Chapter 990: Death of Another True Immortal

It wasn’t as though Shang Xia was lacking in run ins with cultivators who had amazing backing. However... Even those he ran into might be prideful, none of them acted so arrogantly. All of them were extremely shrewd and it didn’t matter if he evaluated their skills or intellect, they were top-notch. They were definitely worthy of their inheritances...

The dumbass in front of him who was screaming about his backing when he appeared seemed... Pretty special...

Shang Xia was amazed that someone like that hadn’t been beaten to death yet.

How can someone like that run around a battlefield in a foreign world while running his mouth off? Is he some rookie cultivator or something?

Even though he found it remarkable to run into someone like that, Shi Lingsu clearly wasn’t taking Shang Xia seriously. It caused Shang Xia to take an interest in what was really happening.

With Shang Xia pointing out what was happening behind him, Shi Lingsu finally realized that his followers weren’t beside him. He was also unable to detect what was going on with his divine will.

Even though he was a weirdo, he wasn’t a fool. He took out all his life-saving treasures instantly and activated a protection talisman before getting ready to escape.

Who would have thought that the moment he moved, rays of five colored light would shoot past him before enveloping the space around them? Everything seemed to tremble lightly and Shi Lingsu discovered that he was stuck in place. He activated the talisman earlier, but it seemed completely useless.

Finally realizing who he was dealing with, he turned around abruptly and yelled, “It’s you...”

Shang Xia’s eyes narrowed slightly as a ray of five colored dipper qi shot at Shi Lingsu. He couldn’t move and was forced to condense a four-winged blade to stop the streak of light flashing at him.

Who would have thought that the four-winged blade that was formed with his dipper qi would be eaten away the second the five colored dipper qi came into contact with it? Even though he managed to weaken the five colored dipper qi, it didn’t slow down in the slightest.

However, Shang Xia wasn’t too surprised by the other party’s resistance. He could tell that Shi Lingsu wasn’t just at the fourth element of the Martial Dipper Realm, his fate dippers weren’t ordinary either. He should possess pretty impressive fighting strength. However, he seems to be pretty inexperienced in combat and even seemed slightly fearful of fighting...

With his five colored dipper qi tearing through the void, 2 loud snaps could be heard from Shi Lingsu. 2 of his life-saving treasures were shattered in an instant.

Shang Xia couldn’t help but chuckle to himself. Without the courage to fight... What was the point of having an impressive cultivation level?

Reaching out to tap the void, ripples started to spread from his fingertips. A powerful beam of five colored light surrounded them.

“Young Master Shang, please show mercy!” Shi Lingsu wanted to run when he discovered he had been saved by his treasures. However, his legs weren’t listening to him as he stood in place while staring at Shang Xia.

From what he heard, the person before him was a monster with a Holy Artifact and had the guts to fight against Martial Void Realm True Immortals at the Martial Dipper Realm! He was even able to leave unharmed after the exchange!

Shang Xia realized that Shi Lingsu discovered his identity when the words ‘It’s you...’ came out of Shi Lingsu’s lips. It was just that the other party didn’t get to say his full name earlier.

With his identity at the risk of being revealed by the dumbass in front of him, there was no way Shang Xia would allow him to speak further.

The moment his Five Element Space was formed, the entire region was sealed off from the outside world. No matter how Shi Lingsu screamed, no one would be able to hear him.

One had to say that Shi Lingsu was truly a legendary master at looking for trouble. If he acted as though he didn’t recognize Shang Xia earlier, he might really have been able to weasel his way out of death.

Unfortunately, he had to reveal to Shang Xia that he knew who he was.

With the situation in the Azure Oddity World where True Immortals were everywhere, Shang Xia had no choice but to silence him in order to keep his identity a secret.

“Young Master Shang, please don’t kill me! My Master...” The last treasure on him shattered as Shi Lingsu realized Shang Xia wasn’t planning to let him off. He burst forth with all his might as he tried to break out of the Five Element Space.

Unfortunately, he wasted too many chances to run. By the time he realized he fucked up, it was too late!

When the Five Element Space finally unraveled itself and the region returned to normal, Shang Xia’s figure emerged. His gaze seemed to pierce the ash cloud formed during the eruption. “Fellow cultivators... Since you’re already here, why don’t you show yourself?”

An alarmed cry came from within the ash cloud. “Who... Who are you?!”

“Who do you think I am?” Shang Xia chuckled and shot the question back at them.

The voice from earlier returned. “Since you’re not suppressed by the World’s Will, you’re most likely one of us. Why haven’t we seen you before?”

Shang Xia raised an eyebrow and smiled to himself. It seemed as though he was right. The people before him were cultivators of the Azure Oddity World!

Breaking out into laughter, Shang Xia muttered, “As a peak-tier Azure World, how can you be sure you have seen every single Martial Dipper Realm cultivator?”

“If we’re talking about ordinary experts in the Martial Dipper Realm, you might be right. However, you’re someone who refined all your fate dippers. Even if we don’t know who you are, can True Immortals Meng and True Immortal Zhuang not learn of your presence?” The voice from earlier hesitated slightly while speaking.

