Sold as the Alpha King's Breeder-Chapter 1586 - 28 : Overshadowed by Ecstasy
*Briella*
I awoke the next morning completely bathed in warmth. I blinked once before snuggling deeper into the cozy cocoon I was encased in. It was still pretty early judging by how dimly lit my bedroom was. I felt a bit of stiffness in my limbs and shifted to try and roll over onto my other side but found myself trapped.
My eyes popped open when I realized that I wasn’t alone in my bed. I immediately relaxed as the memories of the previous night with Kryzen came flooding back. I shivered with delight as I recalled the way he held me and my name sounded on his lips.
I was amazed that he didn’t wake up as I moved in his strong arms and pushed myself up onto my forearms so that I could look at his face.
I didn’t imagine Kryzen Stormfall to be a light sleeper, but I found myself grateful that he was as I gazed at his peaceful slumbering face. His dark lashes were long and brushed his defined cheekbones.
I shook my head internally as I thought about how long I had been suppressing my attraction to him. He drove me crazy for so many years, but I could no longer deny how much I cared about him.
He was brave and overwhelmingly stubborn, traits that I had been said to have myself, but he wore them differently. He was much more controlled than I was, his cool calculating mind capable of finding ways out of seemingly any obstacle.
And yet, I had made him lose control last night. The thought had me wondering if I could do so again this morning.
With that thought in mind, I pushed myself up high so that my chest was against his. He stirred slightly at my weight on top of him. I stretched my neck so I could kiss his soft but firm lips lightly.
His eyes opened, and the stormy gray color nearly left me breathless as I gazed down at him. He grinned boyishly at me when he focused on me. His arms, which had fallen to his sides, rose back up to wrap around my waist, tugging me more snugly against his chest.
“Good morning,” he said in a low voice that immediately had my cheeks heating up.
“Good morning yourself,” I murmured back. I felt myself stiffening slightly in his hold, suddenly shy now that he was awake.
I wondered if the memories had flooded back into his mind the same way they had in mine. Judging from his smile, he seemed relaxed and in a similar dreamy daze that I was in. He was grinning kind of crookedly at me and studying my face through his sleepy haze as if trying to read my thoughts.
“Is something wrong?” he asked, tilting his head slightly, his arms tightening around my waist. There was the tiniest tilt to his mouth, hinting at a smirk.
I clenched my teeth together, feeling my face flush further with embarrassment. The jerk could tell that I was feeling shy and was probably enjoying it, the sadist that he likely was.
And just like that, I was remembering another part of the night that had previously been overshadowed by the ecstasy of having Kryzen inside of me. I recalled the power struggle that remained between us, even as we were intertwined with each other.
I put my hands against his chest, preparing to push myself off of him. “Just remembering how insufferable you are.”
It was clear Kryzen knew exactly what I was talking about. Instead of his face showing confusion and dismay like I had hoped, his smirk just widened. “You didn’t seem to mind my insufferable jerk self much last night,” he quipped, one of his strong hands sliding lower to my hip.
I tried to keep my face passive, even though my breathing was quickening. “Only because you were doing an incredibly great job of distracting me from it.”
He chuckled, sounding pleased by the way I admitted to enjoying myself the previous night. His low voice became a little husky, and one of his hands came up to cradle my face. “You didn’t distract me at all last night,” he rumbled, stroking my cheek lightly with his fingers. “I was completely focused on you.”
My jaw dropped as I sucked in a sharp breath at Kryzen’s words. I scanned his face quickly but found no sense of mocking in them. Even his signature smirk was gone, his gray eyes serious as he stared at me.
I cleared my throat. The sound was embarrassing even to my ears. I moved to get up. “We should probably get dressed and ready to start the day.”
In less than a second, Kryzen’s arms were around my waist again. He pulled me tightly against his chest, his chin resting on my hair. “What if I’m not ready to?” he asked, his deep voice rough.
I hoped he couldn’t feel the way my heart stuttered at the contact, but I had a sinking feeling he did since I was pressed so tightly against him. “Then I would say too bad,” I said, proud of myself for keeping my voice steady. “Or do I need to remind you that we have a whole civilization that is in danger?”
Kryzen rolled his eyes as if I was being melodramatic. “Fair point, Black,” he said. He didn’t loosen his hold on me though. “First, I’d like a kiss.”
I gritted my teeth together and narrowed my eyes. There it was again, the power struggle that didn’t seem to want to go away. “No.”
Kryzen’s thick eyebrows rose. “Then I guess we aren’t going to be starting the day just yet.”
