Sleeping With The CEO-Chapter 325: No Sense Made
Chapter 325: No Sense Made
Derek’s mother, and Emily’s mom making pinky promises to one another was so far out of reality that Emily actually had to pinch herself. Just to see if she was imagining things or not. When they had been making their way up the stairs. She had not imagined things going the way that they were currently progressing at all.
Their mothers knew one another.
That was huge.
Derek’s mother had said that they did not know each other’s last names before their current meeting. But the name Cassandra was not a common one. Emily would have remembered if her mom had ever mentioned it. Even if she’d said Cassie, at least once over the years.
Emily was certain that she would recall it. But her mother had never once mentioned having a friend named Cassie or Cassandra. And yet the two of them were behaving as though they were the best of friends. It was as though, they had been through some tough times together, and gotten closer because of it. But what kind of difficult situation could have placed her mom, and Derek’s mother together?
Emily had tried clearing her throat to get their attention at first, but she had been ignored. Luckily for her, Derek’s throat clearing was louder and more assertive, and their moms had finally turned to them. Acknowledging their presence.
" You two know each other?" He asked. And if Emily were not so busy being shocked, she would have kissed him for taking the words right out of her mouth.
A simple yes, we know one another would have been enough, followed up by something like oh, we bumped into each other by accident, or my car broke down and she was the one to help me. But of course, it seemed that their mothers really enjoyed dropping bombshells. After admitting that they knew each other.
They quickly followed up with,
"We met the day our husbands died,"Which, as far as Emily was concerned, was a far more pressing matter than the fact that it seemed as though their mothers had known each other all along.
The younger Molson puzzled over the words but they just did not make sense.
What did she mean that they met the day their husbands died? That did not make any sense.
Emily’s father had died of cancer. She remembered how hard he had fought against the disease. Going through round after round of chemo, and enduring radiation. He might have lost hisbattlwe against the disease in the end. But he had put up a heck of a fight through it all. During that time Emily did not ever remember seeing Cassandra Haven or Derek at the hospital.
Even though her world had been falling apart back then. Emily was certain that she would have remembered meeting them. Derek and his mother were pretty unforgettable people.
So how on earth could their mothers have met, and Emily not remember. Especially on the very day that Derek’s father and Emily’s dad passed on? Had Mr Haven been rushed to the same hospital as Emily’s dad? Was That how they had met? Again Emily shook her head.
That didn’t make sense. She knew for a fact that the Havens had a personal doctor on call, and that they also had a private wing in all of the hospitals in the city. So the chances of their mothers running into one another would have been close to nothing.
Looking over at the two women before her, Emily decided to just ask,
"If the two of you met all of those years ago. Then how come I do not remember you? I was practically mymother’s little shadow back then. I would recallseeing you,"Emily squinted her eyes as she looked at Cassandra Haven. But that did not jog any memories at all.
" If you two met back then, why are my memories Cassandra, and Derek Haven free?"
Her query was met with silence, and that made Emily’s discomfort with the entire thing worse.
Derek’s mother and her mom looked at each other before turning back to Derek and Emily. Their expressions identical. Guilt and sadness mixed into one. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
"Mom, what aren’t you telling me?
What have you guys been hiding all of these years?" Emily asked, and again, she was met with silence. Her unease growing, she looked over at Derek, and he too seemed to be just as uncomfortable as Emily was.
Why were their moms suddenly silent? And what was with all the secrecy? From observing their interactions so far, Emily could tell that they got along. Why had they decided to break contact all of those years ago? If they did indeed meet the day that their husbands died, then shouldn’t that have brought them closer together?
Instead of them deciding never to talk to one another again. Their shared tragedy should have bound them together. After all, nobody could have understood their grief, like one another. So why break contact? And that was not the only thing that did not make sense.
Before their meeting at the apartment, Emily’s mom and Derek’s mother had not known who the other was.
They had not known each other’s last names. But Emily’s mom had called Derek’s mother Cassie instead of Cassandra as the other woman preferred being addressed. That spoke of familiarity.
But at the same time, the fact that they did not know each other’s last names said that they were strangers. Emily tried to align the facts in her mind to see if she could come up with something that did not make her head hurt.
Fact number one, their moms knew each other from twenty years ago.
Fact number two, they said that they had been together when their husbands died.
Fact number three, they knew each other by first name only.
Fact number four, even though they had only met briefly all of those years ago, they seemed to have a very deep bond.
But even with all of the facts that she knew, mapped out in her mind.
Emily just could not connect the pieces and see what it was that she was missing. There was clearly more to the story.
But whatever it was, it seemed as though their mothers would not be divulging that information easily.
