Chapter 50: Kavitha Khan

"Sparring session gone wrong was it?" asked Dr. Khan, a petite Indian woman wearing a white lab coat over a black silk saree, as she examined the CT scan of Jennifer’s arm.

"Unfortunately doctor," said Natasha.

Dr. Khan raised an eyebrow. "Don’t insult my intelligence Miss Dominatrix, I don’t care what you do in your private time, but I expect you to be honest with me when it comes to injuries," she said, her voice firm.

"Fine, you win. Here, let me show you," said Natasha, gently guiding Dr. Khan’s hand over her gloves and blazer sleeve.

Dr. Khan’s eyes widened in surprise as she felt the armor plates under Natasha’s blazer elbow, and the knuckle dusters on her gloves.

"I see, so that explains it. Damn, that is some serious body armor," she said, her voice tinged with admiration.

"Despite how it looks, it’s actually my uniform, and I am a security officer," said Natasha.

"Hmm, an interesting company of yours this is. Anyway, the good news is that the fracture is clean, and can be set without the need for surgery.

The bad news is that she will need to be in a cast for at least six weeks," said Dr. Khan, pulling on a pair of sterile gloves.

"Now, let’s get this arm set," she said, as she carefully manipulated Jennifer’s arm into the correct position.

Jennifer winced in pain, but remained silent.

Dr. Khan then wrapped her arm in a plaster cast, securing it in place.

"There, all done. Now, show me the rest," she asked Natasha.

Natasha nodded and guided her to the other injured recruits.

One by one, Dr. Khan examined and treated their injuries, wrapping them in bandages and applying ointments.

"All right, now miss..." she began, turning to Natasha.

"Natasha Parker," replied Natasha, extending her hand.

"Miss Natasha. I don’t want to know what happened here, but I do implore you to be more cautious about that thing’s capabilities.

Instead of thinking of it as a uniform or body armor, think of it as a weaponized exoskeleton. Whoever designed it clearly knew their biomechanics," said Dr. Khan.

"Was that a warning or a gushing over the design?" asked Natasha, smirking.

"Both. And I’m serious Natasha. You got lucky that you didn’t have twelve body bags. That thing is designed to maximize force transfer in close quarters combat. If you had gotten too carried away, Jennifer’s ulna would have been pulverized, and her arm would have been ripped right out of the socket," said Dr. Khan, her voice stern.

Natasha gulped at Dr. Khan’s intensity.

"Understood, doctor. I’ll be more careful," she said, her voice subdued.

----

After Natasha and her recruits had been discharged, Dr. Kavitha Khan locked her office door, and slumped down onto the floor, willing her pounding heart to slow down.

"I need to calm down," she muttered to herself, taking deep breaths.

"To think that there is someone out there who can design an exoskeleton like that! That power is driving me crazy!" she thought, a surge of excitement coursing through her as images of herself crushing the bones of faceless enemies with those armored gloves flashed through her mind.

"That power, that strength! I need to have it!" she moaned, ripping off her lab coat and sticking her hand into her panties, rubbing furiously at her clit.

"That’s right! I wanna snap bones like twigs! I wanna crush skulls! Oooh I wanna snap a spine!" she panted as she neared her climax.

"Oooh! Yeah! I wanna break a femur right in half!" she cried as her climax hit.

She slowly came down from her orgasm, panting and sweating. The euphoria rapidly being replaced with guilt and shame.

Tears leaked from the corners of her eyes.

"Noo! I shouldn’t be getting off to things like this!" she wailed, slumping further onto the floor.

After what seemed like an eternity, her sobbing finally subsided, and she picked herself up from the floor.

"I need to get some help," she said wearily to herself, as she tidied up her saree and slipped her lab coat back on.

She unlocked her door to find herself face to face with the hospital director, and a pair of burly security guards standing behind him.

"Dr. Khan, please collect your belongings. These gentlemen will escort you to your car," he said, a vein throbbing in his temple.

"Sir, I can explain," she said, her voice trembling.

"Don’t make me write to the board to revoke your medical license, Dr. Khan. I cannot abide what I just heard. The Hippocratic oath is sacred, fantasy or not. Please leave the premises immediately," he said through gritted teeth.

Too drained for fresh tears, Dr. Khan nodded and collected her belongings.

----

Kavitha fell onto her bed, not bothering to change out of her saree.

"What do I do now?" she groaned, staring at the ceiling.

She fumbled for her phone, and started scrolling through social media.

"Maybe death by brain rot is the way to go," she mumbled morbidly, as she mindlessly scrolled through the endless stream of posts.

Suddenly, a post caught her eye.

It was a video that showed Natasha and another tall blond woman, wearing that same uniform, escorting a young man into a car while firing warning shots into the air.

The caption read: "Sirius Software CEO flees amidst accusations of gentrification and exploitative company policies."

"Sirius Software, huh? Maybe I should pay them a visit," she mumbled as she succumbed to the pull of sleep.

----

Kavitha awoke slowly, her body feeling heavy and sluggish.

"Huh, so it wasn’t a nightmare," she mumbled, taking her bearings.

She slowly changed out of her saree, went to the bathroom, and splashed cold water on her face.

"OK. Sirius Software, let’s see if they are hiring," she said to herself, as she slipped into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.

She sat down at her desk, and fired up her laptop.

After a few minutes of searching, she found the Sirius Software website.

"Let’s see, careers... security team... ah, here we go," she said, clicking on the link.

She read through the job description, and her eyes widened in surprise.

"Must be trained in the use of firearms, ex-military or law enforcement experience preferred," she read aloud.

