Chapter 110: Chapter 110: She Was Almost Pressed Against Him

Breath catching, Evelyn raised her eyes to look at Caden Lockwood. His handsome, graceful face was like a beautiful painting, making it hard to look away.

His long fingers with distinct joints commandingly opened her fist, interlocking their fingers. Their warm palms touched tightly, emanating a deep warmth.

Her heart trembled, those precious, jewel-like eyes reflected two small images of him.

He was so focused, so composed, that he seemed to handle everything with a proud nonchalance.

She envied his arrogance, wished she could be like him.

That fearless detachment, that aura where even a casual glance outshone the other, she coveted greatly.

"Let’s start slowly, follow my steps. I step back with the left foot, you step forward with the right foot, take it easy, don’t panic." His tone was gentle, soothing.

She nodded, her heart tight in her throat, pounding furiously, "thump, thump."

Mind blank, his simple words seemed like a formula to her.

In actual practice, it was completely different.

Her cheeks flushed with intense heat, she concentrated, not wanting to look messy, too embarrassing. He moved back, she instinctively followed backward, completely confused.

She glanced at him, he showed no reproach, but rather eyes full of encouragement, different from the previously proud Young Lord.

Gathering courage, she kept repeating his formula-like words in her mind, yet lacked the talent, always moving in opposition to him.

Finally getting one step right, she stepped directly on his foot.

"Sorry!" she exclaimed hastily, "I didn’t mean to!"

Trying to withdraw her hand and retreat, his large palm instead wrapped around her waist, not letting her escape.

"You... you let go..."

"Step onto my foot." His tone was commanding.

She didn’t understand, but still shook her head.

She didn’t want to learn anymore.

Too embarrassing!

She started to question why in the world was she someone with such uncoordinated limbs?

"Don’t be afraid." He spoke gently, "Trust me, I promise tonight you’ll at least learn not to step on others’ feet and shine during the dance lesson."

Listening to his description of the outcome, she was swayed.

Believing herself not to be stupid, yet always devastated in dance class, she’d fantasized many times about conquering them all someday with her splendid dance moves.

Now, the chance was right before her, she didn’t want to give up.

Taking a deep breath, she followed his instructions and stepped onto his foot.

Only then did she realize that this posture almost pressed her against him, and just as she was about to retreat, he already held her, beginning to move in dance.

She stepped on his foot, moving with his steps, each step elegant, as he quickened his pace, she felt as though she might fly.

The music unknowingly played, she had never danced a song so completely.

Kiki wagged its tail and barked nearby, as if accompanying them, and joyful emotions spread throughout the room, no worries at all.

As the song ended, Evelyn looked at Caden Lockwood in surprise, completely forgetting she was currently in his embrace, marveling, "I feel like I know how my feet should move!"
