Spoiled by the CEO after amnesia!-Chapter 442 - 440: Get Your Son Away from Qixing
Jiayi dodged his hand, trying to avoid any contact, but their fingertips inevitably grazed each other.
With each touch, it felt as if sparks flew.
As time trickled by, Jiayi saw that Zaizai was about to fall asleep. She prepared to get up but hadn’t yet sat up when Zaizai grabbed her finger and pulled her back.
"Mummy..." Zaizai mumbled, drooling in his sleep as if he sensed Mummy was going to leave.
Jiayi smiled wryly. This kid had the same instincts as that man, still so alert even in his sleep.
Then a voice came from the other side, "Where are you planning to sleep?"
Jiayi was startled, "I was waiting for him to fall asleep; then I intended to go to the servant’s room downstairs."
"Just sleep here," Huo Zhenyang’s voice was lazily casual, deep and magnetic in the dim bedroom, with a hint of seduction.
Jiayi’s heart skipped a beat, "No need."
"You’ve slept on this bed before; the first time is the hardest, the second comes easily. Are you pretending to be a stranger now?" He glanced at her sideways.
Jiayi’s face turned red, afraid that Zaizai would hear them, though he already knew. Nevertheless, she didn’t want him to hear it again. Biting her lip, she whispered, "Mr. Huo, please stop talking."
The little woman blushed profusely, making him smile.
The night deepened further.
Zaizai’s breathing became steady; this time, he had fallen into a deep sleep.
Jiayi’s eyelids drooped, and she glanced at the man from the corner of her eye. His breathing was even, and his eyes were tightly shut; he seemed to be asleep.
She placed Zaizai’s hand back under the covers and quietly got up. She’d originally wanted to go downstairs to the servant’s room to spend the night but then thought about it. Zaizai was a light sleeper; if he woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t see her, he would surely cause a fuss, and it wouldn’t be good if that disturbed the man.
She went to the couch in the outer bedroom, which would make it easy to come in at any time.
The couch was comfortable: soft and solid with excellent elasticity.
The moment Jiayi lay down, sleepiness overcame her, and she no longer could fight the heaviness of her eyelids, and she fell asleep on the couch.
After an unknown amount of time had passed, in the inner bedroom, on the big bed, Zaizai felt the emptiness beside him, turned over, and opened his eyes.
Where was Mummy?
He sat up, glanced at the couch in the outer room, turned around, and pouted, "Goddad, Mummy ran away."
Huo Zhenyang had not been sleeping profoundly; as soon as Little Meatball’s whiny voice emerged, he woke up.
His gaze drifted, landing on the woman’s figure on the couch, "Shall I call your Mummy over?"
"Yeah." Zaizai nodded repeatedly and then obediently closed his eyes again.
Huo Zhenyang gently straightened his sleeping robe, stood up his tall frame, and walked over to the couch in the outer room.
The little woman curled up on the couch appeared even more petite against the large couch, her long lashes resting on her eyelids like the wings of a butterfly at rest.
He approached and lifted her from the couch.
Her frame was delicately slim, and with the slightest weight loss, she seemed ethereal.
These days, the workload in Yundu had been too much, and she had gotten thinner than before. Holding her in his arms, she felt light as air, barely of any weight.
The sleeping beauty, her eyes tightly shut, lay with cheeks flushed a rosy hue, as if stained with rouge, unconsciously turning slightly in the man’s embrace.
He lifted her delicate wrist and draped it over his neck, taking step by step towards the bed.
She felt nothing amiss, sleeping comfortably, and only felt warmer than on the sofa, instinctively tightening her hold around the man’s neck.
At the bedside, Huo Zhenyang bent over and placed Jiayi beside Zaizai, glanced at the mother and son sleeping soundly on the bed, and walked out of the bedroom.
Passing through the hallway, he pushed the door open and entered the study.
In the dead of night, the view outside the floor-to-ceiling windows was as dark as ink, the time when the city’s inhabitants slept their deepest.
He picked up his phone and pressed one of the numbers on his contacts list.
Seconds later, the call connected, and a middle-aged man’s voice could be heard on the other end. It was a late-night call that disturbed one’s sweet dreams, but, despite the sleepiness, the voice was very polite and respectful:
"Huo Zhenyang? What brings you to call so late at night?"
"I heard Vice Mayor Xu’s son had a bit of trouble today, is that so?"
Huo Zhenyang’s pace was not hurried, his tone indifferent, but even through the phone, his unrivalled supremacy was palpable to the man on the other end.
Vice Mayor Xu was taken aback, "How did you know, Huo Zhenyang? My Xiaobo had a small incident at the kindergarten, just some quarrels between classmates, but it wasn’t serious. I appreciate your concern."
"Not serious, yet it led to a classmate being forced to withdraw?" The man’s voice carried a hint of displeasure at this point.
Vice Mayor Xu was even more flustered, "How could you know? Moreover, it wasn’t me who forced anyone. That troublemaker hit my Xiaobo until he had a bruised nose and a swollen face. If that troublemaker is so domineering at such a young age, what will he become when he grows up? I was too angry, so I had the kindergarten order that child to withdraw."
What does this have to do with Huo Zhenyang? Did Huo Zhenyang personally call in the middle of the night just for this?
A troublemaker? Hearing Vice Mayor Xu’s description of Zaizai, Huo Zhenyang’s tone became even colder and more chilling, "Within three days, have your son leave Qixing."
Vice Mayor Xu was dumbfounded, "What... what do you mean? My Xiaobo was the one who got hit, why should my son transfer schools?"
Could that child be Huo Zhenyang’s relative or a friend’s child?
Impossible.
There were many children from prominent families at Qixing Kindergarten, and fearing that he might have offended someone unwittingly, Vice Mayor Xu had investigated. Chu Zhuoting was just a child from a single-parent family, who didn’t even have a father. That was why he pressured the kindergarten to expel Chu Zhuoting to avenge his own son.
How could Chu Zhuoting’s family have any connections to someone as important as Huo Zhenyang?
"Do I need to repeat myself?" The man’s words were measured and yet carried the force of thunder.
Vice Mayor Xu clearly heard the severity in the man’s voice, his hand trembling unconsciously as he held the phone. After a long silence, he gritted his teeth and said, "Fine, Huo Zhenyang."
After hanging up the phone, his wife, obviously having heard the conversation through the handset, sprung up from next to the pillow, "
Husband, what are you doing? Why should our Xiaobo have to transfer schools? You just agreed to Huo Zhenyang like that?! No matter how rich and powerful he is, he’s just a businessman. Do you have to listen to him?"
Vice Mayor Xu snapped out of his daze and glared fiercely at his wife, "Businessman? Since Huo Zhenyang’s return to the country, he has been covertly and completely acquiring large coastal enterprises, and until now, the media can’t even get a hint of him. Do you think such smooth progress would be possible without close government ties? This time, he might even take over Mayor Qiao’s position!"
Mayor Qiao was reaching retirement age, and in recent years, several deputy mayors had been covertly competing for that position.
But they had not anticipated... that the final candidate would be the dominant figure from the commercial world who had just returned to the country?
Mrs. Xu’s face tightened, "So... Huo Zhenyang is planning to enter politics?"
