Lin zigzagged across the slope using Isphyrlya's body, weaving past every obstacle in his path. He pushed harder with his right leg, accelerating down the slope with only one thought in mind.

His priority now was escaping this place before the dark matter absorbed him. A strange happiness began to rise inside him, a feeling he had not experienced in a long time. But it did not last long, as trouble came knocking on Lin's door.

"Groupon… Gahahhaa!"

A monster started chasing him. It was a massive, snow covered gorilla. As Lin tilted his head to look, he nearly lost his balance, but he caught himself at the last second.

Damn. Is that King Kong?

Great. This went from skating to Temple Run.

I know my life sucks. I know. Even my smallest rightful chance of escaping cannot be normal. Not even African magic could generate that much bad luck. Is that even fair?

He focused his eyes, his face turning emotionless. He had to lock in now if he wanted to escape in the shortest time possible. He had already predicted that another monster might follow him since Nivara was being devoured.

Lin lowered his posture to make Isphyrlya's body gain more speed, increasing the distance to twenty meters. Then he cut to the left as the gorilla picked up speed because of the slope.

Lin threw the dagger toward a tree on the right. As they descended, he used the momentum to change direction and head west. Gaining speed, he adjusted his course with his right leg. But as he turned, a smaller monster appeared, one with a mouth even larger than the gorilla's. Lin forcefully threw the torn arm into the monster's mouth, making it choke and struggle to breathe.

Then Lin pushed strongly with his leg and shot into the forest on the right.

For now, all he needed was to determine west from east, or he would end up heading straight toward the center. As Lin lifted his gaze to the sky searching for birds, he only needed to see one. Usually, birds are the first to escape when danger approaches. But as Lin looked around, he found nothing.

A small earthquake began to shake the ground.

Damn. That means they got away early. I should have seen that coming.

A new plan formed in Lin's mind. All he had left was to rely on another intelligent being. And there was nothing better than a monkey, especially since he had already seen a gorilla. Finding any monkey species would be the best option. They were at least smarter than average, and humans could communicate with them more easily. Even though this was a magic world, they should be smarter than the average monkeys from Jin's original world. As long as he stayed away from the devouring black matter, he still had a chance.

"Moooooooh!"

Lin's attention was drawn to a crying sound. He raised his eyes and noticed a bruised, sad blue assed baboon sitting on a rock. It looked as if he no longer cared about life.

His name was Moo of the Moon. His parents had named him that because he was born under a full moon, though perhaps fate had another reason.

It was as if he were ready to die at any moment. If anyone could call himself unlucky, this baboon would be one of the unluckiest beings alive.

In a single day, his parents, who had left their clan after being forced to abandon their son due to his different fur and skin color, were eaten by a random low level monster. His wife left him for another monkey. He lost his child and all the food he had stored for half a year to survive the coming storm. The monkeys stole it, and when his child tried to defend it, he was beaten and killed.

When Moo confronted his wife, she laughed at him. Then he was beaten by the monkeys until his face was covered in bruises.

Now he sat on that rock with hollow eyed eyes filled with tears. In just one day, he had tasted regret for not being there for his parents and his son. He felt hatred toward himself for not being strong enough to take revenge, or even to bury his parents and child, who had disappeared beneath the snow.

Driven by exhaustion and despair, Moo decided to kill himself. He had already lost hope in life. After losing everything, he tried to commit suicide, but even that failed. There was always something inside him that refused to let him die. In just one day, he had tried about twenty times, and all twenty attempts had failed.

Despite all this, Lin did not care.

He slid quickly toward Moo and grabbed him by the neck, but the baboon resisted.

"I know you understand me."

"I want to escape from here," Lin said, explaining the situation. But the blue assed baboon made no movement and did not respond. Lin was getting angry, and that would not be good for the baboon. When Lin was angry, he could become worse than the bat guy when extracting information.

As Lin continued speaking while skating, the gorilla and another monster began chasing him. It was a snowy leopard. The two monsters were only two meters apart.

Without wasting time, Lin tightened his grip on the baboon's neck, making it difficult for him to breathe. Then he performed a sharp upward slide and leapt seven meters into the air. He began rolling midair without losing control of Isphyrlya's frozen body. That was thanks to Lin's brilliant skating technique.

He absorbed mana from Isphyrlya's body to keep it perfectly straight. Since it contained a large amount of mana, Lin poured his own mana into his leg, channeling it through the body's natural energy flow. The magic stabilized her entire form, locking her in place and keeping her frozen body perfectly aligned.

He was now eight meters ahead of the two monsters trying to catch him.

Lin exhaled in relief and turned his gaze toward the hollow eyed baboon while skating.

"You do not seem to value your life. So let me give you a warning."

Lin raised his dagger and spoke in a cold voice.

"You see those two under your blue balloons? I think I can pop them."

He pressed the edge of his dagger lightly, making the baboon scream in agony. Moo had already expected to die, but he did not want to die in unbearable pain after all his failed suicide attempts.

Moo began shaking his head, showing he was willing to help. The baboon understood human language because he had once been saved by a human. He could understand it, but he could not speak it.

The only problem was that the baboon did not know where to lead him.

Lin moved the dagger slightly away.

"I will repeat myself. Show me something useful, or believe me, my patience is running thin. I can pop them and use your body in the most brutal way to feed the other animals, and no one will save you."

The baboon extended his hand toward the east. He had always been sensitive to the eastern direction. It was probably to the right of where he was currently facing. He pointed that way, and Lin adjusted his direction accordingly.

As they moved, the baboon kept directing them east. But the two monsters continued chasing them, competing for the same prey.

When Lin glanced back, he had already regained some of his strength, but he could not use it recklessly, or his condition would worsen.

The baboon kept pointing east again and again.

"Motherfucker, I think you are just sending me east endlessly."

"Are you the baboon from the East Journey?"

At that moment, Lin spoke words he did not know would one day become true.

Yes. He was speaking to the reincarnation of Moo Wu Kong, the greatest rival of the Great Sage Sun Wu Kong and the one who shared the longest rivalry with him.

Lin already knew he had caught a smart baboon pretending to be foolish, so he began communicating through gestures.

"You should understand that this island is being devoured by something. If we do not escape in time, we will be transferred to a terrible place, and that place is worse than death."

"Mahhhhh!"

The baboon panicked at Lin's words and began taking everything seriously. Surely, he wanted to commit suicide, but he did not want to die in pain. For now, his depression faded, and a new goal formed in his heart: survival.

He did not want to sink into the dark matter and face the terrifying things Lin had described.

And so, an alliance was formed between Moo the Baboon and Lin the Dragon Slayer.
