Splitting the Heavens-Chapter 2067: Beat Down Baby
Shang Xia wanted to preserve the tunnel he had opened and reinforced, so he could continue drawing the special energy from within the Desolate Forbidden Region, or at least prolong the time he could do so.
Earlier, Lu Xin and Xin Zhi had not immediately responded to Shang Xia’s suggestion because they were wavering.
Unlike the other Sages, they clearly knew more about the hidden secrets in the Desolate Forbidden Region, such as the chance to extend one’s lifespan.
But the rest of their Sages thought differently. Their top priority was ending the Beast Tides ravaging their Heavenly Fields.
Exploring the interior could only come once those threats were removed. To do that, they needed to sever all direct links between the Floating Star Region and the Taming Star Field, cutting off any control the Taming Star Field had over the Beast Tides.
Thus, they firmly pressed for destroying the passage.
At that moment, Lu Xin and Xin Zhi seemed to make up their minds. Xin Zhi spoke first. “Sages Zhu Ran and Chen Hu are right. This passage cannot remain. If we keep it, someone would need to guard it permanently.”
Lu Xin added, “Sage Shang, summon your companion back before it’s too late. If he goes further, he may never return.”
Shang Xia only smiled and shook his head. “His lifespan is nearly spent. He entered willingly, seeking his fortune. He will not return anytime soon.”
The Sages of the Floating Star Region were stunned. Some hid other emotions behind their expressions, but some were genuinely shocked, shocked that the interior still offered the chance of prolonging life.
Zhu Ran immediately said, “If that’s the case, then let’s waste no time, destroy this passage!”
Others prepared to strike.
But Shang Xia suddenly laughed. “There’s no need. Our enemies will destroy it themselves.”
Before the others could respond, Lu Xin and Xin Zhi both yelled in unison, “Be careful, the experts of the Taming Star Field are approaching!”
Shang Xia chuckled. “So it’s true. They’ve already connected the passages inside the Desolate Forbidden Region. It’s their territory now...”
Lu Xin and Xin Zhi’s expressions darkened.
Zhu Ran barked, “Then destroy it now! What are you waiting for?”
Several Sages rushed forward.
With the smile still on his face, Shang Xia chuckled, “No need. Like I said, they’ll destroy it for us.”
The others were bewildered. Chen Hu hesitated while Zhu Ran scoffed.
Then reality struck. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Even before the experts of the Taming Star Field appeared, waves of terrifying energy rushed toward the passage from multiple directions.
Everyone’s faces changed.
“This aura is familiar...”
“It’s him, the one we fought at the northwest breach!”
“And another as well...”
“They really can move freely inside?”
“Sage Shang already told us so...”
As no one outside took measures to stabilize the tunnel, the joint attacks of multiple experts of the Taming Star Field from within quickly brought it crashing down.
Shang Xia sighed softly, forced to stop drawing the strange energy.
The next second, Lu Xin and Xin Zhi turned to stare at him. Clearly, they had long noticed his actions.
He was not surprised. Instead, he muttered, “Would you be interested in capturing one alive?”
They gave no reply.
Chen Hu frowned and blurted, “Impossible! Across the tangled restrictions? Unless you mean to dive in? Not to mention, they have help!”
“Why dive in?” Shang Xia laughed, then tossed his Seven Star Mace into the collapsing passage.
At once, the lingering starlight around the entrance poured after it. A ripple of space flared, and suddenly, a dazed figure appeared above the passage, still stunned at the change of surroundings.
“Grab him!”
“Don’t let him escape!”
Xin Zhi and Lu Xin yelled at the same time, striking immediately. They didn’t even stop to ask Shang Xia how he had done it.
The other Sages also recognized the newcomer and joined in. The expert of the Taming Star Field, though shocked, tried to flee back into the half-collapsed passage.
But Xin Zhi and Lu Xin’s attacks drove him away, forcing him deeper into their encirclement.
With that, the siege began.
Shang Xia, after dragging him out, no longer joined in.
What drew his interest was the man’s appearance. He had several beast-like traits, enough to make him wonder if he was a Beast Warrior.
Yet the Sages of the Floating Star Region clearly distinguished him from Beast Warriors.
It seemed like the experts of the Taming Star Field, though animalistic, were fundamentally different from Beast Warriors, and the experts of the Floating Star Region knew the difference well.
The captive struggled fiercely, but he was already drained by his battle with Wanggui, further weakened by Shang Xia’s strike that had stolen years of life from him.
Surrounded by two high-level Sages and several mid-level Sages, he was completely spent.
Only because they sought to capture him alive did he still struggle.
But it was futile. Capture was only a matter of time, unless he chose suicide.
By the time the passage collapsed completely, he had been beaten down, his dantian sealed, and was finally taken alive.
