Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure-Chapter 1488: Magic Exchange (4)
Going back a few minutes, I walked over to an exhibit that demonstrated a few fire magic tools.
One of the spells that I learned was the fireball spell, so naturally I was interested in this research.
Not only would it help with the power of my fireball spell, it would also help with my control of the fire elemental energy.
When they saw me come over, they didn’t seem as excited as the others did when they saw the sea witches come over. However, they at least felt better that someone was interested in their work.
Though from what I could see, it seemed that the ones that were running this exhibit were on the young side.
It seemed like this was something that was done by students.
I looked at the Azure Sage with one brow raised after seeing this, but he looked back at me with a look as if I should already know the answer.
A faint smile appeared on my lips when I heard this.
They called this a Magic Exchange, I guess that it wasn’t just the older magicians that they allowed to have contact with the other races. They knew that there were young sea witches coming, so they were allowing the younger generation to interact with each other.
I thought that the Sorcery Empire was just completely obsessed with magic, but it seemed like they did have their discretion.
However, it was a bit humbling to know that this exhibit was the work of students.
Even these students knew much more about magic than me.
I tossed those feelings aside and focused on the things that they were showing me.
The things that they had made were items that used magic stones to create flames, but they made it so that the flames could be easily adjusted. This was done with the use of magic arrays that would control the output of mana to control how the flames were released.
What I was interested in wasn’t the tools, but rather the concept behind the magic array.
If I could learn the principles behind them, it would certainly make my own fireballs much stronger.
But to my surprise…
"The principles behind them aren’t that special, these are things that are taught in the most basic classes. The really interesting part about these are the functions that they have."
After saying this, they started showing off the different things that they had altered about these items.
But I really wasn’t paying attention since there was a bitter smile on my face after hearing what he said.
This was the most basic thing to them, but it wasn’t something that I knew since I had never learned the same basics as them. That was just how it was when it came to those that had learned from the Sorcery Empire since they were young.
After listening to them for a bit, I asked, "Can I try it?"
The ones that had been explaining things to me were surprised to hear this, but then they gestured to the magic items and said, "Of course, please feel free to test these out."
They didn’t even ask him to move over to the area that was designated for magic experiments. They didn’t think that these items would actually be dangerous at all since they were just basic items.
But what they didn’t expect was…
"Woosh!"
There was a powerful flame that appeared the moment that I injected my mana into the item that they handed me.
This was supposed to be a lighter that would help light fires, so the flames shouldn’t have been this strong.
But the moment that the flames appeared, it was like a flamethrower.
It was only supposed to be a small flame that came from the end of this magic item, but it became a continuous stream of flames instead.
The worst part was that the nozzle of this thing was pointed at the ones that handed me the magic item in the first place. That meant that the flames being shot out were being aimed right at that person.
In the end, the Azure Sage stepped in.
He had been watching over this since he was interested in what I was doing, but it was a good thing that he was there.
If it wasn’t for the layer of water that he had suddenly created, then the flames would have completely swallowed that person.
Once the flames were put out, there was only silence that followed as everyone looked at me with shocked looks.
In the end, they all started talking about how they had never seen anything like this before.
I had to admit that I had never seen anything like this either, but it wasn’t as if I used magic items that often.
At the same time, becoming the center of attention wasn’t really a good thing at a place like this.
So all I could do was look at everyone staring at me with an awkward look on my face.
The Azure Sage was the one that broke the silence by suddenly asking me, "Can I check something with you?"
I was caught off guard by this since I didn’t expect him to suddenly ask me this question, but it also wasn’t as if I would agree that easily.
As if he could see this, the Azure Sage just said, "I just want to test something with you. All you have to do is put your mana into this."
After saying this, he pulled out what seemed to be a smooth blue stone.
It seemed like a normal stone based on its appearance, but the mana fluctuations that were coming from it were anything but normal. That just went to show that this was a special stone that he was handing to me.
But after thinking about it, it didn’t seem like there was anything bad that he could do in a place like this.
I was also curious about what the Azure Sage was planning.
So I took the stone from him.
