Chapter 2131: How They Got In

After eliminating the spheres of lightning, Shang Xia hurled his Seven Star Mace into the fissure that connected the Star Fields.

The three experts from the Nightmare Sea of Stars who were attempting to cross immediately sent another six spheres of lightning again to prevent Shang Xia from succeeding.

At the moment of collision, all six spheres released silent bolts of lightning that poured into the Seven Star Mace.

However, at that point, Shang Xia had already thrown his mace out like a spear, unleashing his martial intent, the Killing Divine Spear!

It was a clash in which both sides held nothing back. Shang Xia’s Killing Divine Spear targeted the other side’s soul, and the lightning produced by the Nightmare Sea of Stars did the same.

Originally, Shang Xia felt that he had already comprehended the principles behind their lightning, but the instant their strikes clashed, his heart sank.

Oh no!

He realized he had underestimated them.

He had believed he had already found a way to counter the Nightmare Sea of Stars’s experts. The previous battle had confirmed that his soul was strong enough to resist their assault.

However, the six spheres the opponents had separated from their bodies now unleashed a power far greater than whatever they released earlier.

Worse still, they weren’t targeting Shang Xia himself, but his Seven Star Mace.

More precisely, they were attacking the wisp of Shang Xia’s divine soul residing in it!

Although he realized the danger at once, it was already too late to reverse the situation.

With a sharp crack, the Seven Star Mace that had accompanied him since entering the Seven Star Realm, a weapon that surpassed a high-level Divine Artifact, which was a mini replica of the Crimson Soul Tablet in his sea of consciousness, snapped in two!

Shang Xia froze, then a wave of searing pain shot through him. Ignoring the blood spilling from his nostrils, he reached out desperately toward the fissure and managed to seize half of the broken mace.

At the same time, his Killing Divine Spear shattered three of the six mighty lightning spheres they released. The remaining three recoiled in alarm, retreating instantly. Even though only the smaller fragment of the Seven Star Mace was left, the other lightning spheres didn’t make any sudden moves.

Moreover, as Shang Xia retrieved half of the whip, he faintly heard screams echo from the fissure that had been created. A moment later, one of the three Nightmare Sea of Stars’ experts within the passage collapsed, and of the three who had been guarding the other end, two also fell.

Even though Shang Xia was confident in the might of his Killing Divine Spear, he could hardly believe that his martial intent had slain three Sages. Even if they weren’t high-level Sages, it was still unbelievable.

But soon, he noticed that from the bodies of the three fallen Sages, a mass of light emerged from each. The new clusters were larger than any he had seen before, the lightning within them more intense and radiant. Strangely enough, they seemed alive.

Just as Shang Xia confirmed his earlier suspicion, the high-level Sages who lived quickly retreated. They shielded the cluster of light closest to them as if afraid Shang Xia might strike again.

Not only that, the lone surviving expert on the far end of the passage also protected the two clusters that had emerged from his fallen comrades. He stood between Shang Xia and them, keeping a cautious distance. Though he didn’t retreat, he was clearly waiting for the two in the passage to return.

At that moment, Shang Xia couldn’t care less about them. His attention was drawn to the bodies of the three Sages where the cluster of lights emerged, bodies that their comrades abandoned without a second thought.

His heart stirred. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Gesturing into the void, one of the corpses was drawn over without the slightest resistance.

By then, all of the experts from the Nightmare Sea of Stars had withdrawn from the passage. Both sides stood facing each other at either end, neither showing any intention to continue fighting. The Nightmare Sea of Stars’ experts didn’t even seem particularly concerned that Shang Xia had taken one of their comrades’ corpses.

A voice rang out from across the rift eventually. "Who the hell are you?! The Flood Star Region doesn’t have anyone like you!"

The speaker was one of the high-level Sages, whose aura suggested that his strength was not inferior to that of He Jiubin, whom Shang Xia had previously encountered.

Shang Xia’s eyes narrowed slightly at the question, but he didn’t respond before the passage closed, nor was he inclined to.

For at that moment, he sensed a shift in the surrounding void. The sea of clouds that had been scattered by the earlier battle were now surging back, filled with increasingly violent thunder and flashing lightning. Even Shang Xia could feel the tingling on his skin, and at the center of the storm was a terrifying sense of danger.

It was clear that the heart of the Lightning Prison had undergone a massive change. Whether it was a natural occurrence or something triggered by his battle with the experts of the Nightmare Sea of Stars, he could not tell.

What he did know was that he could not linger any longer.

Yet if he withdrew, he wondered if those on the other side would cross over again?

Though this was the Flood Star Region, where any infiltrators would first target the local experts, they were still in the Chaotic Sea of Stars. Letting his enemies pass freely before his eyes went against his principles.

“Forget it. I'd better avoid the lightning for now. At the very least, they won’t dare to force their way through it.”

He had considered destroying the passage altogether. But a channel capable of enduring the collision of two Star Fields that was supported by three Sages that also stood against his assault was not something he could destroy in haste.

Finally, the returning sea of clouds had thickened immensely, dampening his divine soul and placing great pressure on him. The raging lightning roared with the wrath of an ancient beast.

Realizing he could stay no longer, Shang Xia turned and fled toward the direction farthest from the heart of the Lightning Prison.

Before leaving, he couldn’t resist glancing back toward the other end. The experts of the Nightmare Sea of Stars still stood there motionless, as if merely watching him depart.

Letting out a faint sigh of relief, Shang Xia finally looked down at the body he had retrieved. But the moment his eyes fell on it, he froze in shock.

This body... No, this corpse is from the Chaotic Sea of Stars!
