Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Feels Like We’re Sneaking Around

They watched as Yinyan was dragged away by the staff.

The group exchanged perplexed glances.

Yu Xia fanned herself and frowned, asking, "Did someone find their target to eliminate so quickly, and even figure out how to get them eliminated? We don’t have a single clue yet."

Xie Qingci asked the two people, "Did you see any suspicious clues on Yinyan?"

The two younger guys shook their heads blankly, "No, we originally thought the role we were playing might have some sort of task card for hints, but we couldn’t find anything, so we came here to look."

Not knowing the identity of the character they were playing, yet getting eliminated in such a muddled way, was truly frustrating.

Xie Qingci thought for a moment and asked Yu Xia, "Should we go out and ask who made the move?"

"We could. But would they tell the truth?"

Yu Xia expressed doubt, believing young people these days were quite shrewd and might not reveal the truth.

"No matter, it’s better than staying stuck here."

They then prepared to leave the pavilion and look outside.

"Hey, wait," Yu Xia suddenly thought of a bug, "Yinyan was eliminated, so what happens to the person he was supposed to kill? Do they just last until the end?"

Xie Qingci shook his head, "Surviving till the end doesn’t mean much; winning the game is about figuring out who was meant to kill them. If they can’t guess it was Yinyan, it doesn’t matter how long they survive."

Yu Xia lifted her skirt and walked down, saying, "But this way, they can boldly search for clues, unlike us, who still have to worry about getting killed."

"True, so we need to act faster."

Though they openly talked about "us," the other two felt no sense of involvement, as if the alliance only included the two of them.

The two younger guys cluelessly acted as background characters, trailing behind, and pondered over the clues.

Soon after, they encountered several other younger guys walking towards them.

Yu Xia glanced at them and directly asked, "Do you guys know who eliminated Yinyan? He was just getting a taste of the game."

The several guys said they didn’t know, and even asked back, "We saw him being dragged from this direction and wanted to ask if it was you who did it."

"Of course not! He was inexplicably eliminated, and we were still searching for clues then— it happened quite suddenly. Did you guys find any clues?"

Xie Qingci glanced at her, sensing she was about to start deceiving others.

Among the younger guys, some seemed particularly chivalrous and directly shared the hard-earned clues they found with her.

"I don’t feel like it’s much of a clue, but when we came over, we saw a wall carved with the love story of Emperor Tang Xuanzong and Noble Consort Yang. None of the other walls had it, just that one."

"That’s a clue too," Yu Xia shared the information they had just seen in the pavilion, then asked, "Would you like to join us? Sharing clues makes us allies, and many hands make light work."

Xie Qingci’s mind was suddenly struck by a few words: ’As expected.’

After gaining something, offering barely valuable returns.

Or convincing them to join and dragging them into this alliance, where no real returns need to be offered, since everyone is an ally and there’s no sense in keeping sides.

He listened quietly to see if she could deceive anyone.

One of them hesitated, "No need, Yu Xia,姐 too many people isn’t good either, consider the clues as our brotherhood’s sharing without compensation."

They were actually prepared to find Shu Ran, believing she’d have experience with these headless games from her time in the Variety Show.

Yu Xia saw they were quite hesitant and didn’t insist, turning around to stare at their backs as they walked away, contemplating, "The story of Emperor Tang Xuanzong and Noble Consort Yang..."

What does this story mean? What clues are hidden?

Everyone brainstormed, saying whatever came to mind.

"The only thing I remember about their story is The Song of Everlasting Sorrow."

"Also one rides dust red as the consort smiles, nobody knows it’s lychee that came."

"Perhaps it’s indicating that among our characters are Emperor Tang Xuanzong and Noble Consort Yang?"

The latter seemed a bit more reliable, but after some thought, Yu Xia frowned, "There’s nobody playing Emperor Tang Xuanzong, right? The character image and clothing don’t match— Shu Ran姐 is indeed wearing Tang attire, but for Noble Consort Yang to eliminate someone, who would she choose? There’s no logical connection here."

Must have a story line, or general logical relations to definitively say who the eliminator and the eliminated are.

For example, if she wanted to eliminate Xie Qingci, there must be a reason.

Xie Qingci said in a cool voice, "The info we know includes Emperor Tang Xuanzong and Noble Consort Yang, Peacock Flying Southeast, Huang Chao’s Rebellion, Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. The latter seems a bit out of place, perhaps we can ignore it for now."

Actually, it should be quite useful, considering they hadn’t disclosed "Ode to the Plum Blossoms", maybe these two were the real clues.

Though unspoken, Yu Xia received it, subtly glanced at him, amazed by his shrewdness.

They could now confirm that everyone likely didn’t have much info on them and had obtained more clues, Yu Xia planned to get rid of the other two younger guys.

"I feel the people in the other three areas must have found something important," she stated seriously,

"Who knows when we’ll suddenly get eliminated, time is tight, we should split into three groups, each heading to one of the other three areas."

Xie Qingci didn’t hesitate for a moment, agreeing with her, "Makes sense, we can think about what these clues really mean as we search."

The two younger guys fully believed and even asked, "There are four of us, how do we split into three groups?"

"Here’s the idea, Yu Xia can stay here, you’re not dressed for running around," Xie Qingci said with a serious expression, "The three of us will each cover one area."

The other two quickly nodded in agreement, full of gentlemanly spirit.

Such obedient boys, Yu Xia tearfully sent them off, reminding, "No need to rush, take your time. If you encounter suspicious people, spend more time negotiating!"

Best not to come back halfway and interrupt her efforts.

Once everyone had run out of sight, she lifted her skirt and ran, checking as she went, crossing the square, heading towards the area Xie Qingci was going.

She had barely passed the square’s center when Xie Qingci turned around and reappeared at the entrance, waiting for her.

"Hurry, hurry, get inside!"

Xie Qingci couldn’t reach out to pull her, so he could only say verbally, "Take it easy, no need to run that fast. They probably won’t suspect."

This dialogue seemed a bit off, and the comments exploded with shock.

[What’s this, like an affair? / Cat shocked.jpg]

[Alliance, such a rarely heard word, so much fear in Shu Ran hahaha]

[They didn’t share the clue ’Ode to the Plum Blossoms’, just waiting to ditch the two younger guys and plot a murder together, right?]

[It’s been so long, finally a bit of sugar to savor, sobbing, we are on the ship of the Summer-Xie CP and shout with weak voices, "My CP is real!"]

[So who really killed Yinyan? None of the footage showed anyone finding the elimination method.]

[These clues combined, I honestly don’t understand, literary and history combined— the pain of a science student]

[Oh, Yu Xia looks so beautiful in Song-style Hanfu!]