“Oh.” Shang Xia grunted before he continued, “Did you guys know that Yu Ji would step into the Martial Void Realm before it happened?”

Silence filled the air for a moment. Shang Xia wasn’t in a rush at all as he stared into the cloud of ash with a patient gaze.

“Senior Sister Yu has already been killed in the sect! She borrowed an external force in order to ascend and suffered grave injuries because of it!” Finally, another voice came from inside the ash cloud. This time, the person who spoke seemed like a lady.

When Shang Xia felt the cries of the Azure Oddity World’s Will back then, he knew that the True Immortals had acted. Meng Yuanxiu’s protection formation was most likely broken and the Elysium was lost.

However, from what he was hearing, True Immortal Meng Yuanxiu might still be alive...

“Where’s True Immortal Meng, is he still alive?” Shang Xia decided to ask after a short moment of contemplation.

Even though they weren’t replying, Shang Xia could tell that they were still there. He continued, “Has there been any news on True Immortal Zhuang? Were the 6 True Immortals surrounding waiting for True Immortal Zhuang before taking action?”

“Yes.” The person who was the first to speak earlier replied in a cautious voice.

“Why would the battle start suddenly? Did something happen to True Immortal Zhuang?” Shang Xia asked again.

This time, the female cultivator was the one to reply to Shang Xia. “Senior Sister Yu said that when True Immortal Zhuang was being hunted down in the void outside the world, he managed to turn the situation around and kill a True Immortal from the Spirit Abundance World, enraging the others.”

“Turning the situation around?” Shang Xia found it slightly weird.

True Immortal Zhuang was a second tier Martial Void Realm expert but there would be at least 3 to 5 True Immortals hunting him down. Their cultivation shouldn’t be weaker than him... Every single Martial Void Realm True Immortal had extensive combat experience and was as crafty as a wolf. How would a change in situation happen so suddenly?

The cultivator who was acting cautiously the entire time spoke again, “True Immortal Meng said that there was no way True Immortal Zhuang could kill them without help. However, he feels that True Immortal Meng probably received help from a secret source and he probably had to use himself as bait in order to turn the situation around to kill one of the enemies. True Immortal Zhuan is most likely heavily injured and there’s no way he can come to help us. That was why Senior Sister Yu chose to sacrifice herself to hold everyone back while True Immortal Meng sent us away in hopes that we could find a way to live.”

Even though the experts of the Azure Oddity World didn’t show their faces, Shang Xia knew that they had already bought his identity as someone from the Azure Oddity World.

“What do you guys plan to do next?” Shang Xia decided not to beat about the bush any longer.

As the dense ash cloud started to roll about, a dark gold flying ship slowly appeared in Shang Xia’s sight. There were 4 Martial Dipper Realm experts on it and there was only 1 female cultivator among them. Shang Xia discovered that they weren’t actually very old and their cultivation level wasn’t too high. All of them had cultivation realms in the first or second element of the Martial Dipper Realm.

For them to silently eliminate Shi Lingsu’s followers, Shang Xia was sure they were hiding some secrets.

Looking at the dark gold flying ship they were on, Shang Xia finally heard the voice of the strongest cultivator among them. He looked more mature than the others and he said, “Senior Brother, how should we address you? Is there a way for us to escape from the Azure Oddity World?”

Shang Xia didn’t answer the question directly. Instead, he asked one of his own. “Were you guys hiding in one of the volcanoes?”

Those on the flying ship stared at each other before their leader spoke again. “Exactly. Because of the eruption, we were forced out of hiding. Fortunately, we ran into you.”

Shang Xia nodded slowly. “Regardless, you guys dealt with his companions for me. I owe you one for that.”

Pausing slightly, Shang Xia continued, “I don’t have the ability to tear space open to send you guys directly into the sea of stars. Not to mention the fact that we’re surrounded by experts of the various worlds... Otherwise, True Immortal Meng wouldn’t have sent you guys to such a desolate place to fend for yourselves...”

“Senior Brother, you...” The female cultivator among them wanted to speak, but she was quickly stopped by their leader.

“Senior Brother, do you mean...” He seemed to have heard a hidden meaning in Shang Xia’s words.

Chuckling softly, Shang Xia added, “Since I don’t have a way to send you guys out of the world, we can only smoke our way out of this!” The smile on his face grew even wider. “Naturally... It’s not like it will definitely succeed.”

The leader stared at Shang Xia with a profound gaze before muttering in a low voice, “Senior Brother, what is your idea exactly?”

The smile on Shang Xia’s face disappeared as he became serious. “I can transform your aura for the time being to ensure the experts of the other worlds can’t determine if you’re cultivators of the Azure Oddity World. However... Whether you will be able to successfully escape will depend on how lucky you are!”

All 4 of them stared at each other with looks of hesitation. However, the leader eventually revealed a bitter smile and mumbled, “We’re out of choices anyway. Senior Brother, please help us!”

Their leader quickly emerged from their flying ship before flying over to Shang Xia.

With a look of approval on his face, Shang Xia placed a temporary seal on his dantian before transforming their aura. After all... Transforming one’s aura was someone he was great at.

