Sleeping With The CEO-Chapter 301: Crack In The Wall
Chapter 301: Crack In The Wall
If there was one thing that Sebastian Haven had a knack for finding... it was trouble. For a few weeks now, his senses had been going off. Telling him that something was wrong, but he could not seem to find it, whatever it was.
Maybe he was imagining things. After all, his nephew seemed to be thriving.
He had even gotten rid of the monstrosity that had attached itself to his face. Not only that monstrosity, but also the one that had always been attached to his side like a hairy mole.
What had been her name again?
Anyway, it did not matter. The mole was gone, and in her place was a gorgeous creature that Sebastian had yet to become acquainted with. He’d winked at her from across the room several times but the woman never seemed to notice. But Sebastian did not let it bother him.
It seemed as though she would be staying a while, unlike all the others that had been fired nearly on a constant basis, the last time that Derek’s creature had been gone.
But his budding romance in the office aside. Sebastian still could not shake the feeling that something more was going on.
There was just something wrong with his nephew. He no longer had that spark, that fire, that Sebastian had just been waiting to extinguish. Just so he could savor the moment when he watched it go out. Who had managed to steal the smug look that his nephew had always worn? fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
Sebastian wanted to know, but not so he could congratulate them. He wanted to punch them across the face for stealing his fun. Anyway, just because his nephew seemed to have lost his mojo. It did not mean that Sebastian did not have a plan to try and get it back.
If there was one thing that Derek loved doing. It was playing the hero.
Like he’d done that time after Sebastian had put in all the effort into stoking a strike amongst the low-level workers. But this time, Sebastian had something more thrilling than a simple strike.
He had a story.
A story that everyone at Haven Group should have known about. But nobody did. And he was going to make sure that they heard it, just not from him, but from the papers.
That was why instead of spending the weekend with a blonde or two.
Sebastian had instead been sitting across from a, not at all flattering woman who was busy recording everything he said. For you see, the information that Sebastian had managed to get his hands on.
Before everybody else at Haven Group was quite important.
Apparently, one of the contractors that Haven Group had hired was using substandard material in their buildings. Generally, that would have been something that could just be handled quickly.
However, the contractor was not just handling any project. They were the ones in charge of building a youth center.
Imagine, a building that was supposed to be a place of safety for young, vibrant minds. Could very well end up being their tomb, if the materials being used were not stopped, and the whole thing restarted again, to make sure that the young ones were safe.
How positively awful, for Haven Group to just let such a thing slide.
Did they not care about the future?About the children?!
Sebastian had made sure to put in the right amount of outrage, fear and desperation into his voice, when he had told the reporter everything.
"Just make sure that my name stays out of this. My nephew is enough of a tyrant. I could not bear what he would do to me if he were to find out,"
Sebastian had to admit it had been some of the best acting of his life, and that woman had fallen for it hook line and sinker. Even if she had not.
He had still given her a juicy story. But being able to pull the wool over her eyes, and make it look as though he was coming to her because he actually cared. Had been the cherry on top for Sebastian.
Normally, such a crisis would have been something that his nephew saw coming from a mile away, and handled accordingly.
But Derek had been off for a while now. It was almost similar to how he had been that time when his PA back then had been on leave. But this time, his change in mood did not coincide with the old PA leaving, and the new one coming in. But whatever it is that had set him off, Sebastian was grateful for it.
Especially when Derek had just out of the blue decided to be absent from work for an entire week. Some blessings literally just fell on the laps of those who were deserving. And Sebastian knew that he was more than deserving, of any help he could get in order to take the position that was rightfully his at Haven Group.
It was Monday now. Sebastian, knowing the story was about to drop. Was struggling to reign in his excitement.
Once word got out that Haven Group had been using a shady contractor. Things were bound to explode.
Investors would get antsy. Some would even pull out immediately, and Haven Group’s shares would drop. There was just so much carnage waiting to happen, and Sebastian was almost salivating just thinking about it.
Whatever happened it would be a heck of a mess to clean up. And this time Sebastian had made sure that no one knew of his involvement other than the journalist. There would be nobody hounding him. All that he would have to do would be to sit back, and enjoy the show.
It would be great fun watching that pompous nephew of his crash and burn.
Good luck getting out of this one, Sebastian thought. Unable to stop the smile that spread across his face as he caught sight of his nephew walking into the building.
In just a few short hours Derek would not know what had hit him. And if by some miracle he managed to escape this particular trap. Then Sebastian had many more in store. Ever since the solar power plant strike. He had been slowly gathering a few weapons that he could use against his nephew. He was more than willing to deploy them. But for now, he would see how this one went, and just enjoy himself.
He spent a few hours at headquarters pretending to work. All the while doing his best not to make it look as though he were waiting for anything. But just after eleven in the morning, his wait was finally over.
The article was published and Sebastian sat back and watched the fire burn. Take that nephew, he thought. And his grin held nothing but malice.