I scoffed. “And I guess the insufferable jerk is still reigning supreme,” I quipped back.
Kryzen was about to say something else when my bedroom door flew open, revealing Drius standing in the doorway, dark bags beneath his hazel eyes. When those orbs focused on us, they widened, and his jaw clenched.
I blinked for a second before I recognized the look, the absolute rage that burned in his eyes. I pushed myself up off of Kryzen, only very slightly relieved when he dropped his arms from around me. “Drius, don’t–”
A growl dropped from my best friend’s mouth as he lunged toward the bed, looking ready to throw a fist into Kryzen’s face. I leaped up from the bed, grabbing Drius’ raised fist and shoving him away.
“Drius,” I snapped, getting right in his face and forcing him to look at me and not at Kryzen, who was scrambling out of my bed. “Stop. Kryzen didn’t hurt me. I’m fine.”
“Oh, that much is obvious,” Drius said darkly, his eyes almost wild as he looked down at me. “Where have you been, Bri? I checked your room last night, and you were nowhere to be found. I was out half the night searching for you.”
I didn’t like the fact that he was yelling at me, but I could tell how worried and distraught he had been. It was written all over his exhausted face. It was clear he hadn’t slept at all the past night. “You didn’t have to do that,” I told him gently. “I can take care of myself, Drius. I promise.”
Drius didn’t look at all convinced. “You know this city isn’t safe with those creatures still out there. Of course, I’m going to worry about you.”
I opened my mouth to respond when Kryzen suddenly appeared between us. He glowered at Drius and put his arm out in front of me as if to shield me. The way he moved his body was as if he was trying to cover me up. I looked down at myself. My face flamed when I realized that I was mostly naked, save for my black bra and matching panties.
Drius noticed for the first time as well and gaped at me, his eyes nearly popping out of his head.
Kryzen’s tone was deadly. “Get out.”
Drius stared at Kryzen with just a touch of fear, but then he gritted his teeth and straightened, not taking his eyes off of Kryzen when he spoke to me. “Briella, step away from him.”
I gaped at him in complete disbelief. “You have no right to tell me what to do, Drius,” I said firmly, feeling rage building up inside of me. “You might be like a brother to me, but you most definitely are not the boss of me.”
Drius’ expression was cool and calm as he raised an eyebrow at me. “Actually, I am under your father’s orders to protect you, so it would be very wise of you to do as I say.”
I stared at him in shock before stepping around Kryzen to get right in Drius’ face. I was about to start shouting when Kryzen grabbed my wrist as if to pull me back. “Stay out of this,” I snapped at him so sharply that he actually listened to me and dropped his hand. He didn’t step away from us though, his stance threatening.
I turned to face Drius and narrowed my eyes up at him. “I appreciate you being here, Drius, I really do, but I am getting sick of your overprotectiveness. I can sleep with whoever I want.”
Drius winced at my choice of words as if he had secretly been hoping Kryzen and I really hadn’t slept together, even though the clues were glaringly obvious.
He really was like a protective older brother.
Roy chose that moment to rush into the room, his eyes wide with concern. He scanned the room in alarm, looking ready to fight, but his stance relaxed as he took in the scene. He met Kryzen’s gaze. I thought I saw him smirk slightly, but it was gone before I could be sure.
“Is everything alright?” he asked. “What is going on?”
“Everything’s fine,” I assured him but stepped behind Kryzen slightly, suddenly very shy in front of the prince’s gaze in nothing but my underwear.
Kryzen glanced at me. He then glowered first at his friend and then at Drius. “Both of you, out,” he ordered the other two men. “We need to get dressed. You’ve both ogled her enough.”
Roy put his hands up in surrender, a slight smirk on his face before he turned to go.
Drius stood his ground, glaring between us. “I’m not leaving you alone with him,” he said firmly to me.
“Go, Drius,” I hissed at him, my patience completely gone.
Drius knew me well enough to know that I was extremely stubborn and wouldn’t budge at the moment. With one more warning glare at Kryzen, he followed Roy out of the room.
Kryzen crossed the room and kicked the door shut, his jaw clenched tightly.
Despite the whole annoying situation, I smirked in his direction. “Still not a fan of Drius are you?” I asked teasingly, hating that his jealousy was stirring something pleasant inside of me.
Kryzen pulled on a dark t-shirt before rolling his eyes in my direction. “You currently don’t seem to be his number one fan at the moment either, even though that bastard is supposedly your best friend.”
I sighed angrily at the reminder, deciding that as soon as I was done getting dressed, I was going to have to pummel my best friend.
