Unlike the common monsters of the forest, Lohan’s projectile did not instantly pierce the hard shell; it slid across the insect’s reflective surface, leaving only a trail of frost and a superficial crack.
"Damn, what to expect from a Level 10 monster’s defense..." Lohan commented in frustration through the mental link, while using [Selective Viscosity] to keep himself anchored vertically outside the dungeon trunk.
They hadn’t even entered the tree and had already been intercepted by a trio of patrolling beetles.
The day before, Lohan and Lisa had broken away a little, choosing to also practice solo combat, not wanting to become too dependent on each other.
The beetles, almost a meter long, moved with an agility that did not match their size, using their pointed legs to dig into the fossilized amber of the tree, producing crackling sounds as they walked.

The bluish filaments glowed with Mana light, crossing the space between the spirals of the trunk and trapping the hind legs of the nearest beetle.

Just as he had suffered from the bloodsucking worm when he was a Level 01 Slime, this Level 10 beetle was suffering under his digestion!
Below him, Lisa finished off the second beetle with a flurry of quick attacks, while the third insect, realizing that its companions were being wiped out, tried to retreat into one of the holes in the log to alert the rest of the insects.
"No way!" Lohan fired another [Ice Spike], this time enhanced by the precision of [Monocular Telescopic Vision Lv 9], hitting the fugitive’s wing joint and knocking it directly toward the fireball thrown by Lisa.
In less than two minutes, silence returned to the base of the tree, broken only by the hiss of Lohan’s digestion.