When his dantian was sealed, the experts of the Azure Oddity World revealed panicked looks. However, they quickly regained their calm when they saw Shang Xia smiling at them without attacking.

“Remember. Do not try to fight with anyone unless you have no choice. The restriction I placed on your dantian isn’t strong and you will be able to shatter it once you circulate your inner qi. The moment it’s broken, your transformed aura will be undone!

Shang Xia continued as he looked at the incredulous looks on their faces. “Of course, even if you guys don’t do anything, the restriction will disappear after 3 days. When that happens, your aura will return to normal.”

“Many thanks, Senior Brother!” Their leader cupped his fists at Shang Xia before returning to the flying ship. He nodded slightly at his fellow cultivators before they went over one by one to accept the aura transformation.

When they returned to their flying ship, Shang Xia thought for a second before tossing the identity token of the Heaven Embroidery Palace over. “Take this. You might be able to use it...”

Those on the flying ship stared at it for some time before snapping back to their senses. “Many thanks, Senior Brother! But... Aren’t you coming with us?”

“No. I have something else to take care of.” Shang Xia chuckled and rejected their offer.

Their junior sister wanted to say something, but she was quickly stopped by their leader. Eventually, the leader spoke in their stead. “Senior Brother, will we be seeing each other in the future?”

“If you manage to escape, head over to Star Origin City. You can look for a guide called Luo Qi and tell him Young Master Shang sent you guys over. Get him to bring you to a person called Huang Yu.” Shang Xia said after thinking for a moment. He felt that all 4 of them were extraordinary experts and so was the dark gold flying ship beneath them. It was possible for them to develop into powerful experts in the future.

It was the reason he didn’t mind helping them. After all, even if they grew stronger in the future, he wouldn’t be the one suffering a loss. Their target of revenge would be the enemies of the Spirit Luxuriant World anyway.

Instead of leaving immediately, the leader gestured at the flying ship and a tiny furnace flew over and landed on his palm. “Senior Brother, I can see that you find it difficult to store the golden flame on your shoulder. You can try keeping it in this furnace. You can consider it a gift for helping us.”

The tiny furnace flew over to Shang Xia as the words left his lips.

Shang Xia was surprised, but he didn’t think that the furnace would be able to store the flame. However, it didn’t seem appropriate to reject a gift like that and he simply reached out to grab it.

Seeing as he had received their gift, they cupped their fists in his direction before turning to leave. Their figures slowly disappeared into the ash cloud again.

Shang Xia didn’t track their presence as he started to play with the tiny furnace in his hand. He felt that the treasure was somewhat interesting.

Refining it quickly with his Five Element Origin, he discovered that the tiny furnace was actually a high-grade artifact!

Opening its lid and pouring some energy into the treasure, he discovered that it started to suck the Sun Gold Flame dancing on his shoulders. Under his shocked gaze, the flame slowly entered the tiny furnace.

Putting the lid back on, Shang Xia felt the furnace getting warmer. However, it seemed to be able to withstand the heat from the flames.

At the very least, he wouldn’t have to drag the flame along with him to attract everyone’s attention.

The wretched cry from the World’s Will arrived for a second time and with Shang Xia’s senses, he could tell that the World Origin Source was already in chaos. World origin was escaping frantically in all directions.

Only then did Shang Xia realize that True Immortal Meng Yuanxiu might have truly met his end. With his death, the only Elysium in the Azure Oddity World finally crumbled. Of course, it wasn’t as though his death caused the destruction of the Elysium. It was more likely that he was the one who destroyed it before dying.

...

Around the same time, the dark gold flying ship appeared in the sea of stars. After handing over their identity token and receiving looks of envy from the experts of other worlds, the 4 of them basically swaggered into the depths of space.

The changes to the Azure Oddity World alarmed the 4 of them, and a profound sense of loss overwhelmed them. The feeling was so suffocating that they found it hard to breathe.

Realizing what had happened, they looked back at the Azure Oddity World. They saw that their world had lost the luster and vitality it once had.

Their junior sister, the youngest among them, finally couldn’t hold it back any longer and asked, “Senior Brother Zhong, do you really believe that guy was a hidden expert from our Azure Oddity World?”

The most mature looking expert who stood at the bow of the flying ship sighed in response, “Let’s just believe him...”

“Oh...” Grunting softly, their junior sister went off to pout at the side.

Glancing at her, Senior Brother Zhong muttered, “Since he helped us to escape, he shouldn’t have any other reason to lie to us. Moreover... With his strength and cultivation level, there is no need for him to lie to us...”

Finally regaining a little spirit, their junior sister continued to ask, “Senior Brother, should we wait for the others who are trying to escape?”

“We can’t even ensure our safety, much less care about others... Don’t forget, that senior said that our transformed aura can only last for 3 days!” Senior Brother Zhong explained after shooting her another glance.

Watching the unconcealed look of disappointment on her face, Senior Brother Zhong sighed helplessly, “Junior Sister, don’t forget, we have the inheritance on us. We have to ensure it doesn’t land in the hands of outsiders.”
