickering as if struggling to maintain form.
