Chapter 337: First Legendary Skill

Although there was a large number of skills to choose from. Moon’s eyes only focused on three; Advanced Elemental Body, Purify and...Appraisal.

Evolving his elemental body might provide him with a stronger element than lightning. It wasn’t a guarantee, but it was possible. Having a stronger element would make his firepower stronger than ever.

But after some deeper thinking, Moon rejected the idea. Whilst having an element stronger than lightning was certainly inticing, it was certainly not the smartest idea.

His class allowed him to copy classes, and in the Second Sanctuary he would certainly encounter more powerful Evolvers with advanced elements like ice, and others.

Moon’s firepower had never been an issue, even against Supreme Rank creature like the turtle. Although it had taken him a long time to kill, his attacks were still very effective, leading to its eventual death.

His eyes landed on Purify. The skill was really powerful, he had copied it from Mara inside the S-Rank gate. It played a big role in saving Nina from the clutches of the Fox, and eventually healing him from the various injuries.

The possibilities its evolution provided were equally terrifying.

Moon’s eyes landed on Appraisal. The last skill on his watchlist, and the one he was leaning towards the most.

With Appraisal, and Purify...both skills were useful. And, if he had the chance, Moon would evolve both without hesitation, but alas, that didn’t exist.

After more thinking, Moon decided to pick appraisal. It was the one that provided him with the highest possibility of success and usefulness.

Appraisal was incredibly limited at its current stage, the skill worked on objects but not on humans. Moon currently has to rely on observation to guess a person’s class or skill set. He was also unable to understand the effects the core of a supreme ranked creature provided.

If Appraisal solved any of the two issues, the skill would be of immense help to Moon.

Beast cores were always known to be used for one thing, creating weapons that channel the element or strengthen the holder. But, supreme rank cores seemed to have an additional function that the weaker cores didn’t have.

Moon was certain it wasn’t going to be something simple, and the only way he could possibly find it without endangering himself or wasting such a valuable core was through appraisal.

So, Moon chose it.

[Appraisal]

[Rank: Epic]

[Level: MAX] [Evolve]

[Details: You can perceive far beyond what normal sight reveals. Your enhanced perception reveals detailed information about item rank, composition, and enchantments. This skill also detects concealed properties and curses with supernatural accuracy. +100% Information Depth and Accuracy. +100% Detection Range for Hidden Properties.]

[Spend 10 Super Lives to Evolve ’Appraisal’ to Legendary Rank]

Moon took a deep breath and accepted it.

[Your Skill ’Appraisal has reached Legendary Rank]

[Appraisal has evolved to the Legendary Rank Skill—Eye of Truth]

Moon’s heart skipped a beat for a brief moment, looking at the name of the skill...it certainly sounded powerful.

"Eye of Truth...I like that." Moon grinned, accessing his new skill.

[Eye of Truth]

[Rank: Legendary]

[Level: 10] [Evolve]

Before Moon could continue reading till the details of the skill, his eyes landed on the level.

"This...the maximum cap on the skill’s level has been lifted? It became higher?" Moon’s eyes widened in disbelief.

He had thought that legendary skills were simply stronger skills, but...it turned out that they also had higher level threshold. This meant that his legendary skill could be improved further!

Moon physically stopped himself from thinking of evolving the skill.

"Let’s see what the skill provides first. Then, check out what the evolution requirement needs."

[Eye of Truth]

[Details: Your eye perceives the truth about living/non-living things. You are able to detect hidden effects/properties of items. +100% Truth Revelation. +500% Detection Range for Hidden Properties.]

Moon read through the skill. The skill description had shortened, but Moon knew that didn’t mean it got weaker, certainly not.

Moon decided to test its effect immediately. He dove with his consciousness into the storage ring, and brought out the Supreme Rank Core of the Three Tailed Fox out.

"Time for the moment of truth."

Moon still remembered the exact words that the core had provided before.

Appraisal had told him that the core was the condensed essence of a Supreme-rank creature, containing immense power within. Holding the pure, concentrated spirit of the Three-Tailed Illusion Fox.

It had also told him that the item could be &$%* to &$%*

[Three-Tailed Illusion Fox Core]

[Order: First]

[Rank: Supreme]

[Details: The condensed essence of a Supreme-rank creature, containing its true soul power within. This core holds the pure, concentrated spirit of the Three-Tailed Illusion Fox. The item could be devoured by creatures following the path of illusion to gain a core trait of the Three-Tailed illusion Fox. The core is highly potent in soul power, and dangerous to consume without correct path or suitable strength.]

Moon’s body shuddered as he read through the details.

"This... these cores grant core skills to creatures that devour them. As long as they follow the path of illusion..."

A world of possibilities began to swirl in his mind. This was a shocking discovery. Perhaps as shocking as the existence of Supreme Rank creatures themselves.

If a creature following the path of illusion could gain the fox’s core trait by consuming this, then that meant humans could too. The Eye of Truth didn’t specify after all, as long as one walked the same path, they could.

Had this information been given to him before entering the river of ???, Moon would have had no idea what it meant. But after stepping into that river, and after understanding that different skills could form different paths, it all clicked into place.

Humans and beasts weren’t so different after all. They both followed the same path of power inside that mysterious river he had entered in Lunaris.

"The Second Sanctuary... it’s so much more important than I thought." Moon muttered.

As an Awakener, he had no access to that river except for the one time he had gained access in the Pavilion of the World’s Flaw. But in the Second Sanctuary, from what he had heard and seen, Surpassers had the ability to enter the path and expand their own power from within it.

Moon’s gaze drifted toward Mirage, who was gnawing on a chunk of turtle meat beside the fire.

"Just what path are you following, partner?"

The more he thought about it, the more certain he became. Mirage was no normal beast. Moon had assumed the horse had been evolving naturally, following the standard progression of his species. But that didn’t seem normal anymore.

Mirage was an irregular in the world of beasts.

The same way Moon was an irregular among humans. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

One, important question arose instantly.

"Would Mirage gain a trait if he devoured the core?"
