The air crackled, thick with the scent of ozone and burnt flesh. The initial barrage of plasma had vaporized the leading serpentine creature, a grotesque amalgamation of scales and fangs, but the rest surged forward, their roars a cacophony of primal fury. The very earth trembled beneath their advance.

"Stop them!" Protean's command was a desperate plea, but before he or Dolor could react, a figure descended, landing with the force of a meteor.

***You aren't going anywhere.*** Hades's voice, usually a low, resonant murmur, now reverberated with an unnerving power.

Protean and Dolor exchanged wary glances. "What makes you think you alone can stop us?" Protean challenged.

A wave of raw energy erupted from Hades, a tangible force that whipped the air and sent dust swirling. His eyes glowed with an infernal red, and from the depths of his being, a transformation began. Black armor, shimmering like polished obsidian, coalesced around his form, followed by a dark, swirling cape. Finally, a helm materialized, its two eye slits burning with an intense, fiery light. In his grasp, a massive broadsword, wreathed in flames, pulsed with malevolent energy.

"It seems someone is serious," Protean remarked, a thin smile playing on his lips.

"Come on, let's end this quickly and move to the wall." Dolor spun his sword, a blade that seemed to drink the surrounding light, and charged. Protean followed close behind.

***Fools!***

Hades's voice echoed, distorted by the helm. He vanished, a blur of motion.

"This?!" Dolor halted, his face a mask of surprise. "I can't detect him."

"What a bastard! If you're so good, why are you hiding?" Dolor roared, his voice laced with frustration.

A sudden, chilling premonition washed over Dolor. He whirled around, his sword arcing through the air.

CLANG!

The sound of steel meeting steel rang out, a sharp, metallic clang that vibrated through the air. Dolor stumbled backward, regaining his footing.

"You!" he snarled, his teeth clenched.

***Impressive.*** Hades's voice seemed to emanate from everywhere at once. The serpentine creatures, meanwhile, surged past the unseen battle, their attention fixed on the city walls. Only Modena and the Hell demons remained engaged with the horde.

"We need to do something fast," Dolor whispered.

Protean nodded, his eyes narrowed. "Hades is the god of the underworld. Let's use an entity of the underworld against him."

"Uh?" Dolor was confused.

CRACK!

Protean's bones shifted and reshaped, a grotesque metamorphosis unfolding before Dolor's eyes. Four additional limbs burst from his body, joining the original two. One was a griffin's taloned hand, another a skeletal limb, a third an ogre's massive fist, the fourth an undead's decaying hand, the fifth a wraith's spectral appendage, and the sixth a wolf's paw, tipped with razor-sharp claws. His body contorted, a patchwork of disparate creatures, forming a towering, eight-foot-tall monstrosity.

"GRRRAAAAAAAAA!"

The roar was a guttural, demonic bellow.

"I should have known you were planning on using this form," Dolor sighed.

"Hey! What's wrong with this?" Protean's voice was now a deep, guttural growl.

***You dare ignore me!*** Hades's voice thundered, his patience snapping. He had watched the transformation, expecting a challenge, not a conversation.

"Shut up!" Protean unleashed a torrent of crimson energy, a devastating blast that ripped through the ranks of the serpentine creatures.

Hades leaped aside, landing gracefully. He watched the energy dissipate, leaving a trail of ash and shattered scales.

***What a skill.*** He turned back to Protean and Dolor.

"Okay, Hades, or whatever you're called... Time to get serious." Protean's eyes glowed, and with blinding speed, he closed the distance, his six limbs smashing into Hades.

BAM!

Hades was forced back, the impact sending shockwaves through the ground. He looked at his sword, then back at Protean.

***I really underestimated you two! You said it, let's have a good fight!***

A wave of crimson divinity erupted from him, enveloping his form. ***Die!*** He charged.

"We'll see who falls today!" Dolor roared, joining Protean in the assault. The three clashed, a whirlwind of steel and supernatural power, their battle a devastating dance of destruction that decimated the surrounding serpentine creatures, and monsters.

Erika watched as the remaining serpentine creatures reached the wall, their massive forms slamming against the energy barrier.

"Hold on!" she commanded, her voice calm and steady. The defenders braced themselves as the creatures crashed against the shimmering shield, only to be thrown back.

They regrouped and attacked again, their relentless assault testing the barrier's limits.

"How many in-game diamonds did you get this?" Erika asked Commander Wang, her gaze fixed on the approaching horde.

"One billion," he replied, adding, "If I had known, I should have waited for everything to be free."

"No worries. Thanks to AI and our allies, we will survive this." Erika raised her right hand. Commander Wang turned to Joker, then back to her.

"Mrs. Michael, now?"

Erika's gaze remained fixed on the creatures. "Send half of them to the city."

"Uh?" Commander Wang and Joker were stunned.

"Keep the soldiers here, just send the second force to the city, trust me." she repeated.

Commander Wang hesitated, then nodded. "I trust you." He pulled out his phone and made a call.

Moments later, the ground trembled with the sound of heavy marching. Thousands of automated defense units, unleashed by the AI, surged towards the city, their movements precise and relentless.

"Thank goodness AI made everything free," Erika muttered.

While the battle raged at the walls, the ground in the heart of Amerisa cracked open. A massive serpentine creature erupted from the earth, its roar echoing through the city streets.

**GRRRAAAAAA!**

The creature, larger and more grotesque than those at the wall, roared, its scales shimmering with an unnatural luminescence, and it's eyes glowing with an inner fire.

The pets all turned to the distance, and charge towards the monster.

This single creature was a new kind of threat, a breach in the city, that Erika had already foreseen. The creature was not simply a mindless beast, it had a purpose, to draw the automated defences away from the other threats, but was in for a surprise.
