Sign In To The Body Of Chaos At The Start-Chapter 68: The Heart of Starlight Island!
Chapter 68: The Heart of Starlight Island!
The ground beneath Damon was a magnificent painting of chaos and destruction. The closer and closer Damon and Artemis got to the Heart of Starlight Island, where the Princess was sealed, the more chaotic the environment appeared.
Craters marred the land, scattered with the remains of Abyssal Monsters, their malevolent energy slowly spreading from their dead bodies and into the air. The sky above was an oppressive shade of crimson, as if the island itself bled in response to the atrocities committed here.
Damon tightly held BloodReaper, prepared for any sneak attack sent his way, BloodReaper was still pulsing with the residual energy of his last attack as he moved forwards. His eyes were sharp, his senses on high alert as he scanned the horizon for any remaining threats.
Meanwhile, beside him, Artemis trembled slightly, her wide eyes reflecting the devastation around them.
"We’re almost there," Damon said, his voice a low rumble. He extended a hand to Artemis, who was visibly shaken but resolute. Her grip on his hand was firm, her delicate fingers cool against his skin.
"I know," she replied, her voice steady despite the fear that lingered in her eyes. "But this place... it’s like a nightmare. Are you sure the exit is towards the centre?" She inquired.
Damon hadn’t told her about the Astonomanian Princess, just deciding to reveal that there was a secret exit near where the Princess was sealed in the Heart of Starlight Island.
Damon nodded, his expression softening as he looked at her. "Just trust me, I know what I’m doing. We’ll get through this. Just stay close and on high alert."
They walked on, each step taking them closer to the center of the island. The terrain grew more treacherous, the air thick with an oppressive energy that made it difficult to breathe. Damon’s eyes glowed faintly as he activated his <Eyes Of Oblivion>, scanning for any hidden traps or formations that could spell their doom. freewebnσvel.cøm
Lilith had already given him most of the information about potential traps around the island, but in Damon’s eyes, it was always better to be safe rather than sorry.
"Careful," he muttered, pointing out a faint, shimmering line in the dirt. "That’s a Mana Disruption Trap. Step over it."
Mana Disruption traps were a common yet deadly type of trap that originated in the previous Eras. As their name suggests, anyone who comes in contact with the trap would temporarily lose their connection to Mana, making them much much weaker in actual combat for the duration.
Artemis nodded, carefully navigating the narrow path he indicated. Her fox ears twitched, picking up the faint, distant sounds of creatures lurking just beyond the edge of their vision. She felt a cold shiver run down her spine but kept her focus on Damon’s reassuring presence.
As they moved deeper into the island, the landscape began to change. The scorched earth gave way to patches of twisted, blackened vegetation, the remnants of what had once been a thriving forest. The air grew colder, and a thick, eerie mist began to roll in, obscuring their path.
"This mist... it’s not natural," Artemis said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Damon frowned, his eyes narrowing as he tried to pierce the fog with his enhanced vision. "The Aura of the Abyss has pierced through the very core of the Island itself, creating this Abyssal Mist. We need to be cautious. Don’t inhale any of it."
Damon cloaked his entire body with a tight shield of purified Aether, and did the same for Artemis, blocking the Mist from affecting the duo as they moved onwards.
As the duo pressed on, the mist clinging to them like a living entity. Every so often, Damon would pause, his senses alert to any changes in the Mana around them. He could feel the oppressive weight of the Abyss, a tangible presence that pressed down on them from all sides.
After what felt like hours of navigating through the fog, they finally reached the edge of a vast clearing. In the center stood a massive open clearing. To Artemis, there was absolutely nothing there, but to Damon, he could see hundreds if not thousands of Mana Formations surrounding the area, both protecting where the Princess was sealed, and sending persons away.
In the middle of the Mana Formations was an ancient stone structure, its surface covered in intricate runes that glowed with a faint, blue light. It was the entrance to the sealing grounds of the Astronomanian Princess.
"This is it," Damon said, his voice tinged with a mixture of awe and trepidation. "The heart of Starlight Island."
Artemis stared at the surroundings and spoke, "T-There’s nothing here."
"Nothing to your eyes, only I can see it due to my unique abilities. Just stand back and trust me. This place has the Aura of previous Eras, so we need to be very careful. The defenses here are designed to keep out even the most powerful beings. Without my eyes, even a Peak DemiGod would see nothing unique here."
Damon said, moving to Artemis and picking her up in a Princess carry.
"Ahh-D~Damon?" Artemis squealed, and blushed heavily as she felt herself in Damon’s arms. She could feel his firm muscles wrapped around her body, and his deep, masculine, alluring scent moved into her nose, making her blush and even slightly aroused.
"It’s hard for me to protect you and remove the formations if you’re far away from me. Just stay put, this way is easier." Damon said, his voice more authoritative than normal, leaving Artemis to only nod with a blush and look away, not daring to gaze into those attractive eyes.