"Woah, they are seriously evaluating IQ and body measurements?" she muttered, clicking through the application form.

"Well, gave it the old college try," she sighed, as she submitted her application.

"Now, let’s see if they even bother to reply," she said, closing her laptop and heading to the kitchen to make some coffee.

----

"Hmm, having a doctor on the team would be a good idea," mused Aaron, as he read through the application from Dr. Kavitha Khan.

"She did seem quite intrigued by the uniform sir, but this seems a bit too sudden. Plus, she has no prior security experience," said Natasha, looking over his shoulder.

"Well, let’s see if she can handle the assessment, and we’ll go from there. Nobody just throws away a hospital residency without a good reason," said Aaron, sending an interview invitation to Kavitha’s email address.

----

"What the hell am I doing?" thought Kavitha, as she stood in front of her mirror, adjusting her blouse and blazer.

The black blazer, white silk blouse, and black pencil skirt flattered her petite frame, but her heart raced with anxiety.

"Sirius Software, or try another hospital? Security team, or orthopedic surgeon? Wear a suit that can let me break bones or therapy?" she thought, as she applied a coat of lipstick.

"Who am I kidding? I’m sure that director has put me on some blacklist, even if I still have my medical license," she sighed, as she grabbed her purse and headed out the door. She slipped on the highest pair of chunky heels she owned, and tottered towards her BMW Z4, a gift from her parents for finishing medical school.

Fresh guilt over her decision washed over her as she sat in the driver’s seat, recalling the proud and happy faces of her parents when they had gifted her the car.

"I’m sorry mom and dad, but I’m poison. I can’t be a doctor anymore," she thought, as she started the engine and drove towards the Sirius Software compound.

----

"Dr. Khan? You’re the new applicant?" asked Natasha, as Kavitha sat squirming in the chair across from her.

"Yes," mumbled Kavitha, her eyes darting around the room.

Natasha folded her arms and looked at Kavitha with a steely gaze.

"Why does an orthopedic surgeon want to work security at a game development company, and a controversial one at that?" she asked.

"Well, given that your damn uniform is responsible for my career imploding, I don’t really have any other options!" snapped Kavitha.

Natasha raised an eyebrow, "Interesting choice of words. Tell me more about this ’implosion.’"

"It’s... not something I can tell you," said Kavitha, averting her eyes.

"Well, you’re going to have to. I’m not about to let in a charity case, or somebody who can’t handle high-pressure situations," said Natasha, her voice firm.

Kavitha’s lip trembled. "I was fired from the hospital because I got off to the idea of breaking bones with that uniform!" she wailed, breaking down, tears pilling from her black eyes, smearing her black kohl eyeliner.

Natasha got up from her chair, walked around the table, and gently hugged Kavitha.

"I’m a bit out of my depth on this one, but all I can say is that if you can feel remorse over it, you’re not a lost cause," she said softly.

Kavitha sobbed into Natasha’s shoulder, her body shaking with the force of her tears.

"Thank you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

After a couple of minutes, Kavitha composed herself and pulled back from Natasha’s embrace.

"If you feel I’m too unstable, I understand," she said, her voice trembling.

"How about we start with the assessment. Can you handle a firearm?" asked Natasha, her voice steady.

Kavitha nodded, her eyes still red from crying.

"All right, let’s see what you can do," said Natasha, leading Kavitha to the tactical assessment corridor.

----

"Given your medical skill set, I believe you would be more suited as an in-house physician rather than a security officer. Would you like that, Dr. Khan?" asked Aaron, as Kavitha sat before him, her hands clasped tightly in her lap.

"W-with all due respect, sir. It was the security uniform that drew me in, I’d choose security if it means I can wear it," she said, a faint blush creeping onto her cheeks.

"I don’t see any reason why you can’t wear it in your role as an in-house physician," said Aaron, a small smile playing on his lips.

"B-but sir, wouldn’t it be overkill to have a physician in a combat uniform?" asked Kavitha, her voice trembling.

"No it won’t. However, there will be a few cosmetic changes to it, just to distinguish you from the security officers," said Aaron, his voice firm.

"In that case, I accept the physician position, sir. I’m still a doctor at heart," said Kavitha, her eyes wet with tears of relief.

"Welcome to the team, Dr. Khan," said Aaron, extending his hand.

Kavitha shook his hand, her heart racing with excitement.

"Thank you, sir. I won’t let you down," she said.

"Good. Now, the cosmetic changes I mentioned. Would you prefer the same black leather, with just a white medical cross on the shoulders? Or would you like it as fully white leather?" asked Aaron.

Kavitha’s eyes widened in surprise. "I-I can choose?" she stammered.

"Well, it’s going to be the uniform for any new female medical personnel we hire, so choose wisely," chuckled Aaron.

Kavitha thought for a moment, then said, "I think I prefer the black leather with the white medical cross. It looks more professional, and I can still wear my lab coat over it."

"All right, now. Your salary will be $400,000 a year, with performance bonuses, and you get an apartment in the staff housing complex," said Aaron, as he handed her a contract.

Kavitha let out a low whistle as she read through the contract. "This is some next-level stuff," she said, her eyes wide with disbelief.

"Still want the job?" asked Aaron.

"Yes, sir. I do," said Kavitha, signing the contract, and adding her biometrics.

"OK, now Natasha here will help you get settled in, and I’d like a list of medical supplies and equipment you’ll need for the clinic," said Aaron, as he stood up and shook her hand again.

"Thank you, sir. I won’t disappoint you," said Kavitha, shaking his hand, and leaving with Natasha.
