Signing-In: The Lazy Moon Goddess-Chapter 724: Inside the Pyramid
Back inside the ruins...
At the desert area, after Ru Yunlan and the other four cultivators were swallowed by the sand, the five of them woke up in another area. This location looks like an ancient castle’s interior with a towering ceiling and pillars made of gold. There are some pictures on the walls that show some old scenes. The first one to wake up was Ru Yunlan who was protected by the death god’s soul fragment. Looking around the area, he noticed something was calling for his attention. However, before he left, he took one look at the four unconscious cultivators who treated him with a bit of kindness at heart.
In ruins of unknown origins, people would usually treat anyone that is a stranger as an enemy and the villains within the crowd would usually target those who are alone. Ru Yunlan moving along had caught a lot of attention and when he was struck by lightning, he became someone who had survived from the punishment of the trial ground, even though in reality him being struck by lightning had nothing to do with the trial ground but instead a divine punishment for using divination technique.
Thinking of something, he recalled that talisman, Han Haerin had made during her training. To become as versatile as her godmother, she not only learned sword, but also medicine, pill refinement and talisman making with her. Some of the talismans she made for practice were given to Ru Yunlan. Though it was considered as a practice material compared to the ones bought outside it was more effective and had a long duration though it was disposable and a bit fragile.
After protecting the four of them with a talisman, Ru Yunlan took his leave.
{You protect them with a talisman but you had no intention of protecting them yourself. What contradictory actions.} The Death God’s soul fragment said.
Ru Yunlan said, "Godmother said to prioritize oneself when you are alone. However, she also said that as long as I am willing, you can do as you wish as long as I won’t put myself in danger."
{I do not think these humans had that kind of connection to you for you to help them like this. Is this one of your whims?}
"Yes, let’s just call it as such," said Ru Yunlan as he walked deeper to the building they were in.
With the death god pointing the way, Ru Yunlan is now walking the shortest path to reach the core of the trial building even skipping the trial itself. After hours after Ru Yunlan had left, the four cultivators finally woke up. When they woke up they were welcomed by something they didn’t expect. A thin barrier protects their group with a few floating talismans above their heads. There are at least three talismans afloat but two of the three had turned dull and even the last one was half dull. What made it worse is that there were some undead outside the barrier looking at them with greedy eyes as if they wanted to eat them.
"Wuah! There are undeads!"
"Where the hell is this place?!"
"Senior Sister Cui, wake up please!"
"Ugh~, why are you so noisy!?"
When the eldest of the group woke up, seeing the undead leaning at the barrier made her move her hands before thinking. A whip made of thorn vines appeared in her hands and flung the undeads away from her. However, this movement had destroyed the remaining talisman and the barrier around them slowly faded.
"The barrier is down! Prepare to fight!"
"Are these things undead!?"
"That brother from before was right! This place is definitely a graveyard and we are pulled in by some entity from this place," Senior Sister Cui said. "Defeat the undeads! Don’t get scratched. It would be hard to detoxify miasma!"
Without a choice, the four of them had to defeat all the undeads in the area. All the defeated undeads had turned to ashes scattered all over the place. As for the four cultivators of the same sect, they were all tired from fighting yet completely calm afterwards. They look around the hall to investigate.
"We are most likely inside the trial building."
"Dammit! Whoever is controlling that sand dragged us in!"
"We should have left when that little brother told us too."
"Have you seen that guy? Who woke up first?" Senior Sister Cui asked.
The one who raised the hand is unexpectedly Junior Brother Qin. The one with burly body and strongest body among the four of them.
Junior Brother Qin said, "I did. However, when I woke up all I saw was that we were protected by a barrier made with talismans. That guy is not around. I tried to look around. The barrier didn’t block me from coming out. It’s just that I accidentally stepped on something and some undead appeared so... I run back in the barrier and wake you guys up."
"You stepped on something and undeads appeared? Wait, it wasn’t you who made this barrier?!" Junior Brother Zou asked in surprise.
Junior Sister Meng said, "If it’s not Xiao Qin then... Is it that little brother from before?"
"He might have fallen here with us. But this place is his target and he cannot waste time. He was kind enough to place a barrier around us before leaving," Senior Sister Cui said.
Junior Brother Zou said, "Why didn’t he just wake us up!?"
"Wake us up for what? He wasn’t in our group and... We are the one that implicated him. Be thankful that he was kind enough to leave us a means of protection or we would be eaten while asleep!" Senior Sister Cui said.
After getting reprimanded, Junior Brother Zou lowered his head in apology. He was so anxious that he said the wrong things. He can only apologize for his mistake.
"I’m sorry for saying the wrong things, Cui-shijie," said Junior Brother Zou.
Junior Sister Meng said, "Since everyone is awake, let’s try using the teleportation stone we made before to leave this place."
"Alright. Let’s go and try it," Senior Sister Cui said.
All four of them had brought out a teleportation stone to escape from this trial zone. However, when they tried to do so, the trial zone had given them a warning. The control over their bodies were suddenly seized by some unknown power and a voice rang in the hall they were in.

Once the warning was issued the force that pressured them had disappeared and the teleportation stones in their hands had some seals on it. It seems that the seal on their teleportation stones can only be removed once they find a safe zone. Upon hearing the announcement of the trial zone, all four of them have frustrated expressions on their faces.
Normally, restrictions of escape tools like teleportation stone is rare especially for a place of trial such as this. This place however placed a restraint on them. Clearly, whoever is the one who dragged them here didn’t want them to leave so easily and wanted them to walk around in this place waiting for an opportunity to devour them.
Thinking of this possibility, the faces of the fours didn’t look good. This is what it meant to be targeted by something unknown. Dragged in their own territory and preventing them leaving, this means that whoever wanted them here, didn’t want them to leave so easily. Just thinking about this gave fear in the hearts of four cultivators and felt frustrated that there is nothing they can do about it.
"Dammit! It’s not letting us go!" Junior Brother Qin said.
Junior Brother Zou said, "If only we left right away after that brother warned us before, this wouldn’t have happened at all!?"
"W-What should we do? Shijie, I don’t want to die," said Junior Sister Meng.
Senior Sister Cui said, "No one is going to die. Let’s find a safe zone so we can leave from here. Either find one or find that little brother from before."
"Why find him?" Junior Brother Zou asked with a bewildered expression on his face.
Senior Sister Cui said, "None of you might have noticed but that young man we’ve met before was wearing a jade with Moon and Lotus insignia. He might be someone connected to the Moon Clan."
"The Everlasting Royal Moon Clan!"
"Yes. The moon clan excels in controlling Yin energy and death energy he had mentioned before must be something he had felt from this place. If there is someone who can bring us out of this building it can only be that young man. The talisman he used to protect us is roughly made but it is definitely a high-grade talisman. Now I am 50 percent sure that he is from that clan," said Senior Sister Cui.
"But how can we find him?" Junior Brother Qin asked.
Senior Sister Cui said, "Since he is in this building as long as we keep on moving we should be able to find his trail. Let’s go. Staying here is just a waste of time."
It was only after this conversation that the group decided to leave the hall. They wanted to try completing the first trial which is to leave this floor alive.