Damon meanwhile quickly avoided all the Mana Formations in his way of the structure, until he was face to face with it.
"Woah." Artemis marveled, passing through the Mana Formations, she could now clearly see the incredible structure, and feel the Ancient, bygone aura of it.
As they approached the entrance, Damon felt a surge of energy from the Inheritance he had received from Lilith. It pulsed in his veins, guiding him towards the runes that adorned the stone doorway. He reached out, his fingers brushing against the cool, smooth surface.
Damon closed his eyes, focusing on the flow of Mana around him. He could feel the intricate web of spells and enchantments that made up the seal, each one designed to trap and contain the immense power within. He began to weave his own Aether into the structure, carefully unraveling the layers of magic that bound the doorway shut.
The runes flared to life, their blue light intensifying as the seal responded to Damon’s touch. The air crackled with energy, a low hum resonating through the stone. Artemis watched in awe, her heart pounding in her chest as she felt the immense power swirling around them.
After several tense moments, there was a loud, resounding click, and the massive stone doors began to slowly swing open. A gust of cold, musty air rushed out, carrying with it the scent of ancient magic and forgotten time.
"We’re in," Damon said, his voice filled with a sense of accomplishment. He finally allowed Artemis down, allowing her to move on her own once more.
They stepped through the doorway, entering a vast, dimly lit chamber. The walls were lined with towering statues of ancient warriors, their stone eyes watching silently as the intruders made their way across the cold, stone floor. In the center of the room, a massive crystal stood, its surface swirling with dark, turbulent energy.
"That must be the seal, I’ve seen one of those in the past, what’s in there?" Artemis spoke, admiring the surrounding area. Throughout the room, everything was a treasure, even the most random crystal in here could probably help her improve her powers.
"Here." Damon said, handing Artemis a Spacial Bag, "Take this and gather all the treasures, crystals and anything else in here. I’ll handle the seal and the portal to get us out."
Artemis took the bag and nodded, moving around the room.
Then, Damon approached the Crystal, and he could feel the oppressive weight of the energy emanating from it. He could sense the powerful spells woven into its structure, each one designed to keep the Princess trapped for eternity. He knew that breaking the seal would not be an easy task.
Meanwhile, Artemis was walking around the room collecting treasures, yet her eyes occasionally moved towards Damon, her heart pounded in her chest, a mixture of fear and anticipation as she watched him.
Damon took a deep breath, his hands glowing with a powerful, pulsating energy as he channeled his Aether into the crystal. The air around him crackled with power, the ground beneath his feet trembling as the energy flowed through him. He could feel the resistance of the seal, the ancient magic pushing back against his efforts.
Yet, it was futile, Lilith had given him the perfect key to breaking this seal, and he just needed to use it.
With a loud, resounding crack, the crystal began to fracture, dark tendrils of energy spilling out and writhing in the air like living entities. Damon gritted his teeth, pouring more of his power into the crystal, forcing the dark energy to bend to his will.
The room was filled with a deafening roar as the crystal shattered, pieces of dark, pulsating stone flying in all directions. A blinding flash of light erupted from the center of the chamber, forcing Artemis to shield her eyes.
When the light finally faded, Damon stood in the center of the room, his body bathed in a soft, ethereal glow. Before him, where the crystal had stood, was a figure. A woman, her body enveloped in a shimmering, translucent light, her eyes closed as if in deep slumber.
"She’s... beautiful," Artemis whispered, her voice filled with awe.
Damon nodded, his eyes fixed on the woman. "The Astronomanian Princess." He muttered.
He looked at the beautiful Princess, she was truly gorgeous. She was tall, only a little shorter than Damon, with long purple hair, and a stunning body.
As they approached the woman, Damon saw that she was still asleep. According to Lilith, to awaken her, he would need to pour his power into the formation trapping her and seep his power throughout her body.
Even with his <Eyes Of Oblivion>, Damon still couldn’t tell what the Mana Formation did, it was so complex and incredible, it would take at minimum months for Damon at his current level to decipher it. Yet thankfully, all he needed to do was make use of it, not decipher it.
Damon controlled the formation, pouring his power into it. As time passed, a line made of pure mana appeared, connecting the Hearts of Damon and the Princess. He could feel the immense, ancient power of the line.
The line grew firmer and firmer, until a massive blinding light exploded between Damon and the mysterious Princess.
Time slowly passed and the light disappeared, Damon looked at the beautiful sleeping Princess.
Her eyes slowly opened, revealing deep, radiant orbs that seemed to hold the entire universe within them. She looked at Damon, a mixture of gratitude and sorrow in her gaze, and obsessive love deep within her gaze, that Damon couldn’t spot.
"Thank you," she said, her voice a soft, melodic whisper that echoed through the chamber. "You have freed me from my prison."
