Splitting the Heavens-Chapter 2112: Please, Save Us
“Sage Shang, please, save my Essence Mu World!” The moment Mei Jingya saw Shang Xia, she bowed deeply before him without hesitation.
Shang Xia looked toward the ravaged Essence Mu World. Though he had not yet entered it, the world itself had already suffered heavy corrosion from the void currents. Its heavenly screen was severely damaged, and even portions of the World Origin Source had begun to grind against the two Star Fields.
He had been swept away earlier, and because the Essence Mu World had been sinking into the origin of the void currents, the Sages of the Flood Star Region failed to notice his presence as he returned.
“How do you think I can save you?” As Shang Xia spoke, his body trembled slightly, expelling the remnants of the foreign energy from the void currents that had invaded his body.
Mei Jingya bit her lip as she looked at him, who was faintly shimmering with starlight. Seeing the look on Shang Xia’s face as if he didn’t care about anything, she bit her lips and mumbled, “Sage Shang... Is it possible to do what the Star Origin Lord did and...”
“No.” Before she could finish, Shang Xia interrupted her. Raising his eyebrows slightly, he didn’t even bother explaining his reply.
When the Star Origin Lord had carried away the Essence Zhen World following the collapse of their Heavenly Field, it wasn’t just because he was powerful and no one could do a thing to him. It was because he had the cooperation of many experts from the Gathered Sea of Stars, diverting the attention of the Sages of the Flood Star Region.
Furthermore, all cultivators beneath the Martial Emptiness Realm in the Essence Zhen World had united their efforts and fully trusted the Star Origin Lord’s plan, another crucial factor in that success.
Shang Xia’s understanding of the void currents could not compare to that of the cunning old fox who lived for 1,000 years. He had no relations with the experts in the Gathered Sea of Stars and was even viewed as a mortal enemy by every Sage Flood Star Region.
More importantly, when Shang Xia had emerged from the void currents, his divine soul had already swept through the Essence Mu World. He knew that Mei Jingya had prepared herself for the outcome long before, and her plea was merely a desperate last attempt.
He saw no reason to be polite.
After being cut off, Mei Jingya fell silent for a moment. Yet with every passing breath, the Essence Mu World continued to sink deeper into the chaos between both Star Fields. She had no time left to hesitate.
Suppressing all emotion, she asked in a steady voice, “Sage Shang, what will it take for you to help my Essence Mu World?”
Shang Xia frowned and answered flatly, “Do you understand the dangers involved in me doing so?”
“Of course.” Mei Jingya nodded before she continued in a grave tone, “The experts from both the Gathered Sea of Stars and the Flood Star Region are watching closely. If my world receives help, or if I even attempt to save my world, we will immediately be attacked by Sages of both sides.”
Shang Xia gestured first to her, then to himself. “You said it yourself. With the two of us against dozens of Sages... What chances do we have of success? Besides...”
He paused briefly before he continued, “There’s an even more important question. Why should I help you at all?”
Mei Jingya’s gaze didn’t waver as she looked at him. “How many continents does your world possess? Have any of them reached a state of perfection?”
Shang Xia raised a brow, then shook his head. “You intend to destroy your world and split it up? My Essence Luxuriant World may have 34 continents now and none of them are at a state of perfection, but we got to this point in less than a century. Along the way, we absorbed and fused countless fragments from other worlds. We desperately need time to digest our gains and stabilize our foundations.”
“Besides, your Essence Mu World is an independent Essence World of excellent growth. Your World’s Will is extremely strong. Even if you succeed in breaking it up, the residual World’s Will will remain powerful. Integrating it might bring no benefit to my world.”
“And I doubt you plan to cut away just one or two continents from your Essence Mu World, do you?”
Her face turned pale. “You already know?”
Shang Xia smiled faintly. “Your Essence Mu World is full of holes right now, of course, I can see it. But forgive my bluntness, do you really think the Sages of your Star Region will be unaware of what you intend to do?”
Yet Mei Jingya seemed unfazed by his warning. “If merging with your world is impossible, then... What about becoming an Auxiliary Spirit World instead? Surely your Heavenly Field isn’t so strong that you can ignore an auxiliary world?”
Shang Xia chuckled. “An auxiliary Spirit World? Will you truly be content with that? What condition comes with your offer?”
Mei Jingya smiled back. “It seems Sage Shang truly does have the ability to help my Essence Mu World. But first, perhaps you should name your price. What will convince you to make a move?”
Shang Xia replied frankly, “To be honest, at our level, is there really something that can tempt either of us anymore? So, let’s see what you can offer. As for this talk of becoming an auxiliary Spirit World... Save it. Nothing is worth discussing until success is certain.”
Mei Jingya fell silent again, but only briefly. Then, as if she recalled something, she said, “I may know of a clue related to ascending to the Martial Eternity Realm.”
“Oh?” Shang Xia looked at her with mild surprise. “What clue? And how did you come by it?”
Mei Jingya smiled faintly and countered, “If the clue is real, then...”
Shang Xia shot her a wry look. “And how would you know whether I can tell if it’s genuine?”
She froze at that. There were no confirmed inheritances within the Chaotic Sea of Stars regarding ascension to the Eighth Order. Not even the Star Origin Lord, after a millennium of trials, had succeeded.
Under such circumstances, no one could be certain whether any supposed clue was authentic. All that existed were speculations.
Seeing her rendered speechless again, Shang Xia sighed, “You might as well tell me the clue you know now.”
Others might not be able to judge the veracity of such information, but Shang Xia was the exception.
Of course, what allowed him to make that judgment, or rather, what he could rely on, was the Crimson Soul Tablet’s deductions based on his cultivation.
Though the tablet’s only responded to the special origin qi from the other Star Fields at the moment, if Mei Jingya’s clue truly proved relevant to him, it would certainly respond.
