Chapter 224: 224. You’ll Do What I Said

33rd Floor, Dungeon of Sins.

In the afternoon, Jake stood in a spacious region with tens of mages who were currently analysing the blueprint for the teleportation array.

Jake wanted to start creating the array after he’d acquired all the materials for it, but the news this morning was too serious.

At the moment, his dungeon only had half the minerals required to create the spatial altar. As for etching the array, a special kind of dust was needed.

He found that in his system shop but the item was of Epic-grade. Considering it was just a material, the price wasn’t high but Jake needed this in large amounts.

For that, he’d need another sixty thousand Evil Points. Thankfully, he still had a decent sum of points remaining after he spent it last time. Though, gathering all the materials would take another week at least.

Adding that to the time required to build the array itself, Jake calculated he would need about 5 weeks.

If he rushed and increased the manpower, he could shorten that time. Unlike Sren who worked with a small team of intelligent monsters and mechanical constructs, Jake had hundreds of workers at his disposal.

The physical labor wasn’t a problem. Also, the elven mages and the summoners he’d recently corrupted would massively help him during the process. All in all, it would take at most 2 weeks for the array to be up and running.

During this time, Jake could start deploying monsters to the most critical locations in the kingdom.

In times of war, the royal army would never be enough. Although the Philips were powerful, they still needed supporters. If he could swiftly take them down, that would deal a massive blow to the royalty while also increasing the confidence of opposition nobles.

By now, Jake had infiltrated most of the prominent houses of Grimbow and knew which houses provided the most support to the Philips family.

’’Master, we’ve finished analysing the blueprint." As Jake was thinking, Tiara, the leader of the seven summoners, called from behind.

"This array has four layers, three for three dimensions and the final one to lock the time coordinates. It is best that we create the array formation layer by layer."

"Alright, I’ll leave you to it." Jake replied, retrieving grey bags which contained the necessary space dust.

After explaining the usage to Tiara and the other mages present, Jake teleported back to the second last floor. He immediately called for a strategy meeting.

The first to arrive was Minerva, who didn’t seem pleased that he wanted her to attack another noble house

According to her, they were still on equal terms and even though this demon had a 5th Circle Dragon at his disposal, she wholeheartedly believed he couldn’t harm her.

After all, she and him had signed a contract.

"No!" Minerva’s reply was firm. If it was just some random noble house, she’d have sent one of her death knights and that would be it.

However, this demon wanted her to go kill the Isenwings who were known to train the Kingdom’s greatest assassins. As a former noble countess, Minerva was obviously privy to some of the secrets that ordinary civilians could never know.

Isenwing was a longstanding family which had as many as four 4th Circlers. There were even rumors that their first generation patriarch was still alive.

Considering the fact that they also supported the royal family, nobody wanted to mess with them. However, now, Jake was telling her to poke this hornet’s nest.

"You’ll be accompanied by two elven druids and Calliya. I’ll also arrange a Dark Knight from Gera to assist in this task."

"Just because I complied with some of your requests doesn’t mean you can always order me around!"

Hearing this, Jake leaned on his chair and intently stared at Minerva. Contrary to this necromancer’s expectations, he didn’t become angry.

Instead, Jake smiled and said, "You’ll do what I said, whether you like it or not."

"And what makes you think of that?" Minerva narrowed her eyes and raised her staff.

However, before she could even whisper a syllable of spell chant, the contractual chains binding her soul released searing heat, burning with hellfire.

"Aaaaahhh!" The curvy undead grabbed her head, falling on her knees.

Jake watched as she writhed in agony and got down from his throne. When the pain was finally gone, Minerva looked at the demon who towered before her.

Slowly unbuttoning his pants, Jake chuckled, "I suggest you reread the terms of that contract."

[Ding! You have committed a prideful sin. You gain 4096 Evil Points!]

...

Central Diocese, Holy Light Cathedral.

"Your Excellency, Bishop Lucas of Ardin and Bishop Benedict of Gaephia have sent their regards." A short priestess came behind Joseph and reported.

"Bishop Lucas in particular has sent warnings of demon activities. He suspects that a foul devil may be roaming around the kingdom."

"I see." the Archbishop’s expression didn’t change and he asked, slightly turning around, "What about Panchel? Does he not know of my arrival?"

The priestess looked at the holy crystal and used a divine spell. Some moments later, sweat began forming on her forehead.

"I-I can’t seem to contact Bishop Panchel. He didn’t reply to the holy summons either."

This time, Joseph’s eyebrows twitched. While the priestess respectfully stood behind him, he tapped his chest and muttered a prayer.

Suddenly, the candles on the god’s altar burned brighter and a pillar of divine light shot upwards from the holy cross.

At the same time, the crosses of Ardin and Gaephia dioceses also let out similar rays of light.

However, the cathedral at Gera city remained dormant. The runes etched on the altar seemed to have no reaction. On the contrary, thick demonic power filled the cathedral, as if irritated by the divine prayer.

Back at Ulford, Joseph’s closed eyes suddenly burst open with golden light as he floated soundlessly towards the dimming altar. There was fury on the Archbishop’s face.

"Blasphemy!"

His voice startled the young priestess. Lord Joseph had always been kind and soft-spoken. What could possibly have angered him?

"An evil power has parasitized this kingdom while I was away" Joseph knelt in front of the cross, praying, "Lord grant us strength..."

Hearing that, the priestess was shocked. At the same time, several priests had noticed the pillar of light earlier and arrived at the prayer hall.

"Your Grace!" They knelt as well, following the Archbishop at the front.

When Joseph stood up and turned around, he tapped his priestly staff, commanding with a serious tone.

"Summon the Crusaders. Karsuda has fallen!"
