Chapter 117: Chapter 117: This All Started Because of You, So You Have to Take Responsibility for Me

Evelyn was taken aback and immediately asked, "What’s the matter?"

She was suspicious, could Caden Lockwood have found out something?

Or perhaps, was the incident with Finn Lewis really his doing?

Caden Lockwood stared at Evelyn Morgan, silent and not speaking.

He was waiting for her to confess.

But it seemed she had no intention of confessing.

Evelyn let out a sheepish smile, still unsure how to talk to him about Finn Lewis. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

She needed to organize her thoughts carefully.

Not hearing Caden speak, Evelyn left the bedroom with her bowl.

As he watched Evelyn’s back, a deep emotion flashed in Caden’s eyes.

Should he send someone to find out what happened to her?

After all, in this period, his father was likely to cause her some trouble as well.

Thinking this, a complicated expression flashed in Caden’s eyes...

Burdened with the issue concerning Finn Lewis, Evelyn felt restless, even getting distracted during class.

After deliberating for a long time, she finally decided to confront Caden directly and ask if he had done something to Finn.

Having made up her mind, her steps became lighter, and just as she managed a small smile, her phone rang.

It was a call from Finn Lewis.

Her smile instantly froze, her brows knitted in concern, and after hesitating for a moment, she answered the call.

"Evelyn, didn’t you say you didn’t hold a grudge against me? Why are you still targeting me?" Finn spoke anxiously, "I didn’t do anything to you, why must I be destroyed before you’re satisfied?"

"Senior," Evelyn replied, puzzled, "I really haven’t done anything to you!"

"What about your husband?" Finn asked, "If you haven’t done anything, has your husband?"

Evelyn remained silent.

She hadn’t yet asked Caden, so she couldn’t give a definitive answer.

"Just now, some people came up to me and warned that if I dared to contact you again, I’d be left with nothing!" Finn’s voice was filled with terror, "Evelyn, we really have nothing to do with each other anymore, why can’t your husband leave me alone?"

"We didn’t..." Evelyn whispered, "I also believe my husband isn’t the type to cause trouble for no reason!"

"Am I supposed to have quit my job on purpose just to frame you two?" Finn became desperate, "That’s my future! Can’t you stop being so casual about it? If you push me, I might just do something you won’t expect!"

Listening to Finn’s angry outburst, Evelyn lowered her gaze, her grip on the phone tightening involuntarily.

"I’ll give you an answer tonight." She spoke softly.

"What kind of answer can you give me?" Finn was even more agitated, "By just asking? If your husband did everything behind your back, would he really confess if you just ask him?"

"Then what do you want me to do?" Evelyn was also annoyed, "I can’t just take your word for it and believe my husband did something to you, right?"

"Whether you know about it or not, everything happened because of you," Finn lowered his voice, "You still... bear some responsibility."

Before Evelyn could respond, he continued, "Can you lend me some money?"

Evelyn widened her eyes in shock, "Lend you money?"

"I’m at the end of my rope," Finn spoke softly, "I was working with room and board included, but now I’ve suddenly been fired and wasn’t given a single penny. Evelyn, this started because of you, if you don’t help me, I’ll really starve!"
