Sold to the Capo-Chapter 74: A CONFIDENTIAL PIECE
VINCENZO’S POV
I walked out of the room with my men, leaving Damon inside his room to continue packing up as he said that he had somewhere to be with his sister.
He had done his part after all, and even though I was tempted to kill him for being a part of the people who had a hand in this, I knew that it would be wrong to take that little girl’s only family away.
Matteo immediately caught up to me, his hands in his pockets as he nodded to me. "I see you got him"
Looking back in the direction of the hallway that I had just walked out from, I shrugged. "Yeah, I did get him. Thank you for your services" I said, my voice low as I was still thinking.
"I did my end of the deal." He suddenly frowned, and I scowled in return. "What do you want then?"
As he noticed my scowl, his face softened almost involuntarily, like he was afraid to anger me, before he sighed. "You made me a deal if I would be able to get my hands on him for you, and I just did, yet I’m not hearing anything about it from you," He whispered, his voice low.
I thought back to what he was saying and almost sighed out loud in frustration. "Are you talking about the Saint Ricardo casino?"
"Yes, as what you said. Do I now get ownership?"
"I’ll look into it and make sure it’s dispensable just as I said also," I replied coldly.
"Do we need to go through all this long process when you can simply hand me the papers?" He asked, his tone very impatient.
"I’ll get back to you, Matteo" I gruffly said, walking out of the bar and into the cool afternoon air.
I looked back at Keiran, who was already standing behind me, and I sighed. "What the man said stays with this group, everyone understands?" I ordered the small group of men with me.
They all nodded, their faces stoic. "Yes sir"
"Good, let’s head back" I muttered.
I still couldn’t stop thinking about the things Damon had said. Firstly, the Bratva, what was the Bratva doing in Italy, and what did they want with my family? I had been acquainted with them in the past so could it be that they came here for revenge?
Nothing could be erased as a possibility at this point, so I wasn’t going to rule anything out that easily.
Also, the blue-eyed person he had talked about. My mind went back to the possibilities again and I frowned. It could also be that it was a lie tailored to throw me off the real track here, but I had already begun to suspect one of them earlier than this, so I also couldn’t rule that out.
As I got to the mansion again, I walked briskly, ready to go inside to think about this new piece of information, but then, of course, I just had to bump into Henry, who looked tired.
"Don Enzo" He bowed.
"What do you want? Where were you?" I said bluntly.
"Since it wasn’t looked into, I decided to take on the case of our boys who got arrested, that’s it. I have been up and about since to try to get it under control before a search warrant is permitted by the court"
Right of course, how could I forget something that important?
"You’re right; we can’t have cops roaming about the property, so how far along have you gone?" I asked.
I had started walking forward again and he was walking beside me, his face impassive and I kept sending him side glances trying to see what had changed inside him, maybe there was something that I was not getting about his behavior yet?
But nothing. He wasn’t showing any weird signs again and now he just seemed tired and fed up with a lot of stuff.
"It’s pretty tough but I’m speaking to the head and I’m hoping I can get him to do something about that for them"
All of these boys were the cause of this so I said the next thing instinctively. "Lay them off immediately after they’re back," I ordered.
"Of course, that will be done; we can’t afford mistakes like that again. Also, I did want to ask you something," He suddenly said as I got close to the house.
"What?" I looked back at him.
"The new Haven... you’re changing the location?"
"Why does that matter to you?" I immediately frowned as I stared at him. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
He raised his hand in surrender, his voice low so that only I could hear him. "The Garots who still have family and friends there want to know if they’re safe. They don’t want a repeat of Gamma’s Haven. If anything happens now, the ranks will go into chaos, and you know that, right? You’ll lose trusted men because they’ll feel threatened." He explained and I listened to him carefully.
"I think I know what you mean..." I simply said when he was done talking.
"You promised that you would get the person who did it the first time, it’s been months and they’re whispering, wondering if you’re even doing anything about it. They’re loyal, yes but you’re not particularly striving to keep it that way" He muttered under his breath.
He was right in a way, but in a way, I knew what I was doing; I had thought everything out. I knew why I shut the Garots out this time and focused on just the Cavalieri.
"I have it under control as always. The location of the haven will not be compromised which is why it will be kept confidential at all times. No one is going to be told. Final" I said matter of factly before entering the house, leaving him standing at the door.
I couldn’t afford another attack on the Haven. Things had to become strictly confidential now.
