Splitting the Heavens-Chapter 2129: Expert From The Nightmare Sea of Stars
With himself surrounded, Shang Xia could tell that those lightning spheres weren’t the work of a single person.
He thought back to his previous encounter. From start to finish, He Jiubin had only ever released one lightning sphere.
Of course, that had been of exceptionally high quality, perhaps worth five or six ordinary ones. However, the chain before him contained more than 10 of them! Shang Xia refused to believe that a single individual could control so many at once.
Moreover, he had already reached the deepest layer of the Lightning Prison. For him to be ambushed there meant that there were certainly several experts at work, and besides the mysterious experts from the Nightmare Sea of Stars, he did not believe any of the Sages from the Flood Star Region could accomplish such a feat.
But if the ones lying in ambush truly were from the Nightmare Sea of Stars, then why had He Jiubin used the same techniques as them?
By that point, Shang Xia was almost certain that his earlier suspicions had been correct.
However, what mattered most to him at the moment was breaking through the encirclement!
Holding his Seven Star Mace, Shang Xia unleashed Shattered Starry Skies, sending shockwaves through the surrounding sea of clouds as he attempted to smash through the encirclement created by the ten-odd lightning spheres.
His strike was heavy and direct, and he planned to use brute force to break through. It was the greatest use of his deep foundations and mighty inner qi.
The chain of lightning spheres abruptly expanded outward, but they still failed to break apart completely. The links between them held firm, continuing to lock down the void around him.
Even though his first strike failed, Shang Xia showed no frustration. He had never expected to escape the siege of what might be multiple experts of the Nightmare Sea of Stars with a single blow anyway. It was only meant to buy him some time.
Immediately after, his Seven Star Mace lashed out again, and seven brilliant lights flickered along its length like stars, resonating directly with the void and the sea of clouds.
In the next moment, amid the rolling lightning, countless meteors trailed long tails of flame as they fell, each precisely targeting a lightning sphere within the chain.
That was the second move of his Seven Star Mace Technique, Falling Dipper!
However, as the meteors streaked through the clouded void, the lightning that surged within suddenly intensified. From all directions, countless bolts converged toward the descending stars.
Shang Xia let out a cold snort.
With a flick of his mace, tiny points of starlight emerged deep within the sea of clouds, twisting into glowing vortexes of light that drew the descending lightning into themselves.
Even with such quick reflexes, several meteors were still destroyed. The remaining ones struck the lightning spheres, but their power was dispersed among the others. Apart from dimming the glow of several spheres, they still failed to sever the connecting arcs of lightning between them.
“Still can’t force you out of hiding?” Shang Xia muttered, his expression hardening.
No longer hesitating, he reached out into the void and made a grabbing motion.
The void before him shattered, leaving only fragmented clouds. His hand reached for one of the lightning spheres. After several failed attempts to break through, Shang Xia chose the simplest, most direct solution. He would grab the damn spheres!
The instant he caught hold of it, reddish-gold lightning welled up in his palm. As his arm drew back, the chain of lightning spheres was pulled taut as if dragged together, but in the next instant, it rebounded violently. Even though they managed to force themselves out of his control, one sphere had been torn loose by sheer force.
The remaining spheres did not seem particularly disturbed by the loss. Instead, they strengthened their mutual connections, tightening their hold on the surrounding void and gradually eroding Shang Xia’s domain again, as if terrified that he might escape.
At the same time, the sphere in his grip started to push more strange energy into his body. From it, threads of lightning seeped into his mind, and booming thunderclaps exploded within his divine soul.
Too bad Shang Xia was already well-prepared. He no longer found such attacks strange. His Chaos Essence Lightning Palm already possessed a natural resistance to those lightning spheres that targeted a warrior’s divine soul. It was also why he dared to seize them.
As for the thundering echoes that struck his mind, they merely provided extra tempering for his divine soul. The residual energy was promptly absorbed by the Crimson Soul Tablet.
As Shang Xia clenched his fist, reddish-gold lightning surged, tearing the strange lightning sphere apart. The thunderous roars that erupted from his palm sounded disturbingly like screams, and only when the sphere was completely annihilated did the scream-like noise abruptly cease.
That seemed to have finally provoked the remaining lightning spheres.
Those connected together reacted differently, some lunged forward aggressively, others retreated in panic, and a few froze in place, unsure whether to attack or flee, as if frightened by what had just happened.
That only further confirmed Shang Xia’s conclusion. Those 10-odd lightning spheres were being controlled by multiple individuals, not just one.
Knowing that, Shang Xia naturally decided to repeat his tactic. He tore open the void again and reached for another flickering sphere.
This time, the lightning spheres finally responded. The ring that had encircled him suddenly broke apart at one end, and the two broken sections coiled upward along his outstretched arm.
Shang Xia’s counter was just as fast. The hand that had been reaching for a lightning sphere suddenly opened wide and pressed downward. Reddish-gold lightning burst from his palm, shooting toward seven or eight spheres at once.
Upon impact, the divine lightning detonated the essence within each sphere, and they exploded like a string of firecrackers. Accompanied by those eerie, scream-like thunderclaps, the chaotic sea of clouds grew even more violent.
By then, nearly a third of the lightning spheres had been obliterated. The rest were still connected, but their formation had completely lost its strength.
If Shang Xia had wished, he could have escaped the encirclement at any moment.
However, he refused to leave without discovering who had ambushed him from the shadows. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
As the remaining lightning spheres began to withdraw, Shang Xia stepped forward instead. His inner qi surged through his body, transforming as he swung his hand downward like a blade. The void it passed through twisted and warped as if eons had flowed by in an instant.
That was his fourth martial intent, the Four Constellation Samsara Blade!
