Sleeping With The CEO-Chapter 360: Silent Return
Chapter 360: Silent Return
Sebastian would be the first to admit, that for a while there he’d had no idea exactly where things were going in his life. But he had been certain that wherever the situation ended up, it would not be anywhere good.
After all, the specialists at the police station had been working on getting the broken memory card functional. His nephew and Emily Moulson were in hospital recovering, and he had not been able to go and burn the car as he had intended. Things had not been looking good for him at all. After staring down the barrel of a gun.
His sister-in-law threatening to shoot him. Sebastian had decided that the best cause of action, one that would ensure that no matter what happened, he would be safe, was to leave the country. So he had done just that, not even sure how long he would have to be gone.
Just knowing that being as far away from Haven Group as possible was what was best for him.
Luckily for him, his self-imposed exile ended up not having to be that long. For two days, Sebastian enjoyed some fun in the sun. Surrounded by dark-skinned exotic beauties, sipping martinis and cocktails while watching the gorgeous young women, who frequented the resort that he was in, walk around. Their bikinis leaving little to the imagination. It had been a good life, one that he had been certain he could become accustomed to. It would have been a huge sacrifice on his part, one that he had been willing to pay for his freedom.
But as it turned out Sebastian need not have been worried about having to give up life in the city for one by the seaside.
Two days after his arrival devastating news had reached him, the death of his beloved nephew.
Apparently Derek had hung on for as long as he could, fighting with everything in him. But in the end, the injuries that he had sustained during his fall into the waters had been too much, and he had sadly passed away. Emily Molson dying a few hours after him.
It was quite the story and Sebastian spent hours going through it all online. Lapping up every single detail that he could find.
At first, he had been overjoyed. Derek dying meant that he could go home. After all, his nephew and Emily had been the only ones to know about the car. And the memory card would not pose as much of a risk.
Sebastian could always just get himself a really good lawyer and say that he had been kidding. That he and Derek had just been playing around. That was how much easier things were for him now that his nephew and Emily were no longer in the picture.
But still, Sebastian had not gotten so far in life because he was someone who moved too fast in situations. In fact, it was his caution that had often saved him in many situations. So rather than just getting on the first flight and heading back home, Sebastian had instead played it cool. Wary of walking into a trap.
He had even gone as far as to go online and hire somebody to attend Derek and Emily’s funeral. A plan that had failed because Cassandra and Jane’d had a private send off for their precious babies. When the funeral attendance had failed, he’d had pictures of the gravestones be taken, and sent to him. It might have seemed like overkill but Sebastian had wanted to be a hundred percent sure that he would not be walking into a trap by returning home.
Even after he had gotten the photos. He had stayed a few extra days on his little piece of paradise. Mostly to celebrate his victory. But some of the delay had been because he wanted to be sure of his nephew and Emily’s demise.
But now as he stared at the graveof his nephew, having visited Emily’s earlier. Sebastian felt as though he could breathe easier. He had arrived in the city the night before.
Being sure to keep his return silent.
The last time that he had seen Cassandra, she had pointed a gun at him. He did not want to poke her, especially while she was still grieving the loss of her nosy son. And so Sebastian had kept his arrival to himself, and was now using the fact that no one knew he was there to check things for himself.
The gravestone looked real enough. It had all the correct dates and everything.
And it was right next to Jasper’s on the family plot. His nephew really was well and truly dead. Staring at the tombstone for a few seconds, Sebastian finally shook his head and walked away, making sure not to look at his brother’s tombstone.
Nor the one that belonged to his parents and grandparents. He had nothing to say to them.
Thanks to his actions, he was now the only Haven by blood who was still alive.
He was certain that even if he could have spoken to them. They would not have wanted to hear anything he had to say. But Sebastian still did not regret it. He had done what he needed to do, in order to get what rightfully belonged to him.
The drive to the office was a silent one. And when Sebastian made it to Haven Group headquarters, he was not suddenly ambushed by police and Derek was not there waiting to surprise him.
"This is not a trap...this is not a trap..." He repeated to himself. But even with all of that, he could not shake the feeling that something was not right.
It all just felt too easy, too convenient.
Rather than just dismissing the thought, Sebastian instead decided to do something that would calm his worries. After being in the office for less than five minutes, he was once again at the door. This time when he got into the car, he was headed for the warehouse.
His old red car was there waiting for him. Proof that his secret was still safe. When Sebastian got into it and drove it outside the warehouse, it ran like the well-oiled machine that it was. It was a horrible thing, dousing it in alcohol and then setting it alight. But Sebastian still did it.
He had sacrificed his own brother and his nephew. But somehow burning the piece of machinery hurt more. Did that make him some sort of psychopath, or maybe just someone who no longer had any use for their emotions? He had no idea, and he did not care.
But even so, as he watched the expensive vehicle begin to lose colour, all of the evidence that it had held burning away, Sebastian still offered a prayer to his nephew and his brother.
Asking them to forgive him for what he had done.
The dead were not supposed to hold grudges after all. He was certain that they would forgive him. Leaving the burning car behind, Sebastian once again made his way back to the city.
This time there would be no Derek to be wary of, and Cassandra would no doubt be too lost in her grief to think of opposing him. It was a new dawn for Haven Grou, and he would be sure to become a CEO that the company would never forget.
