Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Marriage Certificate Delivered by Express

Life seemed to have played a huge joke on Evelyn. After finally finding her big brother, she discovered that he already had someone in his heart.

These past two days, she and Logan Shaw hadn’t been in touch. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

She thought to herself, surely he took the bracelet she picked out to delight another girl!

If she’d known, she would have chosen an exceptionally ugly one, so the girl would despise it!

However, it wasn’t certain that he was giving the bracelet to his heart’s desire!

She still had a tiny glimmer of hope to cling to!

With a bitter smile curling on her lips, Evelyn lay on the bed. It was the weekend, and she could rest well. Her uncle was kind enough to give her a day off, allowing her to stay at home.

Weekend?

Day off?

Her mind, for some reason, suddenly raced, recalling what Eleanor Keaton had said: This weekend, Brother Caden and I will finalize the marriage plans!

Her uncle intentionally gave her a weekend off; could he be discussing the marriage plans with Eleanor?

Once her uncle marries Eleanor, what would become of her?

If Eleanor became the mistress of the house, she would surely be tormented to death, wouldn’t she?

Yet her uncle always denied it!

He wouldn’t let her resign either!

With a deep sigh, the unemployed Evelyn was bored at home. Weekends were when Cecilia Lynch was busiest, leaving no one to accompany her.

She flipped through her phone and saw Logan Shaw’s number, and time seemed to freeze.

She wanted to call him so badly, to subtly ask if he had given away the gift.

But instead of receiving news that might make her sad, perhaps it’s better not to know anything at all.

While she was on the verge of boredom, the doorbell rang.

Aunt May was out playing cards in the afternoon, not home. Evelyn went to open the door; it was the delivery man.

"Excuse me, are you Miss Evelyn Morgan? This is your parcel. Please sign for it," the delivery man said, handing over a small box.

"Parcel?" Evelyn was puzzled. "I haven’t bought anything online lately!"

"It’s a local courier. The sender is ’Uncle,’" the delivery man whispered.

Uncle?

After signing at the recipient section and closing the door, Evelyn returned to her bedroom, puzzled about what her uncle might have sent her.

They saw each other every day; what couldn’t be handed over in person, requiring it to be mailed?

Could it be he was playing a trick, sending something to scare her?

Thinking about this, Evelyn became more cautious.

Using scissors, she carefully cut open the package’s tape and found another square box inside.

What was this item?

Her curiosity intensified, hastening her pace to unpack.

Upon opening the box, she saw a little red book imprinted with big characters: Marriage Certificate.

Her heart suddenly raced. Quickly flipping through the book, the first thing she saw was a photo of her and Caden Lockwood.

It was the photo taken at his house a few days ago, but the background had turned red, and they were smiling brightly.

Her eyes stiffly moved downward, noting the registration date was today.

And finally, she saw his name: Caden Lockwood.

A buzzing confusion filled her mind; she couldn’t comprehend what this marriage certificate meant.

Is this... a prank?

Was he kidding around?

But on this marriage certificate, why was there an official seal?

It looked... almost real!
