Sleeping With The CEO-Chapter 363: Phoenix Rising
Chapter 363: Phoenix Rising
As a child, Sebastian had been raised to rule. With everyone around him, and himself as well knowing that thd title of CEO would be his as soon as he came of age.
In fact, it had been to the point that when he had been introduced. It had been as..."This is Sebastian, the future head of Haven Group" That was what he had grown up knowing he would become one day... the CEO.
But then as a young adult, that position that he had always known would be his, had been taken away from him and given to Jasper of all people, his own twin chosen over him.
like Sebastian was nothing, like he was just used up goods. A newer, better model had been discovered, and he had been tossed to the side. It had stung. In fact, it had more than stung. It had burned his ego, his soul and for the longest time
Sebastian had thought that he would not be able to recover from it.
But he had recovered and in doing so he had sharpened his mind and hardened his heart. Slowly cutting away all weak human emotions from it. Unintentionally getting himself ready for what was to come. On the day that he had killed his brother. That had been what had saved him from losing his mind to grief and guilt. Allowing him to keep going on with his life.
That was the moment when Sebastian had known for sure that he had been robbed, that the position of CEO should have been his in the first place. Many other people would not have been able to forgive themselves for killing their own brother, their twin.
But Sebastian had been able to find it within himself to forgive his own wrongdoings. That, as far as he was concerned, was the mark of a great leader, someone with an endless capacity to forgive.
Things should have ended there, with Sebastian having proven to himself that he was worthy, and then getting to become CEO thanks to the death of his brother. But that was not the way that everything had turned out. Instead, he’d had to watch as his sister-in-law took charge.
For a brief instant, he had entertained the thought of killing her as well. Taking her out just like he had done her husband.
But he had realized that if she died too soon after the death of his twin brother, it would be suspicious. The police had already stopped looking into Jasper’s case by then, and he did not want to give them a reason to open it up again. Not only that, if something were to have happened, to his sister-in-law, then Sebastian would have been left in charge of his nephew.
Though he was a daredevil willing to try anything at least once, parenting had been where Sebastian’s line was, and it was not a line that he had ever wanted to cross, even if it was through raising his brother’s child. So he had left his sister-in-law alive.
And for two decades after his brother’s death, Sebastian had also left his nephew alive. But then Derek had to go and look into places that he had no business looking into, turning up secrets that had been buried long ago. Things that no one should have been looking for anymore. He had forced Sebastian’s hand.
In an unfortunate case of generational bad luck. Emily Molson, just like her father before her, had been caught up in Haven family drama. Paying for it with her life, just as Peter Molson had.
When it came to qualifications to lead, many people when asked about theirs brought out papers to show the skills that they had acquired over the years. But Sebastian merely had to state his body count and he knew many in the room would tremble.
Four kills to his name. Two of them his direct family members, and the other two strangers that he had not really known at all.
But seeing how squeamish people were when it came to talking about murder. Especially murder of people who were related to you by blood, it was a truth that Sebastian would never be able to share with anyone. But even so... he could make sure that his sacrifice was honoured, that people respected him for it, even if they did not know exactly what it was that he had done to get what was rightfully his.
Now that he had finally managed to make it to the position of CEO, he would be staying there for as long as he lived. Whether Haven Group soared, or he ran it to the ground, that would not matter.
He would be CEO.
That deserved to be celebrated.
In fact Haven group was more than just a business to him. It was his kingdom. And like any king, finally ascending the throne, after years of trials and tribulations, he deserved to have a coronation, to have people cheering and clapping. All of them at least a little bit envious of him, but unable to do anything, as he finally got recognized by his proper title, CEO Sebastian Haven. The new door to his office already said that.
Now he had to throw the party of all parties.
It would be a way to assert his dominance even more. To let everyone know that he was here to stay, and to rub his success in the faces of the people who had not thought he would ever become CEO, chief among them being his sister-in-law a party. Sebastian was going to hold a celebration to show off not only the fact that he had finally made it, but also the death of his nephew. For everyone else, he had the invitation sent through e-mail.
For his sister-in-law, he made the exception, picking up a card for the occasion and personally writing out the invite himself. Card sent, he sat back. Now he would make Cassandra stand and watch as he rose and rose like the phoenix that he was.
