Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 111—Fully Edited
Cole forced his body to move as fast as he could to stop Micheal from swallowing that crystal.
While he moved, his heart raced with deep urgency as questions arose in his mind.
"Why would he do such a thing so fast?" Cole thought.
"I have only landed one attack; it isn’t like the battle has ended."
Despite moving the instant he felt something was wrong, Cole was still unable to get to that place in time.
Micheal had successfully slid the crystal down his throat.
"Ohh damn," Cole thought as he readied himself for anything that was to come.
But the intense burst of dark energy that Cole expected didn’t happen; instead, Michael slowly sat up as the charred-earth armor around him fell off slowly.
"You know what, Cole Bremont? I always knew you were dangerous."
"There’s just no taking chances with you."
"And that’s exactly why I won’t be."
"I am going to come at you with all the strength I have and make sure you die before you can enact any more of your stupid skin."
The longer he spoke, the more Cole realized the severity of the situation; dark tendrils already completely covered eyes, making them extremely dark.
Cole could even see his veins bulging with dark energy flowing through them.
Micheal looked more like a monster now than anything Cole has ever seen, and the change still seems to be occurring.
"I have to thank you, Cole Bremont. If you hadn’t taken most of the energy out of this crystal, leaving just this shell, I wouldn’t be able to take it in like this."
"Take most of the energy?" Cole thought.
"But I haven’t done anything to the crystal. What’s he talking about?"
Cole looked completely confused, and even Micheal could notice it.
"Forget the chitchat and let’s finish what we started," Micheal shouted.
He kicked his feet off the ground, shattering the earth beneath him.
Cole’s eyes widened as he noticed Micheal approaching him extremely swiftly like a bullet.
The attack was aimed directly at his head, leaving no room for escape.
"Damn, I really need to get this thing as soon as possible."
Michael’s attacks were now mostly pinpoint; they were aimed directly at a specific spot, thus making dodging easier when fast enough.
Cole needed to change, and he needs it very fast. So he made a split-second decision.
"I will try doing this now; the pressure might help me," Cole thought.
With that, Cole began his mid-battle training session. Michael attacked with increasing ferocity.
Attacks aimed at lethal points all over his body. But every single time Cole was able to dodge them by a close shave.
The attacks just kept passing him by slowly.
While Cole moved, his mind was also accelerating; he was taking in every detail.
All the information he could glean, combining them all and refining them.
Things were much easier since the lightning coat improved his thinking speed and reflexes.
The longer the barrage went on, the easier things got for Cole. He had begun minutely accelerating different parts of his body.
He even observed Michael’s movements, the acceleration of his body when he was about to attack.
All of this knowledge was being absorbed and refined by Cole.
Then, it clicked.
Everything was finally set; I think I can try to use this feature now. Cole thought to himself.
But he was locked down by Micheal; there wasn’t anything he could do now.
"I need to get out of here," Cole thought.
The moment he saw a small opening in Michael’s form, he activated Kinetic Acceleration and sprang forward, leaving the range of Michael’s attack.
Cole looked back in the direction of his teammates while thinking,
"I will be back, guys."
Then he straightened his body and bolted away, searching for a specific location.
"I need a hatch,"
He moved through that road, scanning all around him while trying to find a hatch with Michael hot on his tail.
In no time, Cole found a hatch leading to the underground and rushed straight towards it.
Michael then realized his intentions, and a small frown formed on his face.
Cole arrived in front of the hatch and opened it before directly jumping in, not bothering to climb down.
Cole landed roughly, but still, he immediately sprinted forward towards an intersection.
Cole intentionally chose this place since it had so many intersections and corners that can serve as temporary hiding spots.
In a while of running, Cole finally found the right spot to use. It is a small area that is separated from other parts of the underground paths.
As quietly as he could, Cole squeezed into that corner and sat in a cross-legged position.
"I really hope the Codex responds," Cole thought.
He willed it in himself, and thankfully, he slowly saw the codex appear in front of him.
"Let’s begin then."
Cole mentally willed the activation of the feature of the codex while its page flipped to the one containing Kinetic Acceleration.
Summoning all his new knowledge and understanding of Kinetic Acceleration, Cole observed the fluid-like text on the page morphing and changing orientation.
That wasn’t all; some texts disappeared while new ones reappeared to replace them.
Cole watched all of this process go on while his Life energy was being slowly drained.
But it didn’t take long before the process completely ended. Cole could now feel the change in the ability usage.
"Damn, after a long week of trying, I have finally fully edited this."
"Then it is time to finish what we started," he said in confidence.
Cole struggled out of his temporary hiding spot back into the real underground.
He knew Micheal was close by, so he didn’t actually need to find him.
"I will just wait for him here,"
After making that decision, Cole sat down again and began cultivating to regain his lost Life energy.
Despite Cultivating, Cole didn’t stop paying attention; he remained extremely vigilant of his surroundings.
And the moment he heard Michael’s footsteps getting close enough, he stopped his cultivation and rose to his feet.
"Time for the final showdown,"
