At the park entrance, an elderly man in a gray jacket and an old-fashioned Zhongshan cap appeared, accompanied by several police officers and security guards. He was the village committee secretary of Yui Village.

Upon entering the mid-rear area of the community, the armed police and special forces immediately formed a triangular infiltration formation, sticking to the walls in batches or threading through the park’s woods.

Halfway along the path, two flashes suddenly appeared near the gazebo.

A small number of individuals in loose civilian clothes, holding Type 92 handguns, suddenly emerged from around the gazebo. They were special agents from the Ningzhou City State Security Bureau and local Huaizhou Province.

Gu Ji’s eyes swiftly scanned the group, recognizing some familiar faces among them.

Until a young woman with disheveled hair, wearing a black baseball cap, with a slightly bulky figure, and vigilant eyes like a small female predator ready to hunt, appeared.

Seeing that she was fine, Gu Ji felt relieved. It seemed that the lack of response earlier might have been due to the operation, with her phone temporarily confiscated.

Due to the presence of too many armed and special police on-site, Chen Zhiyu hadn’t noticed him and Gao Bo yet.

With a command, the armed police, special police, and national security forces immediately formed into two teams, charging into the entrance of the stairwell, the corridor in complete darkness except for the "escape route" marked by the green light.

The armed police officers were the first to push forward.

With a creaking sound, two armed police officers gently opened the fire escape door, and the group quickly moved in with their guns drawn, one after another.

The stairs of the resettlement building are not much to hold out hope for, narrow enough for just two and a half people to stand on.

Gu Ji noticed that the armed police were all moving with their backs to one side of the wall, all uniformly in a high-ready position with their guns, while the special police mostly held their guns in a lower-ready position. The former allows for a quicker response to enemies in narrow spaces when engaging from above but poses a risk of friendly fire, while the latter involves an upward movement of the gun, offering greater safety.
