Chapter 999: Chapter 996: A HUGE WIN

When the auctioneer called once, twice and was just about to call for the third time and call it official, Diamond, who didn’t receive any mission suddenly called out, "A$2 million," starting a new bid war between herself and Zara who was determined to get her hands on the book.

Watching the bid war, both Wyatt and Nolan found the matter very interesting. They couldn’t help but tease her.

"You are not going to give in this time?"

"Tche! I don’t usually give in to my little sister. Why should I concede to her all the time?" and continued to increase the bidding price until it reached A$20 million.

"Babe, are you not doing this out of spite? This book doesn’t seem to be that special."

Seeing the money that was being wasted on a book of unknown origins, Nolan couldn’t help but be filled with worry.

Diamond patted his shoulder and confidently said, "my instincts are never wrong. I believe that the book contains something. As long as I manage to decipher it, my wins might be enormous and the cost will be repaid."

Seeing her confidence, the two decided to let her be. After all, this amount of money shouldn’t be anything much to her, right?

In the end, Zara was the one to concede and seeing her dropping out of the bidding war, Diamond sighed with relief, knowing that the book was not part of the mission at all.

With the book won over, more items popped up, and Diamond bided for a pearl necklace she planned to give to her mother. Unfortunately, she didn’t find anything for her father and sister this time.

As the auction progressed, it was finally time for the last bid, and it was something that she had personally put – the healing pills.

She was feeling quite excited. The thought of seeing how much the pills might be bought for, filled with a lot of anticipation.

And the same enthusiasm and anticipation filled everyone. After all, the last item is always the best. Who didn’t want to snag that item as long as they can afford it?

Unfortunately, they weren’t looking forward to the shock that was about to fall on them.

The hall was filled with excitement as everyone waited for this centerpiece.

Moments later, a trolley was pushed into the front and all the noise died down.

The auctioneer’s smile this time was big and everyone could tell that whatever was hiding beneath the cover was something special.

"As you all know, everything must always come to an end no matter how much we are reluctant to do so!" the lady started lightly, earning chuckles from the crowd before continuing gracefully, "What we have here is the last item we will be auctioning tonight and trust me, it is the kind that you all don’t want to miss!" speaking in a mysterious tone that made everyone eager to see what it was.

Seeing everyone’s eagerness and curiosity piqued, the lady smiled at everyone as she walked towards the trolley. And under everyone’s eyes, she removed the cover, only to reveal a small jade bottle which earned surprise gasps from the crowd.

"What is that?"

"Is this a joke?"

Diamond chuckled as she saw the surprise on everyone’s looks. Even the two were surprised as well.

"Babe, do you know what that is?"

Diamond looked at the two with a smug expression and patted her ample chest, and boastfully said, "That’s mine. What do you think?" her answer sending shocks to the two.

"Yours?"

And before she could answer, the lady in emerald started explaining.

"I know that all of you are wondering why this bottle. Are we just selling a jade bottle tonight or not? Is there something inside or not?" she said teasingly as she looked at the crowd, making them howl with anxiety of being teased and not knowing what was going on.

"I bet that most of you know about apothecary and alchemy!" with her lips curled upwards, the auctioneer suddenly said, making the crowd’s voices rise even further.

"Um. What we have here is a bottle of medicinal pills!" as she picked up the bottle with her hands, she further explained. "They are called healing pills. The pills can heal all sorts of ailments, as the name suggests. That is a physical illness and not a mental illness, to be precise!"

The auctioneer explained about the pills and the more she spoke, the more the crowd got agitated and eager to start their bids.

And when that was mentioned, several pairs of eyes fixated on Diamond.

She patted their shoulders as she said, "Don’t bother to bid. This lady will give you a pill each later. Use it for emergencies."

The guys already knew that Diamond was dabbling in the pill intermediary business, but never thought that she could get her hands on something that advanced.

Suddenly, Wyatt remembered how his family kept on urging him to ask Diamond about what she gave the old man of the Mainley family. Didn’t they say that she gave him something in a jade bottle?

Could it be that she casually gifted a healing pill?

How generous of her!

"No need to give it to use for free!"

Diamond glared at them and angrily responded, "I am the one who is giving them for free. Don’t you always give me gowns and other for free? Are you trying to draw some lines with me?" her tone sounding quite chilly, it made both men to be thoughtful.

While the atmosphere in the room was a bit disturbing, outside, the bidding war has already started and it was quite fierce. In fact, it was the fiercest of all bidding wars that had happened during this event.

Who didn’t want to be healthy?

Everyone wanted to live long, be with their families and have a lot of time to spend the wealth they painstakingly created. What would be the use to make money and die without even doing everything that you wished for?

"A$10 million!"

"A$50 million!"

"A$100 million!"

"A$150 million!"

The price suddenly reached greater heights and one by one competitors were kicked out and now, around ten bidders remained, and Zara was amongst those.

Diamond couldn’t help but smile as she noticed Zara’s inclusion. She must have recognized that the pills were from her by now, and judging by her own experience, she must be eager to get her hands on them and perhaps give them to family.

What a good adopted sister she has. Willing to send her money. She loves anyone who gives her money.

The bid continued in a short time shot up to A$300 million, exciting Diamond so much. However, the bid was just starting and Diamond was in for a good show.

What was interesting was that when the bid shot up to A$500 million, Zara was still amongst the top three contenders, making her wonder just how much her family gave her to be so willing to part with so much money?

"Dee, this is simply crazy," Wyatt exasperatedly said, as he watched with excitement, the bidding war.

To think that it was his good friend’s pills that was currently being sold at such a higher price, he was feeling so excited, and so was Nolan.

As for the attendants, they couldn’t stop trembling with happiness. The fact that they were serving this box, didn’t that mean that their bonuses would be so generous?

The more that thought, the eager they cheered for the bidding price to increase, and surely it did.

"A$1 billion."

And that became the closing and winning biding price of the day.

"Mama Mia!" Diamond whistled with happiness upon hearing that crazy bid.

"Who just made that bid?" she was quite curious and excited.

Which god of wealth decided to descend down to earth and bless her with so much money.

{Mother, it’s from box number 1,} Andrea came to the rescue, and Diamond inhaled a sharp breath.

Those who could afford that box weren’t simple people. Just what kind of hidden dragon did she manage to attract?

"Congratulations to guest in box number 1 for winning the healing pills!" the auctioneer excitedly announced, her ample chest shaking, making people involuntarily gaze there.

Seeing others gazing there, Diamond shook her body and muttered to herself, "it doesn’t matter who it is. As long as they don’t bother with me, I will pretend like I don’t see them."

She was still someone who values her life. And her motto will never change.

She hates trouble and if trouble doesn’t come knocking at her door, she won’t bother going out to look for it.

That time, she might as well spend it doing something meaningful or sleep if there is nothing to do.

"You won big babe!"

Diamond’s attention was pulled by the boys who were sincerely happy for her, and she beamed beautifully at them, her eyes squinting into crescents.

"Hehe, I will earn more in the future!" and she shamelessly accepted the praise.

Fortunately, they were already used to her shameless behavior. There was nothing surprising at all.
